CARDRUNNERS
What's Your Edge
I'm just gonna write about some random shit.
My buddy Stu always posts youtube clips on our fantasy forum. He put up some good ones this week that pertain to the soon to be non existent Seattle Supersonics. They are all worth watching. They seem old as hell but they have the website on them. Who is this guy?
Wesley Snipes got 3 years in prison today. He apparently just stopped paying taxes in 1999. That's just ridiculous. I guess at the last minute he ponied up 5 million, but it was enough to save his ass from going to jail.
I went to a White Sox game the other night and just heckled the shit out a Yankees fan. I hate the Yankees. I have never heckled any fan at a game. It was a blast and I'm glad I could give shit to a fan of my least favorite team in all of sports. One way the fan opted to talk shit was by saying "I bet you go to community college. I go to U of Chicago!" I didn't respond to that except to call him a piece of shit yankees fan, etc.
I saw the Sarah Marshell movie last night. It was hilarious and just a good overall movie. I highly recommend it.
Were having a beer pong tournament tonight. Should be a lot of fun. I plan to win.
Every now and then Cardrunners members will ship us something with the hopes that we use it and pimp it out on the site. Most of it is kind of obscure. This week we actually got something pretty cool. Matt Lasher of Prop clothing sent in a bunch of his gear. I actually like some of it a lot and have been wearing it around. They also donate a portion of their proceeds to charity, so its a win-win. Check it out.
I haven't played poker since Steves beat the shit out of me. I'll get in some sessions this weekend.

Talking shit to a random person because of his liking of a sports team? You are the epitome of maturity.
Sadly, talking shit to some random person isn't something to brag about. Now you seem quite mature most of the time.. Perhaps you should put yourself in that dudes shoes, and rethink how you feel about the situation.. Granted, I have no clue whether he started this pissing contest, I'm assuming not. Perhaps I could be wrong.
Apr 25, 08 21:26:46
Next time you have a beer pong tourney, I will rule all of you. I live nearby so if you ever want to feel like you're not any good at throwing a little white ball let me know.
Apr 25, 08 22:00:47
if my four years of undergraduate education has prepared me for anything, it is beerpong.
i look forward to playing some bp with y'all in the office soon enough.
Apr 26, 08 02:35:49
perunjd.. I really don't get out to a lot of games. Is this seriously commonplace? If it's all in fun, cool... But if it begins to get out of hand that's crazy to me. I can't see how berating someone to that extent is fun? But if its good natured back and forth shit talking I see no problem with it. So, if I misunderstood the situation, i apologize.
Apr 26, 08 11:06:42
thanks for the shout.
I just set up a little cardrunners special in the shop - 20% off using discount code: cardrunners.
gg me.

Obviously, my last post wasn't the nicest post to stevesbets. But, cmon, it's stevesbets we're talking about! Anyway, karma decided to give me a nice kick in the ass last night when I had a rematch with steves. He crushed me. It wasn't quite as bad as the whopping I put on him, but it was damn close. It wasn't even an interesting match because we just constantly stacked on the flop with 60/40s. When you can't win the 60s or the 40s, you're screwed.
Somehow I hadn't put on my sad face. I should have.
Cole came into town for the weekend. It's always good seeing Cole. He also brought Larissa, his gf. I had never met her before. She was a very cool girl. We went out to dinner Saturday night. Cole had lost his ID the night before, so him and Larissa called it a early night. The next day we met up at my place to catch a cubs game. It was a beautiful day, but the cubs blew the shit out of the pirates so the game wasn't as good as it could have been.
Here are all of us before the game.
I currently rent the apartment I'm in and they are going to kick us out in 2 months because the owner decided he is going to sell it. The more I think about it, the more I think I'm just going to buy it. It's probably about time I get into some real estate. It's an exciting feeling knowing that I might own my own condo in a few months. I'll write more about that as I get more details.
Apr 23, 08 11:14:28
stevesbet took like 4k off me later in that night.
he seriously sucked out like 10 times....it was unreal. He won almost all races and then sucked out. security issue???? it was like he could see the next cards coming
lol
Apr 23, 08 11:27:58
too many cubs fans in that picture.
btw, im moving to your neighborhood in a month...magnolia and waveland.
