I have decided to start a new blog. I currently just moved up from  25NL to 50NL  and am predominantly a cash game player looking to increase my bankroll and climb the ranks to be at least bankrolled in 200NL or 1/2NL by the end of 2008. With this type of bankroll I will be able to revert back and forth from live to internet play and be bankrolled at all times. I am starting this blog in order to help teach myself as well as take in any advice that those who read my blog might have for me. I will be posting after most sessions and keeping everyone up to date with how my bankroll progress is going. I'd also like to discuss my sessions and key hands after each session in order to take advice from others on these hands. If at anytime anyone has comments on how i play a hand that i have posted i would really appreciate any advice. In the future if anyone feels they can help my game in anyway please leave me a comment here or a private message at cr. I will also try and put an entertaining post in the blog every now and then about how life is going as a low limit cash game player hoping to make it big some day.

Starting Bankroll: $1650.00

Just finished up a session and since I can't play tomorrow, I'm done playing for the month.  Overall it was a good month.  I don't think I ran all that well though.  I had a pretty big downswing in the middle of the month but I ended the month well. I also had to cash out ~70% of my bankroll this month to pay for some items so that hurt a bit pokerwise.  With the deminished bankroll I moved back to 25nl (20nl on Prima) and hopefully will be back to 50nl soon. Heres the months stats:

I'm still at 100nl.I can't believe i stuck to my guns and still playing this level for the month.Usually I just give in and move up ,then proceed to move back down 2 weeks later.I think It will benefit me in the long run to move up with a strong bankroll.I think a 11.5 to 12k bankroll will give me a great peice of mind when I move up to 200nl next month and hopefully stay there until my next move.Since my last post I think I have dropped like 3 or 4 buyins.Have'nt really played much, and decided to take it easy.I don't really want to run into a long stretch of bad cards and finish the month off on a bad note before moving up.Gonna go visit with the family tomorrow for easter. After that,I will probably grind out some hands later in the evening.

HAPPY EASTER

Gl at the tables,

-Chris

I've been running insanely hot this week, but i feel like im playing very well. Despite that, i can still feel room for improvement. im very motivated to try to move into bigger games, but im a huge bankroll nit and will probably wait till i have 40 buyins (online bankroll) for any level before moving up. So i'll continue grinding 3/6 -10/20 for a while until my online bankroll is back up to 200k ish and then move back into 25/50.

Wcoop starts tomorrow and im pretty excited to give tourneys another go. i came close in 3 events last year but couldnt close out anything better than a ft 2 table finish. hopefully i can pull down a big score this year.

anyway. ill come up with some good mspaints next week when im in ac.

I am playing poker for almost 3 years, but I never had very strict bankroll rules. I was taking a lot of shots and basicly playing around.

Now I am trying the grinder aproach. My goal is to play a lot of tables for a long time consistently.

I also invented my personal bankroll goals, to keep me away from the higher limit tables.

Limit    Step up    Step down

0.5/1   4000

1/2     10000          3000

2/4     18000          7000

3/6     40000        12000

I will play indefinetly 100NL,  if I have to. But right now my Bankroll is around 5K  and I switched my game to 1-2.

Now to yesterdays play. I was tired all day long and made only 1K hands. I got a couple of bad set ups like AA vs KK twice, but was down only half a buyin.

December 29, 2007

2007 was a year of growth and prosperity for my poker game.  At the beginning of the year I had $0 online.  Poker was on the back burner for a bit, but quickly regained its importance as my roommates and I began playing on a team bankroll.  Things did not go well for us with this approach and we found ourselves stuck a decent amount of money and eventually quit.  I had managed to win a bit of money when we were in Vegas in May and decided to really give playing poker online my full effort and take it seriously.  (I would like to clarify that there was no cheating involved when we were working on the bankroll)

After watching many Cardrunners videos and reading up on bankroll management I decided it was time to take the plunge.  I put $1300 online between Full Tilt and PokerStars, and started playing 6 tables of $.25-$.50 NL.  After 2 months I had won a little over 40 buy-ins as well as a few nice tournament scores and decided to move up to $.5-$1 NL.

In October, my third month of playing full time, ring games took a back seat to tourneys, as I rode my rush to a +$20K month, while still winning $1K in ring games.  This month was huge for me and has helped me grow my bankroll to a higher amount than ever before.  I was smart, and did not move up in levels right away, but continued to remain at $.5-$1 until I put in enough hands.

In mid-December I went on another Vegas trip with some friends for a week of fun and poker.  It turned out to be the worst week of poker in my life, as I lost over 2K as well as an additional few hundred lost by a friend who I was backing.  I learned a lesson and probably will not be backing anyone for a while.

Overall, this has been an incredible year for me, and I only hope that my success continues into 2008.

Good luck in the New Year,

JWeb

February 13, 2008

So after I put in that amazing 17k session yesterday, I have now lost 11k of it back. This is really frustrating to me because honestly I am not playing that bad. I will admit that my game is not 100% right now but I do feel like I am playing winning poker. I really need to work on my tilt factor, I am letting way to many people get under my skin. Its just really sickening how people are running and the coolers I am taking but that is the game of poker and I need to accept that and move on!

On another note, a lot of people have been asking me about how I handle my bankroll so I decided to write a little bit how I have handled mine. For as long as I can remember I have been really tight when it comes to my bankroll management. I believe in playing levels where you have 50 times over the buy in. An example of this would be needing a 50k bankroll to play 5-10 NL. Now, I have made "runs" where I have played higher when my bankroll wasn't 50 times the buy in but I find it necessary for you to be comfortable with your stakes that  you should have 50 times your buy in. I hope that makes sense. I would love to go into this topic more and will later but I am EXHAUSTED. Good Day Gentlemen
