today i am going to play the 1500 6 max event. frankly i'm not sure how it is going to go but i am going to give it my best shot. i hate tournaments and i've never had a ton of success in them but i would like to do well to get publicity for CR. I'm going to keep this in mind when i have the urge to lose focus and just donk around. it's really tough to play an event that is 1/3 to 1/10th ish of your typical buyin, especially when you have one table at a time instead of 4-6.
afterwords, if i bust today, i'm going to try to go to the avril show which is somewhere in vegas (i forget where, maybe caesars i really dont remmeber) but i'm hoping i wont bust in time.
melissa comes tomorrow evening for the weekend.

-James Honeybone is at 15.5k, having a massage from a masseuse he had his eye on seems to have lifted his spirits and stack.
-FieryJustice is at 45k and said he's run pretty hot so far.
-Matt Dean appears to have bust.
-Mrbighit has also made a comeback of sorts from below 5k to 11.5k now.
On a site note, I just won a daily tournament here in Vegas. I'm not big on these types of things but media wanted a photo. Here was my exit photo...
Andy seems to think that I always run hot with pocket bitches. I'm not sure how much money it is I won. I'll have to count it when it's not all spread out over the table, but probably a few hundred or so. For now I'm taking my new winnings and heading over to Bobby's room to take a shot ...
that is all.
CENSORED FOR KATHY DAUT
my buddy brian drew a picture today to sum up the situation:
Had our first PIF session in two weeks tonight. It feels like it'd been forever since we met (2 weeks) because we've gone twice a week every week since May. We weren't really sure who was up tonight so Brian let me play. Had a good session winning $197 running at 12.50/100 PTBB at $100NL. Brian plugged a few leaks like PF raising marginal hands against short stacks. Something that isn't huge but definitely need to work on to get the game optimal. Here's my favorite hand from the session:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1549150
Standard PF raise in the cut with A3ss. When he leads for almost full pot, we decide to call once with top pair. He checks the turn OOP position, and Brian decides we should reverse blocker the turn. This wasn't in my thought process but when Brian mentioned it, I loved it. It would either take the pot down with me right there or if he called, it would buy me a free river to showdown (hopefully). Obviously, if he C/R turn, It's an easy fold. I just really liked this hand b/c it was another thing to put in my arsenal that isn't really there at the moment.
The sessions have been going really well lately b/c I have a better undersanding of the concepts. When PIF started, I was pretty far behing Brian (obv), Pawel, Frankie, and Josh. I'm not claiming I'm up to their level now but at least I understand the concepts to learn and get better.
On a bad note, last night I went on the worst tilt EVER. I was down around $500 overall and brought it back to -$200. Then this happened to set me in a downward spiral.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1549216
An hour later, I was down $650 for the day :( I never have really been one to tilt but las night, I couldn't control myself. These are situations I need to avoid. Roll is down to $5440 now. I'm getting around $500 in rakeback so I need to make another $1000 to get to $200NL. Still feel good about the game.

I do not know if this applies to you, but I noticed that every time I learn a new concept I tend to overuse it and it causes me to either misplay a few hands or run into a couple of bad beats. Then I go on TILT ... I think that fancy plays are a great addition to the playbook, but if overused it could actually hurt your game. Used sparingly and timed correctly and you could be the one putting your opponents on tilt.
By the way, what is PIF?

