What's Your Edge
June 07, 2007
Amazingly enough, although I live in the Pacific Northwest, home to the java junkie, I don't drink coffee. In fact, I don't rely on any caffeine to get through my days. These days I'm often tired. My work days are long and I don't always get enough sleep.
My saving grace is music. It is what drives me forward when I am lethargic. At times, it gives me energy, other times its calms me. The range of music can lift that burden of long hours, inspiring me. The variety of music affects my moods significantly, and often leads to great focus and insight. The music source shifts around depending on my mood.
Lately I have been accessing sources like pandora.com, musicovery.com, xm satellite radio or even youtube. Each has their strengths or weaknesses in music delivery. Together, they create of package of music delivery that ensure I get through each day. I won't share my particular listening choices because everyone has different artists, groups and musical genres they prefer. This post isn't about saying one is better than another. Only that music is one of the great contributions to society and life. Most importantly, I would just like to say a "thank you" to all the creative musically gifted individuals who make the 'java' that gets me through each day.
