CARDRUNNERS
What's Your Edge

My Mom sent me this picture, which I thought was pretty funny.

Brystmar made this pumpkin which is awesome. If you don't get it. You need to watch this youtube clip:
I'm dressing up as Captain Hook tonight. Basically, my costume revolves around my roommate who looks exactly like Rufio:

I've been pushing him for years to be Rufio and he never would. We've finally convinced him and needless to say, I'm very excited. I'll post some pictures next week.
I just looked at the standings (views on blogs) and noticed that I'm in danger of being overtaken by iverson. Not good. If there's anything that motivates me to blog, it's keeping my blog towards the top. I remember the days when I was a top 3 viewed blog... Of course that was pre daut/cts/raptor/verneer. Oh well. At least I never let zimba get by me.
I've noticed a disturbing trend. I've seen several people wear jeans to the gym lately. I think its just ridiculous and frankly it makes me angry. I'm not sure what makes me more mad, people wearing jeans to workout or to golf. Both instances make the person look like a complete jackass.
I gotta go with the working out. Just awful.
I recently saw Burn after Reading and liked it a lot. I started to think about it and realized I really like every Coen brother movie I had ever seen. I decided to look them up on Wikipedia to see what movies I was missing. There were a few that stood out because I had heard of them, namely Miller's Crossing and Raising Arizona. Fargo, O brother where art though, No country for old men and BIG LEBOWSKI are all possibly in my top 10 favorite movies. Big Lebowski is a top 5 movie easy. Love it. I watched Miller's and Raising this week. I though Miller's was good, but it didn't do anything special. It was a typical gangster movie and, frankly, not as good as quite a few of the gangster movies I've seen. Raising Arizona on the other hand was great. It was funny with some great acting. I highly recommend it.
Oct 22, 08 16:12:27
Coen brothers have made some excellent stuff. OBWAT, NCFOM, Lebowski, Reading, Fargo, are so goood.
Oct 22, 08 16:49:52
CR is rigged, but at least now I finally know why the hammer came down in February. LOL
Oct 22, 08 17:00:32
fwiw, now that iverson is mentally stable his blog has interested me much less =p
Oct 22, 08 17:52:06
uummm......the main page counters havent worked in forever???? ...........
Oct 23, 08 12:43:47
If you go out to the course as a single and get paired up with a guy wearing jeans you know you are in for a LONG round.
Oct 24, 08 00:49:06
Saw a dude wearing jeans at the gym the other day, told him he was out of his element.
Oct 26, 08 22:03:12
Andrew how do I find your halloween costume from last year? Email me at rybittle@yahoo.com seriously I thought it was great
I've been downloading a lot of discographies lately. Two that stand out to me are Bob Marley and 2pac. I've always been a fan of both, but I never really ventured past their greatest hits. I'm glad I have lately, because they have some amazing songs that I wasn't familiar with. I can't get enough of either one of them right now. 2pac's album, Don Kulliminati, is probably the best rap album I've ever heard. Below is probably my favorite song on the album (I had never heard it until recently).
The funny thing is I'm the whitest kid you will ever see. I think I've gotta look like Michael from Office Space when I'm driving around in my 2001 Neon bumping 2pac. Come to think of it, I actually had an instance in my life not too long ago where almost the exact scene from office space played out. We were heading to the beach in my friend's car. He actually doesn't have his own car, but he borrows his parents cabrio:
There were 4 very white kids piled into this car. My friend also tends to listen to some hardcore rap. I don't know what the song was, but it wasn't something that even I would typically be listening to. We rolled up to a stop light and a car with 2 thuggish look black guys rolled up right next to us. They looked at us with almost a look of disgust. We couldn't do anything but laugh at how ridiculous we must have looked.
I saw Body of Lies last night. I thought it was very well done. Behind Batman, it's probably my favorite movie of 2008. It helps that DiCaprio and Crowe are probably my two favorite actors and I also tend to like Ridley Scott. Crowe's performance was great. Check it out.
Oct 17, 08 19:52:02
I am as white as you are but love me some hip hop. I own every Tupac CD ever and have to say that Me Against the World is his best work by far. Check it out.

