Hopefully you bookmark that and keep following, I'll be writing regardless.
Just too frustrated by functionality here, and in truth I blog much less about poker than I do the rest of life so probably not fit for CR.

Gl at the tables,
J
So I tend to get screenshot happy whenever something cool happens, like I hit a new number on online bankroll or at one table or something -- or just something weird happens. For instance, there was this one tourney, think it was WCOOP 2k from last year, where me and yellowsub busted like 3 players a piece in first 40 mins and something screwy happened and we ended up HU in this mtt for like 30 mins. Or once on UB the button just vanished off the table and starting dealing every hand from the other opponents seat.
Anyways, here's some shots I found cleaning out my computer.
Screens
Nothing is better for the confidence than we a table full of regs won't play you.
--------------------
.jpg)
Dunno if you can see that but I had to take that with Durrrr at a few of my tables. Never thought I would play with him again.
-------
Most satisfying pot I ever won....
http://4cardpoker.blogspot.com/2008/05/good-catch-mr-moneymaker-sir.html
End of this post, hand with moneymaker live where he runner runners me after being a d-bag just in general -- sucking out on his skanky 34xx above was fabulous.
----
Here is that tourney where we were HU, notice we are like top 5 in chips too haha.
-----
Played about 7 hours since coming home and finishing up my stuff. Real happy with my play and had some run good, think I have erased about half of what was the biggest downswing of my life in terms of $. That's cool, unless the games are pretty yummy I'll be taking it easy, booking a good win this year although it was much bigger not too long ago.
----
In other news I've gotten an A+ in strat 390 my core B-school class from this semester, the one I missed 2.5 weeks of class in, didn't present any of our group projects, and never talked without being cold called (participation and attendance is supposed to be 15% of grade hah). Moral of the story... parcticipation grades are an idol threat I've found... I and pwn strat. Got an A in 'writing film criticism' and an A in 'Buddhism and Death' this might end up being my best semester since A+ are worth 4.4 here.
-----
Saw Avatar the other day, I won't go in depth on a review. But I wasn't impressed by it. I didn't see it in 3-D which was a clear mistake but timing issues... the animation, perhaps because its supposed to be 3-d, looked very flat in digital.. like their was 2 distinct layers foreground and background almost like the characters were on a stage rather than in their native environment.
Their is this story telling mechanism that the main character is in the avatar when linked up, then when he sleeps he awakes in real life -- this was a cool mode for telling the story.
Aside from that though the characters are very stereotypical, archetypes -- very tired, very very tired.
The plot - nobility + the scrub, princess + outsider has been played to death -- very tired, very very tired.
The messages were very heavy handed (environmentalism, anti-war) but the theme really didn't hold up to the plot.. If you haven't watched it yet stop, SPOILERS!
So in the end the forest and its creatures save the day, the forest is resilient, it wins despite forces trying to destroy it. Also, in the end both sides come to fight, the Navi do not restrain, they are no different than the gun toting marines when pushed.
The messages really don't align with what happened, Cameron went for the popcorn approach while trying to make a serious movie with a conscience. Had the forest been utterly destroyed and the Navi made extinct --- then we have a clear message about war and being green... then we have a cause (the marines) and effect (extinction/loss).
In the end though the movie proposes these issues to be meaningful, to be of high concern, but it doesn't show that anything devastating will come from ignoring them..... it just doesn't make a coherent point... its like just shoving them in there for fist slamming effect, not to stimulate changes or realization. Silly... just silly.
My main qualm though is the film just didn't bring anything new to the table, visually it was entertaining, but I think most film theorist would tell you we aren't in an era of film where spectacle is > form... this era was 60 years ago. Now if you spend 300 million I think you should have something new to bring to the table, something refreshing to bring to film form.

