Good news... finally made it through my first flight and half way to Vegas. Things went smooth at BWI Airport although my flight sucked. It was very tiny with no standing room or room period. It was small and kinda shaky. Oh well, ya win some ya loose some. I'm in O'Hare's Airport in Chicago right now with a 3 hour layover. When I first arrived I didn't even see the flight listed on the screen. I guess it's so far in advance. I'm just hoping that my next plane is bigger/better as it'll be the longer plane ride of the two. I had to break down and buy the internet service here at the Airport for $7 a day since there was no free WiFi :(. I need internet access anyways to do some CR work since I doubt I'll have internet access there and I'll probably be somewhat tired upon arrive (apporx 11-12 vegas time, 3am my time). I'm about to go find a bite to eat for now and then I'll be waiting around to catch my flight. Here are too boring pictures I took of the airport so far where I'm typing from before my batteries died.

I am so close to Vegas... I am starting to get anxious and excited, but still have two days to wait. On Wednesday I will be heading out of town at 6:15am to make a near three hour drive to the airport in Sioux Falls. The drive is worth it to get a direct flight that is relatively cheap too (<$300). In anticipation of the trip I have been going to bed 2-3 hours earlier than normal so I can get nice and rested for five days of torture to my body. I am more than ready for my first trip.....now I all I need is for it to be Wednesday.

This past weekend was mostly uneventful. I hung out with the family and went to a BBQ at a friend's house. While there I degened it up a bit with Wii Bowling to the tune of a $10 loss. I was/am heartbroken. On Friday I went golfing with a buddy. If you are a regular reader, you should already know that I suck. I only took the sport up last summer, and it shows. On the first tee I hit my first two shots out of bounds.

Yeah, I know...

It was ok though since I recovered and only took a ten. The second hole I forgot how to hit the ball completely. I put another out of bounds then wasted five or six strokes around the green. At this point I tilted badly and three my sand wedge rather hard. Unfortunately it hit the fucking golf cart and got bent up pretty bad. To finish it off I neatly folded it over my knee. The end result? It is in three pieces and I had to buy a new one. The next two holes were also brutal. I finally figured out I was setting up to close to the ball and opening my front shoulder as I made contact (freaking baseball swing). After putting up a 43 in the first four holes, I shot 29 on the last five. While still not impressive, that averages out to a 54 which is very good for me. I still had some ugly shots but was able to bogey a 185 yard par three and par a 150 yarder. I need to work on my tee-shots (I don't carry a driver, but still slice the shit out of my fairway woods for some unknown reason) and my chips around the green. Of course, doesn't everybody?

This will prolly be my last update before Vegas. I will try and make one when I arrive and then the next day after the CR Party and meeting with Lee, Trev, and Rodeo.

Catch you all soon.

-Jeff

Just flew into vegas. Experienced one of the worse beats i've taken in a while.

until I can move into the house im staying this summer, I booked a room in the palace station hotel. It's this little bomb about a mile off the strip. Anyway, they run some shuttles to and from the airport and the strip. The shuttles leave from the airport every hour on the half hour.

So my flight lands at 2:55 vegas time and things are looking good that i will be able to make the 3:30 shuttle. I get off the plane, get a quick bite to eat, then go to the baggage claim. The following suckout transpires:

i didnt get my luggage until 335 and missed the shuttle. So instead of riding a free shuttle I had to go to my LEAST favorite place in the world. The vegas airport taxi line.

for those of you who have been to the vegas airport, you know how awful the taxi line is. It's a 1/4-1/2 mile long line that takes forever to get through

Look at how long this thing is, it winds back and forth about 100-150 yards each way, and there are 4-5 rows:

half hour later, wanting to kill myself, i finally got in a taxi and came over to the palace station.

DIE VEGAS TAXI LINE DIE.

I'm sitting on my ass in the Chicago airport...still. I thought I gave myself plenty of time going to the Winnipeg airport this morning. But after hitting massive traffic on the way there (that damn contruction on route 90 for you Winnipeggers). But, I still walked in the airport 45 minutes before departure, just to stand in line in check-in for 10 minutes to realize my flight has closed and has now been filled. So, I go through security and all that jazz, get to the terminal 5 minutes before departure just to watch my flight leave the terminal. The flight I switched to was 2.5 hours later.

So, I get to Chicago almost 3 hours later than I was supposed to just to see the original transfer I was supposed to take still hadn't left. But of course, it was full and I had to wait for the later one I was booked on. Now, it had been delayed 2 more hours!!!! Geezus!

I paid the $7 fee to Internet in the airport and am currently up about $1k on Full Tilt (even after being super coolered for 2 buy-ins at $5/$10 NL). So, not all is lost. But, my laptop is about to die and my power cord is in my checked suitcase.

So, the plan is to pick up my Infinity late tonight around midnight. I'm actually taxiing to the lady I bought it from who is at a birthday party. She lives close and will bring me to the car, then I'll drive until I'm too tired and crash at the closest stop. I won't be able to make the Canterbury tourney I wanted to play tomorrow unfortunately.

Made almost another $1k while writing this entry, so that's sweet. Good start to online on this little trip. I'll update again when I hit Shakopee, MN. I can't wait to get my car!!!

Last hand before laptop dies: http://www.pokerhand.org/?1606586. Nice! Made just under $3k in Chicago airport.

I've been traveling SO MUCH in the past 2 weeks that I'm glad to finally settle down!  Since I got back from China, I had to drive straight from Maryland to Durham to get my things in order for the move to San Francisco.  While there, I was fortunate enough to have my best friend from college drive down from Pittsburgh (he goes to grad school at Carnegie Mellon).  With my other 3 really close friends from college who are still in Durham, we had a really nice week hanging out grilling, eating Dim Sum, and playing Guitar Hero ;p.

After the week, I booked a flight on Sunday from Durham to San Francisco, and the cheapest flight I could find was form Airtran.   Well, being the lifenit that I am I took the bait, and on Monday I went to the airport only to be told that my flight was delayed 4 hours because of a hurricane in Atlanta, so I would miss my connection.  The next flight would be Tuesday morning at 6am.  No problem!  So after staying up all night, I got to the airport at 5:40 only to be told that I couldn't check in bags!  "No problem," I said to myself, I'll just hop on the NEXT flight.  Upon inquiring about my options, I was told "Our next available flight is at 9:45 you should arrive in San Francisco at 9:30."  So apparently, the hurricane in Atlanta was sooooo bad that there were only 2 flights that day from Atlanta to San Francisco, and not only did I have to wait 3 more hours in Raleigh-Durham Airport, I'd also have to wait an additional 6 hours in Atlanta.  Needless to say that day was a very very long day, but I've been settled here for 2 days so far and its going well.  The city is very hilly and has a ton of narrow roads which I don't like, but its very culturally rich which I love.  It should be fun living here :).

In poker, I've been doing pretty well.  I made quite a bit playing $25/50 NLHE and PLO, and lately some $100/200, $200/400.  I dropped $100k playing $100/200 HU at the airport, but I've since made most of it back playing $200/400 while running well and playing well.  Here are some hands:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/510589--getting set up by Benyamine but generally outplaying him

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/512595--slowplaying PF and on the flop and getting paid off

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/513724--making a good read

I plan I grinding a ton while I am here in San Francisco before I go to London, which will be in mid September.  Look for more news about poker and less news about traveling for the next month :).

Eric Liu, I am amazed how man yhours you put into poker. You have probably the most work ethic out of anyone I've paid attention to.

In short, you're a hero for your poker skills, but in my eyes a legend because of your work ethic.

thats all
