CARDRUNNERS
What's Your Edge
Today I lost about 6500. That's more than my stop loss limit. That occured thanks to being down and then losing 3k at the same time on two other tables...sweet. Here are some highlights.

First big pot of the day.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?441555
I like how I played this hand. I actually won it.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?441573
Pretty standard stacking. Not much I can do.

I gues it was a pretty bad raise on river. The player is terrible and it sure looked like a blocking bet to me. Stupid to raise though I guess.

I probably should have just folded on the turn. ack.
The last two happened at the same time and thats when I called it quits.
I think I played pretty decent. What can ya do. This 85k is probably going to be pretty hard unless I run well most of the month. I can't have too many more sessions like this one and the one the other day.
I'm kind of pissed that the stars, ftp and ub games have been terrible lately. The party games seem to play with a pretty high variance for some reason. That vaelosis dude is ruining the stars games and nothing has been running on ftp or ub.
I'm going to go get high and watch V for Vendetta. I love not being 21. I would have been out getting wasted and not playing tonight if I could get into a bar.
Oh yea, I did win about 1k playing PLO for a video earlier.
I don't think I'm going to have much time to play tomorrow because I am going to go see the MLS all stars play Chelsea. That'll be a good time.
Today: -6538.35
Overall: 1889.89
9110.11 behind pace
I typically play a good player who knows my game much different than I would play the average player at my table. I know that I will get respect in certian spots and that allows me to run bluffs I wouldn't try against a good player. Also, I know to get away from hands that I probably wouldn't get away from against a weak player.

Here's a spot against a player I have played a ton with. I am basically representing a set here. He knows thats exactly how I play a set. If he doesn't have a huge hand, he has to fold here.
I'm pretty sure I can get back to even by the end of the week. At least that is the hope. If I can get back to even with 10 days left in the month I think I can still clear a pretty decent profit.
I bought MLB.TV yesterday. It's pretty sweet. I can watch any baseball game in the country and the quality is good. I would say its almost comparable to non-HD tv. You can also put it into a mosiac so that you can have as many as 6 games going at once. It also lets me watch Tigers games.
This sunday the Sopranos and Entourage start up again. I'm pretty damn pumped for that.
I'm pretty frustrated after my last session I just had. I'm gonna go take it out at the gym.

