...at 6max at least. I put in 3 hours today so far. I split my action between HU (1h) and 6max (2h). I dropped 2 1/2 buyins at 6max in about 1.3k hands. I really felt good while playing, my reads were on most of the time and the rest will come eventually.

www.pokerhand.org/
This is more of a HU hand, but as it happened when I opened a new 6max table it gets in this category. As I later found out this guy was on massive tilt, because he had some kind of loosing streak (oh well, who doesnt!). I had the best hand all the way and caught a lucky river as it completed his straight. I dont like his overshove though.

www.pokerhand.org/
Next.

www.pokerhand.org/

Same guy as first hand. This time he gets the absolute best card in the deck. Now I have trip kings and there are two flush draws + the straight draw out there. He hit his gutshot and I manage not to boat up on the river.

www.pokerhand.org/

Top set gets sucked out on on the turn, but this time I manage to re-suck-out on the river.

www.pokerhand.org/

Another suckout over suckout situation.

www.pokerhand.org/

Beautiful coldcall of my 4bet. This flopbet cries TT-QQ to me and once the turn and the river are the A as well I valueshove. Obv he went runner-runner quads.

I have some beautiful HU hands to show, but for now I´m off to watch some TV with girlfriend etc. GL.

Well, well. Not much has changed for me so far. I cant win at 6max and I´m "crushing" heads up. I run at 32BB/100 over my 4.5k hands so far at 100NL HU this year. Yes, sample size, but it still feels great to run good. My 6max experience 2009 is salty to say the least.

www.pokerhand.org/
Set over set. Next.

www.pokerhand.org/
Standard. Standard outcome as well. Nvm, nothing I can do.

www.pokerhand.org/
I still win though. Here this guy gets out of line with the bare nutflush draw in a single raised pot and I hold.

www.pokerhand.org/
Now on to the fun. I catch a lucky turn and go for max value on the river.

www.pokerhand.org/
I had a fairly aggro match against this guy. He took me for 1 buyin here and I went on quite a roll stacking him 5times in the following 30min.

www.pokerhand.org/
He had some weird betsizing going on and this was one of his better hands he was stacking off with.

www.pokerhand.org/
I put him on a 6 or a 5, maybe 77 or 88 so I went for a somewhat smallish riverbet. Nh though.

www.pokerhand.org/
Not much of hero call against this guy, his betsizing gave him away imo.

www.pokerhand.org/
You can tell, that he was fed up with me. I actually tanked for almost my entire timebank when he instaovershoves the turn. When you think about it this just doesnt make sense. He´s not betting a hand for value that he didnt raise the flop with. He might have caught trip 3´s but that is about it. Given that this is not at all likely and that I´ve seen his previous tendencies I called. Nh.

I have quite a good time thanks to the HU play, which makes me forget about my 6max pain. I´m about to start another session, hopefully things will go my way soon. GL.

As well as I was running in HU, I still cant do much in 6-max. I played 2.2k hands of 100NL 6 max yesterday and dropped about 5 buyins. It was ridiculous at times, but I also just had a lot of spots where I was screwed either way. I couldnt fold. I just ran my flushes into bigger ones, my big pairs into even bigger ones. Just one of those days.

On a sidenote, I play around with HEM now and I find this EV adjusted amount of $ amusing. I dont really know what it does. I´m not sure if this just takes care of all the all in situations or any hand for that matter. But looking at this stat can make you sad at times. I get it now why people often whine about this. As I dont know too much about it, I wont care too much. It´s all about getting your money in good, isnt it?

Some hands.

www.pokerhand.org/
Sometimes it´s hard to adjust to 6max after playing HU for a few hours. I knew this guy didnt have anything.

www.pokerhand.org/
This guy was instashoving anything before so his 4bet (?) really made me think he had something good. Turned out I was freerolling on the turn and couldnt hit.

www.pokerhand.org/
It´s sad when anyone hits anything against you. But there isnt much I can do.

www.pokerhand.org/
If this guy played the hand like this with the intention of so doing I congratulate him. I might have folded the turn, but once he checks I dont give him credit for a king on the river, because in my mind he would have tried to get more money in on the turn. This way I obv pay him off on the river.

www.pokerhand.org/
Aggro blind vs blind. I suck out on the flop, he catches runner-runner. Nh.

www.pokerhand.org/
The games are good.

www.pokerhand.org/
Beautiful setup. I try to isolate the not so good player. This is an obv scenario so the other can easily repop me fairly light. He doesnt. I suck out on the flop and he catches runner-runner. Nh.

I now have to study a bit and will get in a strong session later before I catch a movie with a couple of friends. GL.