Apr 23, 08 12:21:09
A+ blog. " The more I think about it, the more I think I'm just going to buy it." If that's not "balla", I don't know what is.
Apr 24, 08 08:08:21
If you are making the money I would guess from poker you should already own a place. Buy. Why piss your money away on rent. Mortgage interest is deductable. Send me a message if you need any real estate advice. Its my line of work.
Apr 24, 08 18:48:12
there is an "s" after steve in stevesbets b/c the bets that he places are his bets .... they are steve's bets, if you will.....
Apr 25, 08 18:34:54
wiggins, maybe get your gf a cubs jersey? lol shes the only one without it.
Taylor and I had a weight prop bet that just ended. About 2 months ago I was weighing in at 170lbs and he was pushing 200lbs. I wanted to put on at least 15lbs and he wanted to lose 15lbs. The idea was that if both of us got it done by our set date, neither would owe anything. We both made our goal last week. It felt good to reach my goal. I really want to get above 190 and I think I can do that by summer. I've just been eating a lot of smaller meals and working out on a regular basis. I really feel like I'm in great shape now. I'm going to incorporate some more cardio in. My goal is to be able to say that I'm in the best shape of my life come Vegas. Vegas will wear me down health wise, so I want a good buffer for that.
I've played two crazy HU sessions vs. stevesbets in the past few days. If you don't know stevesbets, hes a long time online player. He basically plays insanely loose and completely disregards position. It's really a pretty amazing style. I've never seen anyone play so loose OOP. I think he plays looser OOP than IP if that's possible... He played at 80/72/1.8 over 1500 hands we've played HU.
The game played fairly aggro/normal when we weren't deep stacked, but it got pretty insane when we were deep. He would 3 bet a lot. I started to 4bet him a good amount. I don't have a ton of experience 4 betting in PLO. The thing was that he would instantly call 100% of my 4 bets. I figured that even with marginal holdings, it MUST be +ev to get him to blindly shove more money in OOP.
Steves is also infamous for having a temper/tilting. I kept that in mind and did what I could to tilt him. That was part of the excessive 3bet/4bet style I was playing. I also used the Wiggins theorem and got it in in a few marginal spots with the hope of getting lucky and turning the tide of the match.
An interesting thing happened in the match last night. He was crushing me fairly good early on. I'd say he was up like 2k on me. My computer freaked out and froze for no particular reason. The computer is only a few months old, but it's never done this before last night. I got pretty worried because I didn't want steves to leave or for someone to steal my seat. It's a good feeling to know that Steves is sitting on two 2k stack at 2/4 HU PLO. I knew it was just a matter of time until the tide turned. The great thing about this short reboot break was it gave me 5 minutes to collect my thoughts. I realized I was getting a little tilted and probably not playing my A game. I cooled down and when I signed back on ftp steves was sitting there with two open tables and big stacks. Phew! No one took my seats! I sat back down and the momentum shifted immediately. I won a few nice sized pots right away and never looked back.
I'm going to post hands below. They won't be in any particular order, but I'll try to give some background/thoughts on them.
There was something about his timing on the river bet. I really thought he was on a spade draw that busted. I guess I wasn't too far off. I didn't make a ton of "huge calls" like this throughout the match. I think I was wrong more times than I was right when I did though. This time I was right. I'll see if I can find some of the bad calls too.
Thin value bet. I think I made the mistake of value betting too thin at times. There were a few hands where I bet very thinnly and he called with hands that barely beat me. The upside was that it made it hard for him to fold any decent hand. That allowed me to get paid off basically every time I had the nuts.
When hands like this come up, you know it's your day. I'm a pretty big favorite here, but there's no way he should be folding his hand. Poor luck for him.
This hand is bad. I think the turn is a pretty clear fold. I mean, what is he doing that with other than the nuts? At the same time, it's stevesbets! At least that's what I was thinking when I pushed. This hand was right before the comp crashed.
Another example of things not going my way precrash. What a monster flop! I hated to see him turn up AA. No spade either! ugh.
GLORIOUS turn. Not much to say here except that this is a pretty loose 4bet. I probably shouldn't be 4betting a garbage hand like that, but hey, it was double suited haha.