hmm anyone else concur - only then more frustrating than using this blog engine is when it doesn't work.
Dec 23, 09 02:43:09
I liked the film but mostly for the spectacular effects, I agree the storyline at it's core was pretty cliche and boring. Unfortunately I have to disagree in that I think America is getting stupider so the films get dumbed down to get the big money. Oh well.
Sorry kiddos -- my dad used to call me kiddo all the time, i like to use it myself but when you are 21 it comes off as way condescending. I'll be 22 in about a week though, I'm sure it will sound warm and wise then.
Anyways been a long time since last entry, don't want you guys to think I went off the deep end or anything. I'm good, U of M likes to do this thing, or at least the B-school does, where you have class per usual... normal homework per usual.... final projects.... and then exams right away... its super nice of them.. i mean in high school I was thinking about how much I would love to have 4 independent layers of work to do for the same subject matter.. thanks!
----------------------------------------------------
Poker has been up and down, November turned out to be worst month ever... and December was racing to beat it but has since swung back to even. I've been playing a lot of 50/1 on FTP and a bit on Cake, last months undoing was a couple hair pulling head explosion sessions 4 tabling 100/200. These are big games for me, big games for almost anyone to be honest, but I like the spots I picked and I know I'd do the same thing if confronted with them again -- sometimes there are lessons to be learned about this type of stuff, sometimes its the right time to absorb some risk.
----
Last part of series came out, well received, and I had like 8 guys contact me about coaching so I dunno maybe I'm giving out too many of zee trade secrets hah. I'll try to get some hours in with everyone come January but older students will get first priority for sure and it all depends on how my courseload looks.
-------
Final semester at U of M --- Contemporary philosophy... expect lots of fist slamming "Abortion is wrong!" in this class. Its weird with classic philosophy people are so disinterested in the material that they are able to take a real objective stance and argue logically, as philosophy dictates.
Then you apply the same framework to abortion, gun control, euthanasia, same sex marriage and people turn into monkeys about it. I THINK THIS, I FEEL THAT -- don't think don't feel...., evaluate, deduce, be open minded and something intelligent will probably come out.
I love writing about this stuff and thinking about it, but man I expect frustrations from this course. Other classes are criminology and 19th century political philosophy.
True capstone courses for the business major : ) I've found the business school tends to ruin a lot of subject matter for me, so I think any continuing education I do with respect to business will be self-taught, through experience, or through mentors/people I know.
--------
Cool cool new video series idea introduced by e-mail today to all instructors here. I think something really great is going to come out of collaborating with the whole crew whether its what is originally expected or not.
More on this when details get set.
---------
For my business information technology class last semester we had to create a website to following news and such on a topic of our choice. The goal was to utilize a bunch of web-based search tools and what not to follow a topic and evaluate the tools.
I chose internet gaming banking regulations, UIGEA HR 2267 etc etc -- you can check er out here if you want.
jegerer330.wikidot.com
Limited functionality on wikidot, but it was one of the more interesting projects we got to do.
You can check out the class site at www.howcanifindit.com --- go to schedule and browse the lectures there is actually a million amazing special purpose tools you've probably never tried. Very unique course for b-school, ended up being pretty easy just required lots of hours.
But it was based on the premise that knowledge isn't what you know anymore, its what you know how to find....
Couple cool tools.
www.diigo.com
www.joongel.com
www.blinkx.com
Diigo is just the sickest bookmarking site out there, head and shoulders above Delicious or anything else you might use... give it a try
Joongel is a metasearch engine that has a decent interface and masssive amount of search engines and tools integrated.. its my new homepage.
Blinkx is a vid search engine far superior to google, it searches google/metacafe/yada/yada/yada and has some cool viewing and sharing features.
Each lecture in there has a list of tools for that category.
---------
More blogs coming, I'm not even done with semester yet, still gotta do 10 pg paper on Buddhism and death, I think I'm gonna right about the universal spiritual benefits of some buddhist practices -- ie. things a christian could do to enrich life without being blasphemous.

And a couple pictures for friends/family/weirdfolkswhoareinterestedinmypictures.

Can't wait to get on the snow again.