Happy New Years everyone! I hope you all had a blast, although I dont really know what the fuzz is all about 31st of December is not really different from many other days, is it? But so be it! I already played a little bit of poker this year. I played about 1k hands of HU 100NL and ran pretty good. Here are some hands:

www.pokerhand.org/
This guy was defending to 3bets pretty light so I would have not had a problem getting it in on the flop or turn, but he decides to play it passively. Nh, I could find a fold on the river to those ridiculous odds.

www.pokerhand.org/
This is why 3betting HU is key. People just go crazy. I 3bet this guy 5 times out of the last 8 hands, with hands each time. He obv was fed up.

www.pokerhand.org/
Talk about defending lightly.

www.pokerhand.org/
I know over time I will be a winner when I get it in 80-20 most of the time. But hey once in a while it´s cool to get a buyin in the 4$ pot with 100% equity.

http://www.pokerhand.org/
Talk about those 80-20´s.

www.pokerhand.org/
I would not believe his hand when I saw it. I dont fold to min-3bets combined with a 3times overbet on the flop when I have top pair!

www.pokerhand.org/
This is probably a mistake on my part. The queen is not very likely to have helped him, possible though. It´s hard to put him on a hand here that he would spew around with, maybe the nuts. Oh yes, the nuts. No problem read was off.

www.pokerhand.org/
Flop the nuts, dodge some outs on the river. That´s what my theme for 09 is gonna be!

I´m back in my appartment after a 2 week home vacation. To maintain supernova on stars I will have to kick in with 6max, just playing HU wont do it. But my plan from the beginning was to split my play between the two. GL.

December 30, 2008

08 is gone (well almost!). Firstly, I have to say that there isnt too much ugly to write about, some bad things happened late in the year pokerwise, but overall I did have a good year at the tables. I got rid of some bad habits e.g. my tilt-entering-tourneys-that-are-to-big-for-my-roll type stuff. I just dont do these stupid things anymore, they´re no good for developing a roll.

This has been my first year at the cash games tables. Well, I did start out October 07, but until Jan 08 I basically got rid of my 4k tourney roll that I grinded out since Sept 06, by playing 200NL with no clue at all. I really started to focus and try to improve, which I did. On Jan 1st I was playing 25NL with 1300$ in my stars account. I now finished a 5-figure (low, but still) year. I am paying 8 times the big blind I was back in January and have about 8 times the roll online on stars.

As far as the goals I set myself are concerned I reached my maingoal to make a noticeable jump in limits. I did not set up a roll on another site yet. I just felt it wasnt worth the hassle, as it is easy to get X amount of tables on stars + I wanted to finish Supernova. I finished with about 137.000k VPP this year, which is not bad considering that I was playing 4 tables 25NL in Jan.

98% of my play was cash this year, but I also played around with some SnGs. I played 1107 Sit n gos this year with a profit of 2100$. I´m writing this on my phone and dont have graphs here, but for those who are eager to see those things check out "Swoop07" on Pacific and "Swoop_007" on stars via Sharkscope.

As I said I´m writing this from my new Blackberry Bold, which is a cool thingy but the only image I have on here is my 100NL graph. For the other limits I just wrote down my figures and I´m not even sure if the graph will be uploaded properly, but what the heck I´m writing this on my phone!!! Yay 2008!

As I said I dont know how this looks on a regular pc, but what the heck. My other stats are:

25NL =>
Hands: 40858 Profit: 505.85$
50NL => Hands: 157158 Profit: 3278.85$
100NL => see graph (hopefully)
200NL => Hands: 76281 Profit: -4064$

I´m not gonna hide the ugly. 200NL has been not pretty if possible I will upload my graph later here in this space. I wont whine about how bad I run, cuz I know everyone runs bad and this and that. Someone who follows this blog, will know how ridiculous it got at some point. But for myself I´d like to focus more and work even harder to overcome this.

I set a goal to play a significant amount of HU, which I failed to do. I only made it 10% of my game, which will change 09. I played about 40k hands of HU this year and finished as follows:

50NL: 17.053 hands Profit: -217.02$
100NL: 22.312 hands Profit: 1800.76$

I´m new to Holdem Manager and dont know yet how to filter out HU hands only. These stats are from PT3 and are lacking today and yesterday.

As far as goals for 09 are concerned I´d like to achieve quite a bit pokerwise.

- make HU at least 33% of my play (might be even more, but I have to adept to the swings a little bit better)
- play 30k hands a month (this year was 470.000 hands, but dont know about my timeschedule yet so we´ll see)
- play 600NL HU by Dec 31st 2009 / 600NL - 1000NL 6max
- Profit

Those are lofty goals, but this is what summaries are for, right? The best of luck to all of you who read this blog and especially thank your for the latter. GL.

get a coach. your struggles at 200nl can easily be corrected. you have the roll necessary to afford some coaching, so just spend the money and your game will drastically improve. i totally believe your goals are achievable, but you need some help.

i highly recommend duckslayer2k. he is a CR coach and has done wonders for my game.