I really like my turn check here. I wasn't mixing it up all that much and I felt like if I checked I could make him think I had a club draw (which I did) and rope him in with a weak straight or trips.
Standard hand. Very unlucky river for him.
I was going to represent the straight on the river if it blanked out, which was probably a bad idea. It's not like he was folding a lot. Anyway, the river was perfect.
Apr 15, 08 15:40:51
Stevesbets lol. For some reason I laugh every time I see him playing. I def laughed at some of the chat.
Apr 15, 08 15:54:19
am I insane or is everyone of those pokerhand.org links to some random hand and not the one you're discussing? lol...I hope I am not wrong here. (peer)
I have a theory at 2/4 PLO. I say 2/4, because it doesn't work at the higher games. It only works against weaker players who have a high tendacy to tilt. In my experience, I've found that the play at 5/10 HU plo is much better than at 2/4. I'm really pretty surprised at the jump. It sucks for me, because my game matches up VERY well against the typical 2/4 player, but I tend to do quite poorly at 5/10. Back to the theory...
When my opponent has a big stack, I'm willing to take the worst of it in an all in pot for two reasons. First, I can severely outplay the standard 2/4 player in a deepstack HU scenario. I think my favorite form of poker is deepstacked HU PLO and I like to think I'm pretty good at it. The second and possibly more important reason is that I want to tilt my opponent. There is nothing like getting into a deepstacked situation where your opponent is tilted. You can make a lot really quickly in PLO when that is the case. When I'm playing against a guy who has a 2k stack to my 400, I want to do anything to get to 800. As soon as I'm at 800, I'm very close to being at 1600. If I double up to 1600 my opponent now has 800 and is pretty much fucked. There is no doubt they are on tilt at that point and I expect to get their entire stack + a few more buyins. So my theory is that it's +ev to take the worst of it at times when you are facing a deepstacked/weak opponent in HU PLO. Of course, I try to make it like as much as a flip as possible. People always think the beats they take in PLO are much worse than they really are.
Here is an example of a hand I played pretty poorly. I was just splashing trying to double up. I should note that I was only on for like $800, so it's not like I was crazy tilted, but I was probably at least a little bit off. This hand really tilted the guy.
Within about 30 minutes, hands like this were playing out. I'm not crazy about my preflop call there, but it's so hard to fold when you are so deep and playing a bad player, even if you are OOP. FYI: we were playing HA. The point is that he called with ace high! He did this on at least 3 occasions for pretty sizable pots.
In the end, I left with a $4400 stack. I guess my theory played out alright this time.
I got the Directv MLB superfan package. It's like the NFL sunday ticket. You can get every single MLB game and most of them in HD. It's really awesome. Directv is a must if you are a sports fans. These packages are just so damn good. I got to see Vlad hit a monster to deep center two nights ago against the Indians. Yesterday I was finally able to catch a few innings of a Tigers game. It was a relief to see Bonderman get out of a HUGE jam early in the game and then see some runs actually get scored. I'm a Tigers fan and they are the main reason I got the package. I just haven't had the chance to see them play much. Although, I can't say I'm too disappointed, because they have been terrible.
I also watched Michael Clayton last night. I really liked it. The ending is great. I recommend watching it.
Apr 10, 08 11:48:06
Drew, how can you handle watching your home team in baseball let alone other teams on the MLB superfan package? That is nuts.
Also, tilting people is not as easy as you make it seem. It ends up that I don't hit a few of those -ve flip situations.....and bam, before I know it, I end up on tilt. It's great when it works out but it can turn out bad too.
Apr 10, 08 13:44:31
our tigers just need to get healthy--i don't expect us to win many games with clete thomas/renteria leading off and no-name AA/AAA guys coming out of the pen.
Apr 10, 08 15:28:58
Yep the first half of Michael Clayton, I almost turned it off cuz it was boring as shit for me. But then the 2nd half of it got pretty good. I should probably watch it again IMO.
Apr 10, 08 17:38:09
Don't worry about the Tigers.. they are going to pwn sooner or later. The bats have just been cold but with the lineup they got no worries from this fan here even if Todd Jones loves to load the bases up everytime he gets out there.
