I lost 24k today.

Obv I played poorly and I ran really poorly too. I played 3 separate sessions and just lost more each one. Pretty sweet to have two -25k days in one month. That really helps you win. Maybe one day I'll learn to always play my A game. For now, I'll just continue being a good player who can never get past the biggest leak in his game.

I'm down 4k on the month now. I may just try to get to even and quit for the month. I've had a few nice stretches over the last two months, but it's mostly been very frustrating and stressful.

Last month I had a long stretch where I was break even. Actually, it started at the end of August and extended through much of September. It wasn't until I started playing PLO that I went on a very hot run and ended up having one of my better months. Right after Aruba I got into a rut again. I figured that since I was dropping in stakes due to the legislation that I might not get back to even for the month. I got to thinking and wondered why I had gotten away from PLO after I got home from Aruba. It didnt' make a ton of sense since I was beating the game so well just a few weeks ago. Anyway, it looks like PLO is going to save this month for me too. I was stuck almost 35k at my peak and now I am up around 18k. I have been absolutely crushing the PLO games. I have played mostly 5/10 but I've played a little higher too. I like playing 5/10, because its a very swingy game and it can get ugly at the higher limits. For instance, during a session yesterday I dropped 5 buyins to a guy HU in like 20 min. I wasn't really playing bad I just was getting in bad spot. Luckily, my other tables were going better and I won that session. The thing is that people just make a ton of pretty huge mistakes in PLO. Those mistakes all add up. Also, I think that people tend to tilt easier in PLO than NLHE. I have been using a super aggressive style to help encourage tilt by my opponents. I raise and reraise a ton and I basically just mash the bet pot button. This is a style that I have deemed a bet pot monkey style. I think it's more effective in PLO than NLHE. I would never play like this in NLHE. I'm hoping to get up about 30k this month. That would be a great comeback in my opinion.

I had a pretty solid weekend. We had a golf event yesterday. Basically it's a philanthropy event put on by a sorority where you go out and play golf. YOu are supposed to get 4 girl caddies for every group. We got fucked over and only had 2 girls, one of which was one of my group members girlfriend. They also weren't drinking. My friend sean and i decided to ditch our group and go find some better people to hang out with. We ran into my friend Carrie who was caddying with two of her roommates that are pretty cool. We ended up just hanging out with them most of the time. We basically just drank a lot and hit a few shots every hole. We usually either hit a drive or a ball from 100 yards out. All in all, it was a good time.

I didn't take many pictures, but I said I'd start putting some more pictures in here. So here are the 3 pics I have from the golf.

That's me driving a cart.

One of the caddies in the group we joined. She's a pretty hilarious girl and managed to crash the cart into a building because she was going backwards and not looking.

I decided to play some when I woke up today because I woke up quite a bit before I had class. Some guy tilted to me pretty bad at 5/10 PLO. I was able to get this stack in about an hour. I was on for 5k though.

I decided to play a pretty long session tonight. I played some 5/10 and 10/25. There weren't many 5/10 games going and I was feeling good about my game. That's why I took a seat in the 10/25 game. I've never played so well and run so bad in my life.

Here's a quick run down if you care.
KK into AA twice, QQ into AA once, 910 on 91010 board loses to J10, AA vs KJ on Kxx board, AA vs set on 972 board, QQ on Q10x board vs KJ.

Every one of those pots was 5k+. I feel just absolutely sick right now. This is the most frustrating run of my life. I think that the legislation is putting added pressure on me to win. I know my days might be numbered. I played so well today though...UGH.

I'm pretty sure I can get back to even by the end of the week. At least that is the hope. If I can get back to even with 10 days left in the month I think I can still clear a pretty decent profit.

One great thing about playing a lot of hands with good players is that you can minipulate your play based on your image. For instance, you can make more 2 barrell bets when you know that your opponent often respects your turn bet much more than your flop bet. In addition, you can make bluffs in spots where you usually have a hand or in a spot where a bluff wouldn't seem very likely. It's important to take advantage of situations you can expoit against good players. If you don't, you will have troube making money from them.

I typically play a good player who knows my game much different than I would play the average player at my table. I know that I will get respect in certian spots and that allows me to run bluffs I wouldn't try against a good player. Also, I know to get away from hands that I probably wouldn't get away from against a weak player.

Here's a spot against a player I have played a ton with. I am basically representing a set here. He knows thats exactly how I play a set. If he doesn't have a huge hand, he has to fold here.

I got killed again yesterday. I had a typically muddy tilt session. My tilt sessions occur far too frequently lately. It's something I really need to fix. I used to be so good at not tilting. I'm not really sure what has happened. I think part of the problem is playing too many tables. I start to just bleed money and I call off way too much.