I hated Crowe's character in that movie. Not Crowe's acting...but just his character drove me insane.
wow, it's been awhile. honestly, my life has been trucking along with the typical stuff. I just feel like I haven't had anything interesting to blog about. At least nothing fresh. Part of the reason I haven't been bloggins is that I HATE the new look of the blogs. There is also some issues with the functionality. Fear not. I saw the mockups for the fix today and they look great. Look for massive changes in the next couple of weeks. I know these blogs seem like a setback, but when the look is fixed and the bugs are worked out they will be a ton better then our old blogs. I couldn't really believe all the people asking to go back to our old blogs, because frankly they weren't very good. Anyway, I'm sorry for the mess that has been our blog network for the past month or so. Hopefully the improvements to the rest of the site made up for it.
The election is in full swing. I'm torn on who I'm going to vote for, but that's neither here nor there. What I want to share with you is some revealing picks of Sarah Palin.
How can you not vote for her???? Okay, that's actually a model for Hustler magazine. Looks a lot like Palin though...
In other news, I got a pedicure the other day. Was one of the best things I've done in awhile. It was definitely strange sitting in there at 2pm on a Friday with all other women, but I don't regret it one bit. My toenails were all nasty/dirty from wearing sandals out to the bars all summer. My nails have never looked better. I'm considering going back for the mani/pedi combo.
I was gonna wait to post this video when the embedding was working, but I gotta come back with a bang. I suggest sparking one up before you watch this. It's a movie where dogs are the actors. Incredible and hilarious at the same time.
http://www.break.com/
I'll be updating on a more regular basis going forward.
Oct 16, 08 19:56:47
Please ensure that your more regular updates include more pictures of 'Sarah Palin', many thanks!

manicures/pedicures? andrew, your rep around here might severely be damaged
This is great stuff.