I went to both of the Cubs games over the weekend. By definition, I'm not a cubs fan. The more games I go to though, the more I become somewhat of a fan. I'm not a fan at all of the "typical cubs fan" and I don't really want to ever be considered one of those. I do like rooting for them when I'm at wrigley though, so that probably makes me a fan in some capacity. Anyway, the reason for this minor rant is that I just wanted to comment that I think their team is defintiely more likeable this year than last. I really like their catcher, Soto. He is on my fantasy team as is DLee and Marmol. Fukudome is a very likeable guy. I love shouting his name at games. FUUUUUK AAAAA DOMMMM EEEEE!!! You also gotta enjoy seeing Kerry Wood closing. I've always like Kerry.
Both games this weekend were great. The weather was fantastic and we got to see close games that the Cubs managed to win. If you can get two 65 and sunny days in the beginning of April in Chicago, you gotta be pleased.
I haven't taken any pictures lately. I don't ever use my camera because I don't like it. The only pictures that have surfaced are ones of me and my girlfriend, Julia. I wanted to put up some pictures, so here are two with us in them. One is at the cubs game adn the other is from when we saw wicked. I really liked wicked by the way.
As far as poker, I'm doing well playing a ton of tables of NLHE. I'm getting killed at 5/10 and 10/20 plo. Too bad I love the rush of the bigger games. I think I'll be playing more of the many table NLHE games in the near future. Anyone out there ever seen The Harder They Come? It's a great movie and I recommend it if you haven't seen it. It's a cool story with some good music in it (although they play the same songs a few times throughout the movie). Below is the title track." alt="http://www.youtube.com/v/xGE4dnrPPZQ&hl=en">" title="http://www.youtube.com/v/xGE4dnrPPZQ&hl=en">">http://www.youtube.com/v/xGE4dnrPPZQ&hl=en">
I saw 21 last night. It was a mediocre movie and it really wasn't true to the book. It was probably still worth seeing though. There were some great Vegas scenes. Seeing the movie really got me itching to get out to Vegas. The characters in the movie approached Vegas almost exactly like we do. The only difference was they played high stakes BJ, so they got comped. Everything else was the same. Nice hotel rooms, lots of gambling, tables at clubs, strip clubs for the after part... ah, I love Vegas. Unfortunately, I won't be in Vegas for a few months. I'm already getting pumped up though.
I finally got my monitor working. It wasn't cheap though. I went out and bought a new graphics card. I believe it is the Geoforce 8800 or something like that. It was basically the best card they had. It also forced me to get a new power supply for my desktop, which I wasn't too happy about. I would have almost been better off just buying a new computer really. For some reason I can only get my secondary monitor to show up at 1280x800 res when it should be 1680x1050. I'm not too concerned about that right now, because I'm only using it for PT.
I've been 16 tabling which has been interesting. I'm mostly doing it out of curiosity. I want to know if it's possible to win playing so many tables. I've never really played more than 8 or so. Having a massive monitor like tihs makes it a ton easier though. You just need to make your decisions instantly, which isn't incredibly hard at 2/4nl because most things are super standard. IMO, I've ran pretty poorly so far. I put one wicked beat on someone with AKs vs AA allin pre, but other than that I've ran quite awful in allin pots. I personally think I can win at a rate around .5bb/100. I don't know though. Below are my PT stats so far. I included the rake, because that is pretty important part of this scenario. I should note that this is less than 4 hours of play. I believe I'm averaging like 1200 hands/hr. Pretty ridiculous really.
Apr 4, 08 20:00:04
i don't know much about computers but i think you can only get get the max resolution on your second monitor because your computer has an analog and a digital plug for your monitors. the analog one can't run the really high resolutions i think.
Apr 5, 08 05:03:50
ha ha. 16 tabling and still has chat open. Balla and just what the cr videos tell you to do :). Love it...
Apr 7, 08 10:42:04
Primary monitor is 30" Samsung Syncmaster 305T. The secondary Monitor is a 22" Samsung Synchmaster 226bw
Apr 7, 08 11:25:26
I've got a 32" LCD, but when i hook my computer up the screen only lets me have like 4 tables fully visible, how do you change it so you can see so many tables?