So this from my change cup. Mostly ones/fives. I carry a money clip and like to have exactly 3 cards and 1 bill in it -- fits right, its not messy that way. So everytime I break a $50/$100 I end up with all kinds of change I throw in this big jug because I'm too lazy do anything else with it. But then I end up with this gangster stack of 1/5/10/20's thats pretty embarassing to take to bank, I mean its like 1-2k in small bills. If they didn't know better I gotta either look like A) a financially responsible drug dealer, B) male stripper, C) elite pick pocket.
But hey, I can't in good conscience carry a wallet with all kinds of bills and whathaveya in it due to an irrational Seinfeld related fear.
----
cuz life's been handing me some lemons lately. Health among other things have been going poorly.
Its easy to get frustrated having so many health issues at my age, specially after working to hard to eat right/exercise/get sleep/ avoid alcohol and smoking yada yada yada... but hey I'm making the right plays right the rest is what it is.
Anyways started two new meds for crohn's mercaptapurine (6-mp) and Humira. One is a pill which is easy biz, take once daily... but now consistently 5 hrs after taking I feel like I just smoked the worlds largest joint... but nothing is funny... I just feel really hazy in the head and kind of weak in the body. I end up just taking a nap to kind of escape it, makes working very tough.
This weekend I started the Humira which is a self-injection every two weeks.. no big deal right? Cept I had to do 4 of those things Saturday. The injecting part is pretty ok, but what sucks is you gotta hold the needle in for ten seconds while the medicine is released from the pen... and the medicine... sweet jesus it stings! I don't know why, but soon as that stuff squishes into your subcutaneous it feels like you squashed the queen bee and the hive is seeking revenge. Soo far no serious side effects so I'm happy about that. Both meds are powerful and the potential for some rough effects is pretty high so I guess I'm lucky.
-------
Haven't found a ton of time for poker between school, and making some videos for you folks. I am pretty much on a schedule where I play all day Fri and Saturday and not at all during the week. I'll probably start sharing more information on my sessions in the blog now since you can just check out my results on FTP and Stars on pokertableratings.com now anyways. The only reason I mgiht not is because I know I have some friends/family that read this blog now and again and I don't want them to worry hah.. .it really can appear to be a chaotic storm from the outside looking in.
Course that doesn't include cake or AP which have had some biggish games lately.
I'm kind of glad TR started when it did because I haven't done very well since coverage and I'm sure this does me a service at the tables. October was actually my second best month ever but I made most my gains in the first week so thats not tracked.
-------------
Vid series is out right now. I didn't have a real depthy theme I wanted to cover, but to be honest pushing certain themes seems to do a disservice to videos. First part got good comments and reviews, you guys have no idea how seriously I take it when someone rates me below a 9 haha. I feel like the videos get more and more boring.. and I try to be enthused by jeeze its boring to talk into a computer about poker. And to be honest, improving at poker is boring.. its when it comes into fruition thats exciting.
------
Poker this month has been up and down, good 25/50 action on ftp and cake and some 50/1 on cake as well. I've only played like 5k hands this month though so results are pretty much meaningless, its cool though my win rate at quarter fifty is still holding at 13bb/100 over an increasingly large sample.
-----
Some pictures because my blogs are so ridiculously text heavy.. and for Papa J who keeps up with me here, hey dad!

This is the gameday setup.... well roughly.. for away games we go 50", 40", 28" monitor on the AC unit there hah... they are good days.

Roommate, Pseudo roommates from apt across hall we basically share these 2 apts, and dance team neighbors.
Man I was going to add some more better pictures but this blogging software is such a beat. I really want to make my own site or go back to 4cardpoker.blogspot.com but I feel I owe it to Tay to bring whatever traffic I can.
Feel free to follow, some random stuff, some poker stuff, lots of stuff for this one class on biz info tech that I'm taking.

"Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you're gonna be up again. But life goes on. Remember that. Money isn't real George. It doesn't matter. It only seems like it does."
--- This is quote from George's dad (Ray Liotta) in Blow. Couple things to be said.
1) Ray Liotta is probably the most underrated actor ever, he doesn't have the star factor and never takes over the screen like a Phillip Seymour Hopkins can, but he is consistently solid in a long line of movies with a wide array of roles. Fact.. not opinion : )
2) Blow is better the 3rd 4th and 5th time then it is the 1st or even second... its a lot richer movie than it seems on the surface and initially you are so caught up in the story itself that you can miss a lot of the more detailed interplay.... great movie.
3) This quote is true.... especially true of poker.... and somehow sooooooo easy to forget.

UFC tonight baybay, there is nothing I'd rather do on a Saturday night than get together with some friends have a good meal and some snacks and watch some MMA (no homo).. but seriously nothing is more relaxing.
I've got bets on Lyoto, Velasquez, and Hardonk... I don't like the last bet really but whatever. And I'm paying a big price on Lyoto/Velasquez but I'm confident in paying for them because they are both smart fighters. I won't take a dumb fighter at 3:1 if he is fighting a guy with no arms.
-------
In other news.. Saturdays in general are awesome. Today I got up played 5 board Omaha showdown with my roommates and one of my best friends from home for like 2 hrs, did Plyo (P90x), now just chilling watching the game and cooking some chicken breast and veggies.
--------
Bout to do another boot camp of P90x to make up for the massive unhealthy fest that was Vegas/WSOPC. If anyone does P90x and wants to make me a schedule hit up here:

Good chance to make me work like a dog for a week if I have taken some of your money at the tables : )

Here is my twitter account for anyone that is interested. Lots of stuff from this class I'm in, but I'll be updating on poker and such too. I wish I could get it to feed right into this blog because then I'd post a bunch of small stuff more often, but oh well.
--------------
Hammond, IN WSOPC trip was pretty quick but fun. Played the 2k PLO of course, got 24 people. Saw some faces from WSOP cash games this summer which was cool, met Madh0use who I have played with for quite some time.
Ended up chopping the tourney because it was running way long and no one wanted to finish/come back the next day or rather later that day. Then I flipped for the ring running a PLO board 3 times with madhouse, he won. I didn't want the ring, but the tourney player involved in the chop said he'd give 1k for it was I wanted that hah.
Oh well made 11k for that, so I broke even on the weekend travels. Horseshoe in Hammond is actually super nice, its decorated better than any casino I've been in, including all th LV casinos. Its not tacky or over the top like most. On the downside its in a junky part of town and has no hotel at it.
------
I've continued to run uber hot online. Put up a big month at this point although I shouldn't speak too soon couple swinging sesses could wipe it out. FTP has run it twice option now at 10/20+ which is really really cool. You could argue that I shouldn't run it twice because I probably have mental edge over opponents so it will tilt them more.... but hey, I value my sanity as well and anytime I can reduce the poker stress without reducing the bottom line materially.. I'm doing it. ......... This does introduce a new form of tilt though, the RunitTwice tilt of losing both pots... I haven't quite got it in my head yet that I'm not supposed to chop every single time hah.