fking STEVESBETS!!!
unfking believable!
please comment on this twilight zone moment.
My friend, Higgins - yes I hang out with a kid name Higgins - posted this in our FFL forum. It's titled Goat Screaming Like a Man. Hilarious.
He also posted this video which is pretty damn good as well. It's John Tesh rocking out the roundball rock. If you're a NBA fan, you have to check it out.
Aug 21, 08 10:11:22
First vid is hilarious.
I miss the NBA on NBC. I remember getting so pumped up when this song came on. Nothing got me going more than Bob Costas talking while the song is being played in the backround.
Aug 21, 08 12:00:01
that doesn't look like Red Rocks. The aerial shot is the casino on Catalina Island, off the coast of LA, CA; and the people are sitting in chairs on a level floor. Someone is confused. These discrepencies bother me.
We had a video meeting yesterday discussing some upcoming video series. There are some really cool ssplo and msplo things in the works, so I'm going to hold off on my moving up series for the time being. Things have gotten pretty hectic with CR stuff and I'm just not feeling PLO atm. It'll be better to take a break.
One of the main things that got me off PLO was MasterLJ coming into the office last week. I've been so down on NLHE for so long, but sitting down and talking strategy with an excellent player like him gave me the itch back. The only difference is that I don't have much desire to play HU. HU is a lot about game selection. I've always been terrible about game selection and that's one of the reasons I gravitated to PLO recently (most of the games are pretty damn good). Luckily, most of the FR nlhe games tend to be pretty damn good as well.
The plan is to grind out some solid money at FRnlhe. I need to get some solid wins under my belt after my disgusting downswing with PLO. I think it will help my peace of mind and game. So far, I've been doing well in 2/4 FR nlhe and I'm up 7 buyins over 4k hands.
I got a chance to hear a bunch of the tracks on the new The Game album. I think it's a classic The Game album with some great tracks. I shared My Life a few weeks back. I still love that song. I'm hard pressed to think of a verse in recent music as good as the first verse in that song. This song is tight as hell too. It loses some in the edit, but you get the idea. If you like rap, definitely get this album when it comes out next week.
People seemed to get pretty defensive of Barack in my last post. Maybe I'm just around it more because of the type of people I hang out with (young people who don't know shit about politics), but I just encounter tons of people who are voting for Barack for no particular reason. I think Barack is very impressive both as a person and when you look at what he's accomplished in such a short period (makes me think of Tommy Carcetti with his plans to hop from Mayor to the Governor to Pres haha).
Aug 19, 08 15:13:14
how do you as a white boy from chicago understand what some of the words mean in rap songs? i'm asking as a white boy in seattle and have no clue what some of these words mean....maybe do a blog talking about various hip hop/rap terms, i would find that enjoyable personally
btw, i have yet to talk to a black person that enjoys the wire as they say it's too real and depressing
Aug 19, 08 15:25:26
Glad to see you going back to NL.
I couldn't agree with you more about Barack. McCain scares me, and I'm typically Republican (Libertarian to be more specific) and I can't stand McCain. He used to be the stand-up guy from the Republicans who has turned into a guy who has essentially guaranteed us future wars.
All that said, Barack is extremely charismatic, and just might get my vote as well. I'd rather gamble on a fresh face with bright ideals, then someone like McCain who is turning out to be more and more a Bush clone. But at the end of the day Barack has extremely limited experience and people like him because he gives them a good feeling, not because he's qualified to be President. I feel like we're in a country these days that people cling on so hard to their (R) or (D) that they forget to evaluate the quality of the actual candidate. Not only that, but there aren't that many people that I can have a civil conversation about politics anymore, it gets heated quickly.
Aug 19, 08 17:32:35
are you trying to be a professional poker player again?
or do you play for entertainment?
are you ever gonna try making poker your main source of income again?
i'm not sure how to interprut this blog when you talk about poker. can't tell if you're playing to win money or playing mostly for fun/entertainment.
Aug 19, 08 18:41:39
lol at barack having "fresh ideas". Same ole liberal bullshit: raise taxes and transfer wealth to others ; people cant help themselves so government has to; worship the god of mother nature above all else ; blah blah blah. And barack has does nothing in the private sector thus has no fucking clue about running a business, making payroll and putting food on the table for your employees.
I don't like Mcain either. Mcain-Lieberman = bullshit; Mcain-Feingold = bullshit ; Mcain -Kennedy = double bullshit
The only thing I agree with is what wiggins just said about all these 20 year old idealistic poker players not having a fucking clue about politics
Aug 19, 08 23:34:49
hey andrew, i've been digesting a lot of your FR ring videos this week in preparation of returning back to the grind of live play. i was just wondering if you had been up to the new horseshoe over in hammond. i'm not sure whereabouts you live but i've been shooting down east on 90 and it only takes me about 20 min. from the UIC area.
btw, the new room is sick, sick, sick. just wanted to let you know how much your videos have helped out my game as of late.
Aug 20, 08 00:48:21
Gambler is right. Why are you playing exactly? Is it for fun or do you really want to have a solid winrate at midstakes games? You have so many pros around you for valuable insight. Your PLO goal of playing fizzled out after a week or so. I mean come on man, you gotta put some work into it. Your situation reminds me of a scene in Scarface:
"we're getting sloppy.
Our thinking, our fucking attitude,
you know?
We're not fucking hungry anymore."
Aug 20, 08 09:27:05
It's real simple...
If you like:
- higher taxes
- bigger government getting up in your business
- gay marriage (and all the benefits that go w/ it)
- for "rich" people to pay a higher % of taxes than everyone else
then you should vote for Obama.
I just can't understand why anyone wants to pay more in taxes and for the government to get bigger. Yet, this is EXACTLY what his track record is.
Obama can't magically end the war in Iraq. Know what your values and beliefs are and vote for the person that lines up w/ those...
For me, Obama stands for everything that I DON'T believe in.
Aug 20, 08 18:01:21
I bet if you polled all the idiots who get offended when raptor says "gay bet" and asked them who they were voting for President, the results would look something like this
Obama - 90%
Mcain - 0%
Ahmadinejad - 10%
Aug 20, 08 23:52:02
I got it if you want it. Or go here.....
http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1592719/16406451/
or maybe your a gangster geek and already have it.
Aug 21, 08 01:33:38
added like almost every track to my top rated ish.
the game has a sick way of putting lyrics together. how rap should be.
Alright guys, I'm gonna do it. I'll start at .25/.50plo and go from there. How many hands do you think I should play at each limit if I'm doing well off the bat?
Weekend was great. Weather kind of sucked, but I just needed to get away from the city for a few days. The internet didn't work up there which was a blessing in disguise. I missed most of the shitfest that was the menlo/lee video (was fun reading up on that today by the way). I also just got to unplug. I played some golf, did some fishing and just hung out with my family. I went 0/3 in risk games, which sucked, but I realized there is a lot more luck in that game than i remember.
I recently purchashed the worlds largest grinder by accident. I ordered one from a website. They called me later in the day and asked if it would be okay if they upgraded me to a larger one because they were out of the one I ordered. I said, sweet, do it. That was a mistake. See below. I included some normal items to show its scale. I'm working on exchanging it now.
I saw this ridiculous youtube clip on the CR off topic today. I thought it was worth sharing.I think it really showcases whats wrong with many of Barack supporters. I'm historically a republican, but very well may vote for Barack, so don't think I'm blindly bashing Barack or his supporters. It really does piss me off though that people want to vote for him for vague reasons like he is "hip" or "I feel like he'll bring change." If you feel that way, you should know why he will bring change. I was pretty busy today and didn't have time to play. I'll start grinding some 50plo tomorrow and give an update.