Apr 10, 08 22:10:15
I just went to Best Buy tonight to buy a new setup and I avoided the having the same problems you are having with your resolution, because the geeksquad guys were on the ball. I wanted to run 2 28" monitors and the computer I was looking at had a the same video card in it that you just bought...8800 geforce with two DVI (I believe thats what they are called) outputs. However, that video card needs BOTH DVI outputs for one monitor to run it at max resolution. The fix was that I had to buy a SECOND video card so that I could use two DVI outputs for each monitor so that they could both be run at their "native resolutions". I don't know if your mother board will support the second video card or not, because one of the computers I was looking at didn't. Good Luck.
I've always made the claim that I love the midwest and will always live here. I have said many times that I enjoy the 4 seasons. My belief in that was really tested this winter. It was a brutal winter. There was record amounts of snow and it was incredibly cold. Also, keep in mind that I spent the last 4 winters about 3 hours south of here. 3 hours might not sound like a lot, but I can assure you that it makes a noticeable difference. About a month ago I really found myself questioning my attitude about loving the midwest, always wanting to live here, etc. Well, it's finally starting to warm up and I remember why I love the 4 seasons so much. I think when you live somewhere warm, you come to expect warm days and just take them for granted. Right now, I'm so happy to catch a 50 degree day that it puts me in a good mood all day long. Wearing shorts outside for the first time in months puts a smile on my face. I love it. Throw in baseball season starting and you got one happy guy out of me.
I'm writing this on my new 30" Samsung monitor courtesy of a poker site that I don't represent and therefore won't mention. It's a badass monitor. A complete beast. Unfortunately, I have come to discover that my video card is not good enough to support the 2560 x 1600. I'm a bit surprised, because I've been running dual 1600 x 1200 on here. Anyway, I'm going to stop at best buy on the way home to get a new card. My plan is to run dual 1680 x 1050 (22") and this 30". I've always run duals that are the same monitor, so I'm interested to see how I like that setup. I think eventually I might consider getting dual 30s. I love having all the space I can get.
Right now I'm running this on 1280 x 800. Everything is HUGE. I'm getting pretty pissed off at myself on the side of this screen. Every 3 seconds I gotta see me staring back at me (curious if I use me or myself there, me sure doesn't sound right, but I'm going with it) with a shitfaced grin on my face.
We had our baseball draft over the weekend. It was the first time I had ever done a live draft and I gotta say I love it. We have basically the same group of kids that play fantasy all year long (football, basketball, baseball). I gotta imagine that we will always do live drafts going forward. I do think it's harder to do a live draft. Let's just say I may been under the influence a bit and made at least one major error and a few minor ones. The biggest mistake was I drafted two 2bs and no shortstop. I ended up with Julio Lugo as my starting SS. That's bad. I passed on Furcal pretty late because I just wasn't paying attention. My roommate was paying attention and grabbed Furcal so that he could trade him to me (he already had Jeter). I expect we will debate this trade for many weeks. It should be fun... I'm gonna post my team here for those of you that are interested in Fantasy:
C Soto
1B D. Lee
2B Utley
3B C. Jones
SS J. Lugo
OF V. Guerrero
OF J. Hamilton
OF M. Ordonez
Util Markakis/Kinsler
SS (bench) K. Greene
SP J. Verlander
SP D. Lowe
SP J. Shields
SP B. Myers
SP I. Snell
SP M. Buehrle
RP J. Nathan
RP T. Hoffman
RP T. Percival
RP C. Marmol
I'm mostly concerned about my pitching. I have a ton of mediocre pitchers and no studs outside of Verlander. I'm pretty much banking on Verlander having a Cy Young caliber season. It's definitely possible.
I think my offense is pretty good. I'm more of an offensive guy anyway. I'm just going to have to hope for some lucky pickups. It's a long season.
I'd recommend checking out today's video. It's by a new guest pro, Staceysmom001. He has always been one of the best players on UB and I think the video is really solid. The rating is a bit low right now, but it's only because 1 or 2 people gave it a really low score and not that many people posted reviews.
Apr 2, 08 19:14:44
screen size doesn't matter. you could power dual 30s at 1600x1200 on your card. its all about resolution.
Apr 2, 08 21:01:49
You don't say "me" you say "my face" as in "my face staring back at me" :)
Also as far as videocards go, for a guy like you, just go all out and get the newest Nvidia Geforce card (preferably BFG version of the card). They'll run anything. My 8800s run 2500x1600 resolution.
