What's Your Edge

Made like $8k in poker related business stuff, giving me over $40k of profit for the month. Will try to keep it up. <3

We still need to play HU sometime imo. Maybe the drunk or not so drunk nutedawg can give me a real challenge.
Mar 2, 10 11:36:42
Hey nutedawg,
how many tables are you playing in your personal sessions?
Thanks for an answer.
Mar 5, 10 01:06:33
Joggeli:
Usually, I play from 6-9, but there are times where I'm playing fewer
Mar 7, 10 16:13:46
I agree with Pawel. It's definitely the office. Renewed sense of pwnship, imo. Good luck, dude.
Feb 5, 10 06:32:09
actually, in term of BB you run above expectation.
so you run good. doesn't apply here.
Is that just one day?
Feb 5, 10 10:43:05
Danny - one day? lol. this is about three weeks
Pawel - This does not include rush poker or the about 10 hrs of time I've spent in SNG land. Also doesn't include the videos I've made or the coaching I've done (ie, I'm putting in time doing other pokery things). Finally, I should point out I didn't start my year until Jan 15.
Feb 5, 10 13:17:22
Nute, u are a sick man.
I want to stop by your office and pet your dog for some run-good? I asked Alvin earlier this week, he said it's ok.
Feb 5, 10 13:25:55
woord me too. il bet the dog. and bring my dog so your dog can give my dog some puppies. where is this office located in again?
Feb 5, 10 14:13:52
I'm pretty sure this is NOT running at expectation! Either that or ure demi-god half-breed of isildur and boywonder!!
Feb 5, 10 18:17:24
Alex does not want to pet your dog. He wants to eat it. Conversely, I want to cuddle with Rover. Alone.
Feb 7, 10 03:14:08
Jimmy,
good point; I agree. 8496 is only 2124x more than 4. but word. I run hot.
Feb 28, 10 00:01:10
I think i might go play 5/6 or maybe even 7 hands myself now and i will post the results on here and if it was + or - ev. lol
So far things are going swimmingly at the poker office. I've been going in everyday except Friday and Saturday. Two of my good real world friends have been coming in daily to grind SNGs after work, and Alvin (citizenwind) has visited a bunch too. I have not been immune to the occasional slacking off, but overall I'm being much more productive in the office. I have yet to put in serious volume, but I've done a lot of "poker related" work (watching videos, making videos, coaching existing students). Alvin and I made a two part $200NL deep w/ antes that I have yet to watch but I hope is helpful and well received.
Last week I was interviewed for the inaugural episode of the Cardrunners strategy podcast, which I believe is coming out in about a week or so. Nick Wealthall from the podcast On the Rail is the host, and from what I can tell he is going to do an awesome job. We discussed preflop topics, which might seem boring to a lot of players, but I think it's definitely worth examining in depth. I think most of the stuff we discussed can be really helpful to tons of low and midstakes players.
As for poker, I haven't fully gotten into the swing of playing just yet, but I'm not sweating it. With the current configuration of my professional life (lol), I am really confident that I will do just fine this year.
In September of 2009 I had the biggest bankroll of my lifetime and made the decision to cash most of it out. For various reasons in my personal life, I knew I wouldn't be putting in near the amount of volume to justify having six figures online. I came into 2010 with only about $23k online, and rather than redepositing I decided I would take a hack at the midstakes (2/4 - 3/6) games and see if I could just run it up. I have done a lot of coaching at these limits but never actually put in more than a few thousand hands there (probably 90% of my lifetime cash hands are at 5/10-10/20). Well...either 2/4 and 3/6 are incredibly easy (very unlikely) or I am running like god (obviously). I also played about 30 seconds of Rush poker when it first came out, which is why I have about 800 hands of .50/1. It's funny to say 3300 hands is a "results post" since that is basically one session for a lot of people. But like I said...I've been busy and I didn't play really any poker until the 16th I think.
Results:

My biggest leak in poker, by far, has always been lack of volume. For a long time I've been basically OK with my winrate, the stakes I play, and my game in general. I have a really hard time forcing myself to put in volume, though. I've set hand goals and made prop bets to try to get around this, but I have yet to make anything work for me. Until now, hopefully.

Jan 17, 10 11:36:25
Sweet break/conference room. Did they throw the bananas in with the office?

Good stuff for sure. Make sure to get better lighting. All that Florescent will tilt your ass some day.

that dogs so cute i might consider putting peanut butter on my dick and letting it lick it off
I technically lost the bet to about 5 people who each put up $20 to my $1, so those ppl go ahead and post your Stars ID and I will hook up that dolla dolla bill. Thanks to everyone for your support and interest in the bet. The blog will continue but will no longer contain super exciting 5BB flips; sorry! Real poker, I am returning to you!

them pussies. i clearly was waiting for your sanity to break there coming down the home stretch.
Sep 5, 09 16:49:14
So no more SNE? You're missing out on a ton of extra side benefits imo :( Also keep the \$1, I just wanted to be a part of history :D
Sep 5, 09 17:11:41
not getting the SNE benefits was factored into the buy out, believe me. back to champaign power hour
Sep 5, 09 18:27:11
I think you should grind 12/180's for like a month and see what ROI you have :o)
Or play 50 NL for 10k hands see what type of win rate you haves
Sep 6, 09 04:54:02
And with that I mean weekly drunken HU, on saturday, so we have something awesome to watch both saturday and sunday(CTZ).
Well, looking at my results from my current desktop database, I think it's pretty clear I should forgo cash games in favor of SNGs in the future. As a friend told me, cash is too predictable and boring. With SNGs you just never know what can happen....
(lol looks like I should edit...I am kidding about quitting cash games)
Enjoy

Your top sample size is 5000 and your bottom is 200K, thus, think of it as standard variance is graph one. I's genius.
Sep 3, 09 21:36:34
Verneer, isn't it 5000 sng's which if he averages 50 hands per sng would make 250,000 hands of comparison to his cash results?
All right, 2 months in the books, 4 to go on my SNE prop bet. Here is how the SNGs went this month (ugh, scroll down, this blog formatting is owning me):
***********
I've fallen a little bit behind pace b/c of weddings, family stuff, and other miscellany. I am not too worried though, especially since the games will be registering like crazy later in the year as all the regs race for SNE.
As for the SNGs, I dunno. I am sure I am not a great SNG player. I don't really have time to review my play, and I'm constantly trying to add as many tables as possible to generate for rake for the bet. I guess I will try to play as high as I can and as many tables as I can while still not losing. Generating $1200 of rake 6 days a week is pretty rough, so as long as I'm not losing money, I don't really give a shit :-) Doesn't hurt to make over $10k a month in rakeback either.
If I could just 12-16 table $235 6max SNGs it would be a breeze but the registration in the higher stakes SNGs is really spotty. What ends up happening is I am playing five to eight different types of SNGs (9max, 6max, steps, sattelites, etc), and it's really hard to keep up w/ the different payout structures and what what the hell is going on. By hour 8 on your 10th consecutive day of 15 tabling, it can really be a mindfuck. But I am not complaining. Hopefully I win this bet, though. ha.

And the VPPs:

Here are the links if the pics dont work for you (forgot to screenshot my VPPs before Sept. started, sorry):

Hey Nute, any idea why the rss feed doesn't work for your blog???
Sep 1, 09 15:46:58
getting 2/3 of the way there and quitting would be really dumb considering how back wighted all the bonuses are not to mention the money from the bet