Hi Andrew,
If u do decide to make a moving on up type series at PLO, it would be really cool if u were to play enough hands at the lower stakes (.25/.50-1/2) to be able to do a video at each level, and then an overall review/HH replayer type video to illustrate key concepts and leaks etc at the lower stakes, before moving to the midstakes area of the series.
Best of luck whatever u decide tho.
Greg
Aug 13, 08 16:13:16
I've had the grinder mistake happen to me. Never have a stupid hippie friend pick up a grinder for you at the head shop she works at. Cause she might get a huge one.
Aug 13, 08 19:46:14
nice grinder dude. I picked one up last spring and absolutely love it. of course mine isn't quite that big. you must be seriously rastafarian now.
Aug 13, 08 21:29:14
Instead of going through all the trouble exchanging I say you just smoke a lot more weed.
Aug 13, 08 21:38:35
my wood grinder from amsterdam is the shit. the thing is fuckin huge lol
Aug 14, 08 03:41:57
weed paraphenalia is so 1973...math & THC= oil & water from what I can recall. Which is not much, hmmmm, where's the bong?
Aug 14, 08 09:17:26
Andrew,
Most people support Obama because they are Democrats who are against the war in Iraq. A major part of Obama's campaign is ending the war. So why does it matter what his accomplishments are?
Aug 14, 08 14:17:09
lol I love the poker business. site reps posting shots of obscene grinders? ship the good life...
Aug 15, 08 01:33:50
It seems narrow minded to judge Barack Obama's supporters with one news clip. That Barack Obama supporter represents what is wrong with our government. Kudos to Chris Mathews for pressing the issue and not letting him slide.
As far as Barack Obama is concerned he is an accomplished person. Black middle class male running as the favorite to be one of the most powerful politicians in the world. Case closed.
Aug 22, 08 02:20:15
You've got to be kidding me! You are thinking about exchanging that grinder!?!? I have two that are like it and they are the fucking shit. If you must get rid of it let me know, I will drive to Chicago and I will purchase it from you. I swear on this blunt that I smoke here and now that you will not regret keeping it.
I don't know when I'll blog next because I won't be on the computer much this weekend. I hate leaving with such a negative blog up. I wanted to touch on some regular life stuff.
I've been watching a few HBO shows lately. I really like Generation Kill. It's a new miniseries on Iraq. The interesting thing about it is that I feel like it shows a pretty realistic view of what it's like over there. It's scary stuff. It's very interesting though. The dialouge is very good as well. The other show I'm watching is a few years old, but still excellent. It's called Rome. It's pretty simple to understand what it's about. I'd highly recommend either one.
New Nas CD is very good, obv. It's interesting, I used to find myself very turned off to forms of entertianment (CDs, movie, whatever) that took a very political stance. I'm very different now. I'm not sure what is about me that changed, but I just became okay with it. I think part of it might be the fact that I'm just skeptical overall of both political parties. I was raised in a diehard right wing household. As I've gotten older, I've just realized that both sides suck and while I lean to the right, I'm definitely left on some issues. As I've said before, I smoke pot on a regular basis, gamble for a living and I'm a Christian. That can lead to some confusion. Anyway, the new Nas CD really bashes the right wing at times, but I'm okay with that.
On a poltical side note, we're working on creating a non bias video that will show each candidates stances on a number of key issues. Hopefully it will encourage people to get out and vote. I have the priveledge of living in IL where I know my vote won't count because we will go blue no matter what (especially with Obama running), but I'm still going to vote.
I've officially given up on the Tigers. I was at their 14th inning loss to the Sox on Tuesday. It was one of the most frustrating baseball games I've ever watched. Every relief pitcher on their team sucks. You just know that they are going to give up hits/runs when they come into the game. It's a sick feeling. I never once felt comfortable that they would win that game and I believe they were up 6-1. They lost last night. I'll be there tonight to likely see their asses kept swept. Pathetic. Hopefully they can make some moves for some pitchers in the offseason.