That's all for now guys, GL at the tables

I remember they had that WSOP talked to lana about it to no avail though.. supposedly new update for blog engine coming down the road.. fingers crossed.
Well, I've got 25 mins to kill in McCarran and I'm stuck at this recharge station so I have laptop juice on plane.. furthermore no one likes to play me in zee poker anymore, soooooo blog post.
Got KO'ed from the 10k PLo at bellagio a couple hrs ago, only 16 players.WOWOW... I can't beelive I flew out for that, and there was no PLO cash not even in Bobby's. I went out in 6th to a 3 way all-in possibly for the tourney, with AKK9 vs AA68 ds, and QJT9 ss.... I had AKK9 and 3-bet an open in late pos from Ted Lawson (blind 1/2k I have around 40k... pretty standard biz). Never really got anything going, survived 2 all-ins, and made a 25%er or so suckout against Jason Mercier to hang around but I was so very unsuccessful in picking up pots w/ out showdown late game which is usually my bread and butter.
In other news, Jason Mercier is a pretty cool cat, and I was really impressed by the way he handled beats.. towards end of day 2 he lost like 5 all'ins in a row just literally sits back takes one deep breath and onward. Even if his PLO game isn't top tier, which it is at least for tourneys cash is different beast, he will still dominate in years to come because of mental edge, its just easy to see he's unphased.
Played some more with Devilfish he was on my right the whole night, always entertaining. I got knocked out by Ted Lawson, yes Ted Lawson, second time in my short live career he's knocked me out of tourney.. its embarassing to be honest. He means well, but he just has no clue and is far and away the worst player in that small field despite winning that monster 3-way pot for probably 60% of chips in play maybe more. Also met Ben Lamb, Benba, and EDWARDHOPPER from stars. Both guys who have been around as long as I have, which in the online biz 5 years without a busto story about you makes you a bonafide vet.
I was just talking to Harrington10 about this last week, we could probably count on both hands the guys who have been around more than 3 or so years. The names I see at the 5/10-25/50 games these days are just not the names that were there in the past, which is a little scary because it means lots of good players have been eaten alive by the learning curve.
Ah well, 80k + 5k watch would have made for a nice weekend, but you gotta win pots to win tourneys : )
I'm headed home today, bumped up flight so I could get home and visit parents real quick then head to Hammond, IN for this 2k plo tourney they are running.. also have a 200+R plo should be really fun.
I wanted to get a jump in out here but they wouldn't take me today for AFF on late notice so I decided to eat the flight change cost and check out of hotel day early and peaccccce.
Someone remind me to write a little bit about playing a nitbomb style, I had a lot of thoughts about where you get value when you have a tight image when playing yesterday because I was so card dead.. but in the end that allowed me to manufacture quite a few big pots for myself while the table literally had no idea how full of shit I was lol. ---- They kept commenting, everytime you 3-bet you hit an A ..... well... maybe I don't have AAxx haha
Oct 18, 09 02:51:58
lmao 16 players! glad i talked myself outta throwing 10k at a donkament.
is that 2k plo the wsop circuit?
Oct 18, 09 09:57:48
yep, starts 3 pm at horseshoe in hammond (2day) I feel like turnout will be ok, they had like 1500 people for a 1k NLHE the other day
P90x Doubles are the truth! I had splurged a bit much this weekend, big desert Thursday, burger/fries/shake at Fuddruckers with the parents Friday, candy + alcohol during game saturday.. so I decided to boot camp it this week.
Whenever I lose motivation or fall of the wagon I do a week or two of an especially intense schedule to get back into things, then when you cut back to the usual it feels real easy. So anyways I'm doing either P90x doubles all week or P90x + running and it is heaaaaavy.
Oh well, going to LV this weekend for the 10k plo at the Bellagio so i'm sure I'll be slacking on at least the diet there. Have gained back some weight since hospital stay but still about 12 lbs away from my goal, gonna take awhile though because I'm not doing any bulking workouts and planning to keep reducing BF % from 10-12 (not confident i'm my caliper skillzzz) down to 8ish.
In other news if anyone knows some good instense yoga routines that run 45 min-hr ship it over. You will never feel better than you do after you finish the 1.5 hr Yoga X routine for P90 but man its time consuming.
----
Poker has been pretty non-existent this month, until this weekend I had played about 300 hands. I'm up to 4k hands but thats still pretty weaksauce. That said I've been running unlike I've run all year, I'm 30k above equity on the month.. running into such bad spots, but sucking out left and right. As opposed to the running good istuationally that I've had the past few months and running uber below equity for the year.
-----
Watching the iowa game this weekend was prettttty sick, I got a new tv a little bit ago 50 in. And my buddy and I put my 40 in out in the living room next to.. two channels and 90 in of viewing pleasure all day.
------
2:30 here and I ahve my worst day of class tomm so I'm outta here