Apr 3, 08 02:56:58
start Greene at SS and depending on how many people are in the league I think your pitching is pretty good. Shields, Myers, Lowe are all pretty solid.
Apr 3, 08 10:23:36
Did you ever think there would be a day where you had to hold back saying something because you don't represent it? Pokerstars monitors ftw?
I got back from Hawaii fine. We left at like 8pm which worked out well. I was pretty exhausted from the trip and the surfing that day in particular so I was able to sleep the entire 9 or so hours home. I even got in a +$1500 session during my 1.5 hour layover in LA. It's nice to be back in Chicago, especially now that the weather is really improving here. It has been mid 50s the last two days which is great. I love it when it starts to get warm here. Baseball season is starting next week too. It's a good time of the year!
I was still a bit jet lagged on Sunday, so I decided to spend the day on my couch catching up on TV. I also had rented Braveheart from Netflix and I wanted to watch that and return it. Believe it or not, I had never seen that movie all the way through. I had seen bits and pieces on TV over the years, but that doesn't do the movie any justice. I'm pretty angry at myself for waiting so long to sit down and watch it. What a sick movie. It's easily in the top 5 movies I've ever seen. I really loved it. I also had a bunch of episodes of Lost and John Adams (new HBO miniseries) to catch up on. I think Lost has really gone down the tubes and I'm strongly considering quitting it. I'll see how it is for a few more episodes... John Adams is a great show. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet. If you couldn't guess, it's about John Adams life. I've always been one who likes history, so it's great to see a well done HBO series on someone as important to our nation's history as John Adams. I'll admit that it can get a little slow at times, but the historical significance of the show makes up for that.
I've been reading some more blogs on Cardrunners lately and I also noticed a few new ones from some of my friends.
Gordo16: I think his blog is great. I enjoy reading about PLO hands and the swings involved and there is plenty of that here. He also reminds me of myself from a year or two ago when I was still in school. It's always interesting trying to balance being in college with doing really well in poker.
Link: http://www.cardrunners.com/members/index.php?optio...
Empiremaker2: Blake just started this blog. I've always thought he is a really funny guy and his first post lives up to that. I expect this blog to be very entertaining as long as he updates it. I doubt there will be any poker content, but I actually like that. Don't read this if you are offended by people who aren't PC.
Link: http://www.cardrunners.com/members/index.php?optio... LatestLines2: Another very funny guy. Joe is easily one of the best people I have met through poker. He loves sports and gambling. I assume he'll talk about that stuff a lot and not much poker. Link: http://www.cardrunners.com/members/index.php?optio... _johnnydrama_: He's another one of my good friends that I've met through poker. This guy has insane swings in poker and makes some huge purchases. Link: http://www.cardrunners.com/members/index.php?optio... Caroline: It's the only girl blog I read. Solid blog so far, but it's not updated enough. We're making her update it more though... Link: http://www.cardrunners.com/members/index.php?optio... Something it messed up with this formatting and it's pisisng me off. We're working on cleaning up these blogs though, so look to see some nice improvements in the future...
I played a long session of PLO last night. There isn't a ton to do here at night since I'm with my family, so after dinner I've mostly just been grinding. I mentioned in my last post that I was going to move down and work on 2/4. The thing is, I pretty much just crush 2/4 PLO. I'm not sure why I struggle so much at the higher games, but maybe my game is just suited best against weaker players. The nice part about 2/4 is that it's no stress and very good money can still be made.
I did notice something interesting yesterday when I was playing. I was crushing some guys that just didn't have a chance. I was playing very aggressively and in complete control of the match. I don't think I was ever in the spot at the higher games where I didn't have a chance, but I wasn't always in control of the matches. I think control is extremely important in all forms of poker, but especially PLO. PLO is an incredibly swingy game where a lot of emotions and game flow come into play. Since your opponent can represent so many hands in PLO, you need to have a good read on him to do well HU. It's hard to do that properly if he is in complete control. I think that at the higher games it's a mix of just having more money at stake and playing against better opponent. Regardless, the last two sessions at 2/4 have convinced me there is no reason to play higher.