I took my gf out to get sushi last night. She had claimed she didn't like sushi, but I wasn't really sure if she had ever had it. I figured I'd force it on her and hope for the best. We went to Japonais, which is one of my favorite sushi places. It didn't work. She didn't like it. She was a champ and tried a bunch of different things though. There was one roll that I thought was going to make her throw up. That would have sucked! The upside was that I got to eat a lot of good sushi. We also went to see Pineapple Express after dinner. She did not like that either. She thought it was only funny for stoners. Maybe so. I couldn't say. Overall, I thought it was funny and worth seeing, but it was easily the worst movie from those guys and just drawn out at times. Bottom line, pretty good night for me and a pretty bad one for her. What can ya do?
I hope people don't think I'm a whinny bitch. I'm only a whinny bitch when I talk about poker. Otherwise, life is fucking good and I can't complain one bit.
Aug 7, 08 15:52:27
Blogs like this is why I still read your blog Wiggins. Regarding your PLO troubles, I don't understand: you are friends with some of the best PLO minds in the world, why can't you just get some help/coaching?
Aug 7, 08 20:41:40
Thank god there is one decent poker player who is a rebulican and has some morals left. I do all you do minus the pot smoking and thats more cause I am getting older. If we can only get some of them to wake up and legalize and tax us all would be good.
Go red
Aug 9, 08 17:19:56
poker is ghey sometimes...you're smart to retreat to the woods and smoke a bit. have fun.
oh and p.s. it's nice to read honest blogs about losing - we all lose, most lose a lot - not a lot of us fessup.
Related to that...I'm doing an analysis of the high stakes game that I'll post on my Blog soon...interesting to look at the biggest 50 winners/losers online over 18 months.
This challenge is going to have to continue somewhere below 2/4. I haven't had a single winning session in a week. I'm getting absolutely crushed.
Hands: 21,039
Profit: -15,483.95
Days remaining: 37
I couldn't be more frustrated/dissapointed.
I'm thinking about going down to like .25/.50. The upside to doing that is that I can grind out a lot of hands there and possibly make a moving up series for PLO. I think that would be good for the site and it could be interesting if I could actually move up and document it.
I don't know. I'm lost. At least I'm on pace with the hands.
Good news is that I'm heading to my cabin tomorrow. I couldn't be more excited to get up there. I'm really looking forward to playing some golf and doing some fishing. I also haven't spent as much time as I'd like with my family lately.
Aug 7, 08 11:36:12
that sucks the results havent been there for you recently. i think that a moving up series would be awesome for the site and something i would be really interested in wathcing and would probably help you get some confidence back
Aug 7, 08 12:11:13
Andrew,
It really sucks to see you run this bad. That said, i've always liked ur teaching style and it would be awesome to see u do a series on movin up from the micros, whether or not u decide to drop that low.
Whatever u decide, i hope ur back crushing 2/4-5/10 as fast as possible.
Greg

"Apparently, those who cant play poker run poker teaching sites"
Apparently, those who take cheap shots hiding behind a keyboard are assholes and need to grow up.
Andrew, use your support system and take some time off. It will do you a world of good.

Andrew: You'll get it going ol' chap. Enjoy the vacation.
Lee: jephila is a loooooong time CR member and friend to the stars. He is 100% kidding and Andrew knows it. No worries tho!
Aug 7, 08 23:45:48
i wanna would like to see you start at .25/.50 and move up that would be fun to watch
Aug 8, 08 01:36:16
Ok.....with soooo many people wanting to get into PLO now a days, a moving up series would be unbelievable for the customers and would definately get a lot of new subscriptions for this video series alone. I've only recently started taking poker seriously and am a 50NL/100NL atm but already am reading book about PLO as according to every one and their dog, "that's the way the poker is going." Would be a great series and I for one hope that it happens.
Aug 8, 08 17:14:56
I think the idea for a Moving up in PLO series is fantastic. Please do it.
