What's Your Edge
Last few days has been a struggle. I'm feeling okay about it, but it's obviously frustrating. I'm not sure how good my play has been, I've definitely made mistakes, and I've more definitely been running far under expectation I think. I had a few bad beat hands lined up, but who really fucking cares. Short version is two sessions ago I had AA cracked 4 times, typically by 5 outters give or take a couple outs.
Last night I had a very annoying session of constant bad rivers and opponents hitting their super money card on me (the ones that improve my hand, but improve their's more). I did manage to score a $6k pot playing a pretty LAG 10/20NL table on Party, but that was the only light in a bleak run of cards. I still managed to get stuck for the session and just gave up after a couple hours cuz I just felt too frustrated. Hopefully one day I'll learn to never have my game affected by poor results, but for now I think the best I can muster at these times is quitting. At least I'm getting better at that, but just being a good quitter isn't exactly the goal I had in mind (though can be important I guess).
Anyway, I've dropped almost $7k the past 3 days, mainly in holdem. My PLO progress is coming along, and if anything, I've realized I suck and that I've been playing much too loose and probably lucky to be around even in the game so far.
I've been playing a lot on Party the last couple days because of a few reasons. First is I have a little $100 reload bonus to work off, which I don't really care about, but may as well. Mainly, there is a promotion where if you earn 30% MORE points in the next month than your previously most active month in the past 3 months or so, you get 6 rakefree days plus an entry into a tourney where you can earn extra free days up to 31 days. I only need to earn about 850 points which is nothing to attain a minimum of 6 days because I've hardly played on Party at all in the past few months. So, this amounts to one of the best promotions I've ever seen if I put the 6 days to good use. The condition is that I have to pick 6 consecutive days anytime between May 1 to July 31. My plan is to take a week in that time (when I'm at home) and dedicate it COMPLETELY to poker, day and night. I'll see if I can pound out a sweet week and probably save myself thousands in rake in the process. So, decent promotion probably worth checking out (especially if you haven't frequented Party much in the past few months).
I leave for Regina with my wife, son, and mother-in-law on Thursday and will be playing the $500-something and $1000-something tourneys on Friday and Saturday. Then we'll be staying until Tuesday to just hang out and enjoy a mini-getaway in bustling Regina.
I'm getting hollered at to watch my boy while supper is being made, so I better get outta here. Later!