It seems like gambler is throwing in the towel. I think he's mostly going to play MTTs now and that wasn't what our bet was. I had hoped it would last the entire month, but what can you do. I just can't seem to get much going on the poker front. I seem to win a little and then lose a little. I have been trying out some higher games (3/6nl and 5/10nl). I feel my game is coming around quite a bit and that I just need to hit a better run to really make some real cash.
I'm sitting at around +3k for the month. My hope is to make at least 20k. I'd really love to be able to cover my buyins for the WSOP. After playing my first event, I've decided I probably won't play as many as I once thought. There is just so much luck involved. I'm going to play the 3k on Sunday, the 5k HU on tuesday. After that I think I'll play the 5k 6 man and then the main event. Of course, if I do well in one of these, I might play more. That's what I'm thinking for now though. That adds up to about 25k total in buyins. My hope is that I can play some 10k satellites and win my ME seat. Otherwise, I might sell some of myself. I think putting up 10k is a lot and I'm not crazy about doing that.
I'm gonna head to the gym in a few minutes and then probably put in a long session tonight. I might even go play some live poker.
Sopranos - I personally liked the finale. The more I think about it, the more I liked it. Everyone wanted a big blood bath, but I had a feeling that wasn't what was going to happen. That's just not in the style of the show. I liked how Chase left it all up to the imagination about what was going to happen. I'll be honest, I grew attached to the Sopranos family (as shitty people as they were) and I didn't want to see any of them die. My guess is that maybe Meadow was pregnant and she was excited/uptight about that. I'm downloading the show now so that I can watch it a few more times. This final season really reminded me of how good the show can be. I think I might sit down and watch the entire series again. It's been a really long time since I've seen the first few seasons.
It's been very frustrating to see all the backlash against us the past week. It has made me want to avoid forums on both Cardrunners and 2p2. That's probably one of the main reasons I haven't made a blog post. It's really amazing how much people can hate. 2p2 can be so negative. I can understand some of the complaints, but I just wouldn't expect it on the scale it's been on. I really make a conscious effort to keep negativity out of my life. That's one of the reasons I stopped posting about bad poker sessions (another reason I haven't posted in awhile). I think life is a lot more enjoyable when you focus on the good things and try to avoid the bad things. Lord knows there are plenty of negative things in our world today. Maybe I'm just naive, but that's the way I like to approach life.
I spent a ton of time playing this week. I've been playing 5/10 and 10/20 plo with mixed results. The results are mixed in that I did horrible when I first moved up. I played a very fearless and aggressive style at 2/4 and I think that's why I did so well down there. I wasn't in my comfort zone at first at the higher PLO games and I played too timid. I feel very comfortable up there now and my results are really coming around. I made about 12k yesterday which felt really nice.
I haven't seen a ton of an effect of being red yet. I think I would see more if I were playing NLHE. I'm sure it can't hurt though as far as getting action. I know Taylor has been getting great action in the NLHE games.
I'm sitting in the airport now. I'm going to Hawaii with my family. I don't think there could be a better time to get away from the online world and just relax for a week. I've never been to Hawaii before and I've always wanted to do. I have a lot of things I want to do while I'm there. I'm planning on golfing a few times, scuba diving, snorkeling and trying out surfting. I've always wanted to try surfting, but I've never had the chance. I hear it's pretty hard, so I hope I'm not completely terrible.
Hopefully I'll get some cool pictures and just have some good/relaxing times.
I'll leave you with this Phil Hellmuth vid that Taylor came across the other day. Can you believe that people pay for this "system" of his?
I don't care how lucky you have been in the past, you stil have to beat Phil Hellmuth's pocket queens.
Mar 15, 08 12:04:10
damn he beat me to it. just wanted to call u a megalomaniac! haha
i think i am just going to go post on all of the cr ftp pros walls and call them all megalomaniacs. luckbox megalomaniacs, try and crack my queens
Mar 15, 08 12:23:36
Phil has gone completely nuts IMO
Wonder from whom he has won 180k in a week... Did he 10000-table NL10?
Mar 15, 08 13:57:39
lol, that video is terrible.......promise you'll never hire him for any CR vids!
Mar 15, 08 16:33:40
You're doing the right thing by just avoiding the forums. I started to read a little bit of the 2p2 threads and just decided it wasn't worth it. Most of the negativity is spawned by jealousy. I guarantee that evey single one of the posters spewing hate would be thrilled to be in the same position as the CR pros. I for one am looking forward to the added benefits of this deal and trust in the judgement of CR management. After all, I can honestly say that CR is the number one reason I went from being a losing micro player to a winning small stakes player in only a few months. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Mar 15, 08 17:15:50
fwiw, I cant believe all the backlash that you guys have gotten either, both on people's blog's comments and on 2p2.. I think that you guys made the right decision from a business, personal and member-oriented POV.. have a great time in hawaii
Mar 15, 08 17:51:18
Keep fighting the good fight mate, there is a few of us around here who do support you all the way.
All the best.
Mar 16, 08 15:02:50
How about a statement from CR about that 'fantastic'deal, instead of complaining about the 'online world'????
The silence form you guys is deafening, and it's probably a very bad strategy. A lot of people are thinkin of cancelling their subscription and it seems like CR doesn't care at all.
Mar 16, 08 15:06:04
I think the complaints about you guys "selling out" or educating the fish are foolish
though the complaints about the anonymous accounts are not, FTP is pretty clear with 1player to an account, 1account to a player and well if you want to team up with them its time to accept that rule, and honestly be grateful they decided to look past CR's documented abuse of that rule
if you guys stick with FTP and play on your own accounts I'm glad for you, and think its a great partnership

I stopped reading on 2p2 a while ago because it's so negative that I would inevitably get tilted just reading it.
Personally, Cardrunners has really had a positive impact on me, just want to let you know that while some people will be negative, there are a lot of others like me who you've helped immesurably and support you 100%
ps (would love if you guys could get rakeback for cr members with old accounts with Full Tilt now that you are partners and all)
First off, I'm on a big downswing in the bet vs Taylor. It's not looking too good for me. I took a shot at 25/50 last night and lost. Oh well. We'll see if I can turn it around the next few days.
I made it pretty deep in the PLO mtt today. It was hard to play a PLO event where there were no rebuys and you started with 60bbs. I honestly played terrible early on, but was able to suck out a few times and I accumulated a nice stack. I ended up losing a 25k pot at 300/600 blinds with KKJ9 vs AK99. Ouch. That left me with like 8k and I never recovered. It's pretty frustrating, but what can you do.
I did get interviewed by Pokernews today.