How am I going to fix? I am going back to the basics. I am going to play 4-6 tables of 5/10 and just grind out profits. I think that playing 8 tables was okay on party with the scripts, but it's pretty difficult anywhere else when you need to type betting amounts in. Therefore, 6 is the most I'm gonna let myself play. Back when I beat ub for 10bb/100 I used to play 4 tables. That sounds fine with me for now. I just want to fix these gapping leaks in my game and get back into the black for the month. The 5/10 game on UB plays so easy that it shouldn't be a problem. After dropping 12k or so last night at 10/25 I picked up 3k today at 5/10.

Ah. The ole 95s utg raise followed by calling a 3 bet. Excellent poker. I of course was a bit worried about AK or a set. The hand was standard until the turn. I checked because I wasn't so sure where I was at and I wanted to see how he would react. He almost instantly bet pot. His bet was so quick that I ruled out a set. I was thinking he might have Ak, but my gut told me I was good.

I guess he put me on JJ. I dont know.

I've got a barndance tonight. It's a thing that the frats and sororities do down here. Basically, you dress up like a farmer and then go to a farm that we rent out to drink a lot of beer. It's going to be like 30 degrees tonight, so it should be interesting. Unfortunately, I suck and I couldn't find a date. I asked several girls and none of them could go. I ended up just asking one of my good friends to go since one her friends is going with another guy in my house. I'd rather not go with a girl that has a boyfriend, but it will be a lot of fun regardless. I tried to get two people to find me a random date I didn't know, but they didn't come up with any good solutions. It was down to asking a girl with a boyfriend or a girl thats "cool, but not that hot." I went with the girl I'd know I'd have a good time with. I'll try to take some pics to put up in my next post.

I decided to pull a Taylor this month and get stuck very bad at the start of the month. On the 1st or 2nd, I lost 25k. It was the day I found out Party was closing and I wan't thinking straight. On top of that I was running just awful. I'm talking 1 outers, etc. Oh well, shit happens. Since then I struggled more. The other thing was that I took out a ton of my money and therefore I wasn't able to play 5/10. I even got to where I was down almost 35k on the month.

The last week I have been running better and I've been playing some 10/25 due to the fact that I'm running better. It's nice to get back in that game regularly. As long as I don't hit a bad run I think I should be able to build up my online roll a bit to the point where I have enough to play that high all of the time. Right now I am only down 14k on the month. I think I can dig my way out of this and get back into the profits. At least, I'm feeling a lot better about that at this point.

This guy was tilting and I decided to play my hand like I had AK. I bet somewhat small on the flop and went with the check on the turn. Had he bet bigger on the turn I may have just called and bet the river allin. However, he bet small so I thought a push might look like I thought he was weak and that I could get him to fold. Therefore, I pushed and he called with his pair of 8s.

Unfortunately, that's the only HH I have from the last week. I'll try to get some more up.

Obviously before I made my last post I didn't know or think Party would shut down. I still think things are going to work out just fine. The industry will take a hit, but it will still be in operation. I think mostly we will see a shift in power as to what the big sites are. There is also the possibility that Vegas (MGM or Harrahs) steps in and buys Party, etc and then makes a push for legality in the US. I don't think that is all that far fetched. I'm basically hoping that is what happens.

As far as my plans go, I still plan on playing when I graduate. It's unlikely I will continue to play 10/20nl though. You will be more likely to see me at 2/4nl or 5/10nl. The main reason for that is that I don't want to keep a ton of money online right now and also that I think we will see the bigger games start to get noticeably more difficult. I feel like I can still make really good money at the lower stakes and it will also be less stressful.

As for now, I have taken all my money off all the sites. I probalby didn't need to do that, but I had too much money online to risk if everything went to hell. Right now, I have 40k left online. I am debating whether I should take more off. The least I would leave on would probably be about 20k. Right now I am still leaning towards taking 20k more off. I'm still a bit concerned about leaving money online. I figure I should error on the side of caution.

I haven't played any poker since Sunday. I have had school work to get done after missing a week of school and I've also been really caught up in all of the talk about the new law. I have spent more time than ever on P5 and 2p2. Even though it's all speculation at this point, I still am very interested to know what people are thinking. I think that we basically just have to wait and see how this all plays out.

I think I'm gonna throw some money on FTP on thursday and start playing some again. It's very strange to me to not have money on any site right now. For the past three years I have always had money online and I have alwasy been playing a lot in my free time. It's very weird to not even have the option to play right now.

Best thing for us all to do now is stay calm and play the waiting game.