By the way, I've sustained 20bb/100 at HU for a fairly significant sample size (25k hands) at 2/4. Maybe it won't stay quite that high, but 15+ is very doable IMO. My 6max game is what I've been working on. I'm definitely plugging leaks lately. I think one of my biggest issues is not laying down hands enough. It can be very hard to fold a 2nd nut hand, but you're gonna run into the nuts so often in PLO.
I should also note that my VPIP is too high for HU. It was because of an opponent I was playing on 2 tables for a lot of hands who was pretty bad. We were deep at times and I was just looking to play as many pots as possible.
Hawaii is still great. I went surfing again yesterday. It was definitely harder on my own. I didn't have someone to help me spot good waves, push me off and just help me with my form. I think I was sitting too far up on my board early on when I was surfing on my own. I started to get it down again by the end though. Surfing really takes it out of you. You have to paddle a ton and it just takes a lot of your body strength to do everything. I'm fairly sore today. I want to get out and suft again tomorrow before I head home.
Here is a pic from scuba diving the other day with me and my brother in it.
I love this place. I'm definitely coming back next winter if I can find some people to come with me.

You can't post these results and not do a 1/2 or 2/4 hu video. For the love of god Muddy it's time.
Hawaii is ridiculous. I really love this place. The weather has been great and the atmosphere of the island is awesome. There is a ton of fun stuff to do here too. So far, I have been golfing on a sick course, went on a helicopter ride, surfing and scuba diving. On top of that, I've had some quality time relaxing on the beach.
It's been great to just sit back and relax. Between playing higher stakes poker and just the whole thing around the FTP deal, I've been fairly stressed out. There is really nothing like killing time on a beach. It's one of my favorite things to do. One of the awesome things about the beaches in Hawaii is that there are islands off in the distance that have mountains. I think it makes the view that much better. I've never been to a place with views quite like Hawaii.
The helicopter ride we went on was really cool. There were some fantastic waterfalls that we got to see. Here is one of the shots I took with my phone.
The golf course we played was easily in my top 3 courses I've ever played. It had just absolutely stunning views and the layout was great too. It was the Kapalua Plantation course which is where they play the Mercedes PGA event every January. We got some great pictures there, but they are on my Mom's camera and she didn't bring her USB cord. I did get this one pic on my phone.
The surfing has been my favorite activity so far. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I'll have to admit, the waves we were on weren't exactly huge. I got some cool pictures from that.
It started off a little shaky...
I got the hang of it pretty quickly though.
I like this sequence where I took a girl out. It wasn't intentional, but I also had no desire to go down. It was her or me. I won.
I'm playing golf again tomorrow and I'll probably go surfing again as well. I'm hoping to hit some bigger waves this time around.
As far as poker goes, I've gotten absolutely killed the last two days. It's stressful as hell. I haven't ran well and I've gotten awfully tilty at times. There is no doubt that PLO taxes your emotions more than NLHE and I was never that great about keepign my emotions out of my NLHE game. I'm probably not completely ready for the higher games. I guess it's back to 2/4. The great thing about 2/4 is that it doesn't stress me out, I don't have big downswings and it's just solid money. The downside is it's pretty boring/doesn't get me excited and not glamorous at all. I think I'll just grind that for awhile though. I really don't care about the glamorous part, but I do get the itch to play higher. One good solution I've thought about is using one of my computers I don't use to just datamine the games all the time and then only play higher when the games are great. I might end up doing that.

The look on your face in the first pic of that sequence is pretty good.
An "Im about to do something, heh heh." look.

awesome, I used to play on that course all tie time in Tiger Woods PGA tour 2004 or 2005 for PS2 I think it was. If you've never played that game, you should play the course on that game when you get back home. I've always wanted to do that with a Tiger Woods game course.

NOT INTENTIONAL, that grin on your face in the 3rd last photo says otherwise. TOOK HER OUT!

A few things to do in Maui. You have to go to CheeseBurger in Paradise in Lahaina. They have great burgers and mixed drinks. The service can be poor @ times, but the view is great. If you want a nicer meal hitup either I'Os or Pacific'Os in Lahaina. They are on the ocean and serve up great food.
Enoy. I love Maui.