Not so much, but for me everytime I move back down to 100NL to heal I feel like it is as easy. I know it´s a common occurance that a new level seems to be more difficult at first, but that big of a difference between 100NL and 200NL seems crazy to me. Anyways I played 90min and finished just under 400$ (4BI). I could only play 4 tables (dont have my screen with me at home) and it gets boring at times, but the games are still very good so that made up for it. Here are a few hands.

www.pokerhand.org/
I didnt really know what to think of his min-reraise from the blinds. He played 12/7 over quite a few hands, but folding is never an option! Anyways, once I see this flop easy shove. Turned out I was good the whole way.

www.pokerhand.org/
I got flamed in chat after this hand by the guy w/ KJhh. Ofc it´s a cooler, but he could have raised the flop and I would have been forced to lay down. I just call the turn to squeeze out some $$$ from the obv "not so good" player, but didnt quite work.

www.pokerhand.org/
This hand turned out to be unfortunate. In the last 5 hands I played against this guy (within 2min) I had AA, AK and QQ before so clearly he got fed up with me. I snap w/ AK and he spikes on the river. Not much to be done.

www.pokerhand.org/
I got asked by the guy who lost this hand to post it here so I oblige and give my thought process. Preflop I debate to RR squeeze but AJs is a good enough hand to see a flop here 3 way. We see an ok flop, which he will cbet like 90% of the time at least. I have the gutshot and backdoor flush draw so I decide to see the turn, still thinking I have the best hand for all I know he has 98o and will barrel the picture cards I have in my hand on the turn. Turn brings an interesting card. I now have the flush draw combined with my gutshot. I think about getting it in, but what am I getting it in against? All better hands call, all worse fold. So I decide to call again opening up the possibility of a triple barrel. Should I hit I can play a big pot if he should have happened to have hand like AK or even better. Turned out he flopped the straight and I got lucky, but I´ll take it anyway. Nh.

I´m still waiting on my concierge money to clear I thought they might be faster with it, but I know read somewhere that it can take up to 7 days. I will play some 100NL until this happens and then will crush 200NL once and for all. GL.

First of all Merry Christmas everyone. Second of all the games are sick good around christmas it´s unbelievable. That being said. I run like cancer and as of my last session last night also play like that. I was proud that all the bs didnt get to me and that I could still play my normal game. Well I now have something to hate myself for or at least be mad at me. Here are some hands.

http://www.pokerhand.org/
Flip won. Just for the record.

www.pokerhand.org/

Christmas spirit. People try to give away money.

www.pokerhand.org/
Even though this is not a beautiful flop for my hand I dont see how I can fold once so much money is in the middle.

www.pokerhand.org/
This is the guy who won the hand from above. I decided to double barrel because I pick up a gutter to my flush draw and I do know that when I hit on the river I will get paid off by a lot of hands.

www.pokerhand.org/
Middle set no good against the christmas sharade.

http://www.pokerhand.org/
This is the hand I was talking about earlier. I instantly quit after this hand, because right at the time I knew it was a dumb play to make against a somewhat tight player with a tendency to check guess. I knew it and I made it anyway. So dumb on my part. I really, really hate it and looking at it makes me even sicker. But you have to stand up for what you´re doing, havent you?

Even though I went through 35% of my online roll the last couple of weeks I still have 40 buyins for 200NL online. Right now I do lack confidence though I played over 70k hands of 200NL and have done shit so far. I will use today to reflect. GL to all you.

I start to get the feeling that 200NL is cursed at least as far as I´m concerned. Yes, variance is a bitch and so on and on, but still. I know when I move past 200NL in a month or two I will look at this and think to myself how I could have said such a thing but currently the way I run at this limit is just beyond laughable. Anytime I take 5buyins they vanish. Meh.

www.pokerhand.org/
Thanks for taking 17% equity on the turn.

www.pokerhand.org/
Super standard, I know, I know. Still not good for the overall mood of mine.

I´m done and off to relatives for christmas celebration. Hope everyone else runs better.

As I was waiting for my concierge money to clear I played a bit of 100NL and 5 (five!) Double or nothing Sit n gos. I won 32$ in the first one and managed to scoop all 5 of the donk n gos. Woohoo! That puts me down only 473$ on the day, score!

Also, those one table tournaments are still so filled with stupidity it´s crazy. Take a look.

Today was a great day to be at the tables. Plenty of good action flying around. I didnt manage to win anything and ended up down like ~700$. This is only like 3 1/2 buyins, but feels bigger because it´s 200NL. You cant be resultoriented, can you. Here are some hands from today´s session.

www.pokerhand.org/
Great way to start off a session. The K turn is a perfect card it gives me two pair and hits the top end of his range pretty hard. Easy stack off, beautiful setup.

www.pokerhand.org/
Main theme. The worst players at the tables hit anything against me. They spew around for hours, once they´re in a hand with me this seemed to be changing rapidly. I simply refuse folding overpairs to those kind of players.

www.pokerhand.org/
One way to loose a flip.

www.pokerhand.org/
Aces queen kicker in a reraised pot against a halfstacker. Nh.

www.pokerhand.org/
This guy was my nemesis today. He was the reason anyone was at this table, but he just seemed to win every pot he entered. As can be seen in the next hand.

www.pokerhand.org/
Even though we´re 150BB deep, I just dont think this is a fold at any point. He was playing so irratically, beautifully shown by his minraise over and over again. He caught a lucky flop so be it.

I also cashed in my first concierge receipt today (Blu-ray player). Overall I can be pretty pleased with how the year has turned out so far. 200NL wasnt really great so far, but this´ll turn I´m sure. GL.