It's a sloooow burn, this here game of poker. I've been playing in some live games around Philly this month as well, including Friday and Saturday night until 6AM. This weekend I was able to net about a grand, which I'm happy with. The games ranged from 1-2 to 2-5.
The 2-5 game is worth talking about. It is a group of 5-6 jewelers that play, none of which...can actually play. The good news is they have plenty of money and the game plays like a 5-10 6 max game. There was about 10k on the table by the end of the night. 2 guys were stuck 4 full buy ins. I am just upset I wasn't able to get to the game earlier in the evening. I only got in about 2 hrs of play until the game shut down because the host was now down $2400. The final hand of the night was the absolute sickest hand I've ever witnessed. Unfortunately, it involved my friend and backer whom introduced me to the game as someone who just likes to play. My friend Brian actually thinks the hand may have been set up, but I don't think these guys are bright enough to do that. Here's how it went down
UTG Armenian (host) raises to $40 or so, UTG+1 Armenian calls, Brian calls. The flop comes 3 7 8 with 2 clubs. UTG goes all in for $190. UTG +1 calls. Brian raises to $700 or so. Other guy min raises Brian. Brian goes all in. He had $2400 to begin the hand. The other guy had Brian covered to start the hand. The host shows 33, Brian shows 77 and of course the other guy has 88. It's important to note that both Armenians are absolutely horrible and have no concept of outs pot odds, etc. I saw one chase down a gut shot for his entire stack 30 min prior. As I told Brian, it just so happened that he had the nuts, but he probably would've done that with any over pair or draw.
What makes Brian think he was cheated was the fact that we were each taking turns dealing. On this deal, an Armenian sitting between Brian and the winning player was dealing. Now this dealer also took a bad beat earlier in the night against Brian, in which Brian hit a one outer on the river to stack this guy for over 1k. So, the motive is def there. I just dont see how this guy could stack the deck that quickly without anyone noticing. It's certainly possible, but it would take an experienced cheater to pull this off.
Now, I can say that Brian and I could cut these guys up easily if we played with them consistently. Brian has played with most of these guys for the last year or so on an occasional basis and has probably taken 5 figures from this game. I've played 4 sessions with this group and am already up 2k. I am dying to go back and play because the game is that predictable. I will certainly pay more attention to the dealing, but I think the chance that he was cheated was miniscule. But, please let me know your thoughts if you read this. I ended up a buy in, despite being up as much as 2 buy ins. I made most of my money from a set that I turned, in which I checked the flop. The same guy that dealt the hand to Brian, thinks I bluff him every hand, so I overbet all in on the river, and he called with what I could only imagine was a hand like 2nd or 3rd pair.
When that game ended I drove a few blocks to the nittiest 1-2 game ever. What's great is that some of the players play small stakes online and probably read the forums like P5's and throw around terms like nit and donkey. Meanwhile, I'm thinking you just told me that you wouldn't call an all in with your shortstack pre-flop with QQ. I just ran over the table, raising about 25% preflop. The game was 7 or 8 handed most of the night. Raise, c-bet, win. That was the formula. One guy sitting to my right kept open limping, so I punished him all night. Then he began to take a stand against me, although a predictable line. One hand I called his raise in position The flop came Q high. I had Ace high. He leads for a $40 pot size bet, and I raise to $120. He folds and I show. When the hand began he had said that this was his last hand, and that he was about even. This is the reason I bluffed. He wanted to go home a winner, and that is why it was a good opportunity to stick in the raise. Of rse, he decides to stick around for a few more hands now. A few minutes later I straddle for $6. He re-straddles for $10 (which is a dead raise). A late position player calls and I look down at JJ. I bump it to $40, and both players call. The flop comes 5 J 5. I check, and the frustrated player leads for $75. It folds to me, and I call. Theturn brings an Ace. I check and he bets $125. I decide to min raise, hoping he has a 5. He folds and shows 9 6. It turns out, if I would've just called and checked the river, he said he wouldve shoved for $400+ Oh well.
If you read the following paragraph and disagree with me, you are probably a losing player. One player at this game tells me he doesn't understand my button raises. He goes on to tell me how it's an aggressive move to steal $3. I start to say that there is more to it than that, but I catch myself and decide not to educate the weak players at the table. I wish online play was this ez
. I'll likely play one or 2 nights this week in the city, as at is ++++EV.
GL out there

Well I cashed again, which isnt something I usually mention unless its a final table cash, but this one was super fun the whole way through. From the beginning I was running ice cold and really didnt think anything was going to change anytime soon. I was watching a few friends tables in the tounry, one of which was Brian. My table had been a bit out of hand so we were in the middle of talking or laughing about it when my table closes...Im always disoriented for a second when this happens so it took me a good 30 seconds to realize me and Brian were at the same table!!! I had just won a decent size pot before being moved, so this put both of us in the top tier of the tounry with around 140ish left if I remember correctly. I would have been thrilled about this if we had been at seperate tables, or even on different sides of the same table, but to my dismay he not only had position right on top of me but also had me covered in chips!!! the next closest to our stacks was under 6k (we had around 12k and 14k each) so this was either really good or really bad for me!!!
Well....I guess it turned out really good for me....without a doubt this hand put me in the money!!! xoxoxox Brian!!!
