At least the night was a blast. Drank and ate at the restaurant I sorta work at, and coincidentally everyone was there gettin fucked up. Always fun partying with college kids.
Played about 20min of poker inbetween and took about $50.
Today:
Didn't feel like playing poker. Didn't do a whole lot of anything but worked. I leave for Vegas on Sunday morning. I might try and sleep as much as possible until then...although one of my best friends from college is coming down tomorrow for the weekend. He makes me look tame when it comes to drinking. I'm currently nervous for the next 10 days of partying. Yikes!

and....UCSB is playing UCLA in the College Cup final game (Soccer). GO GAUCHOS!
There are so many juicy 100 NL games running on FTP right now, but unfortunately I have class. I'm not one to let poker get in the way of college, as I realize that college is much more important -- however it's tough to close the tables and leave when there are so many fish (for some reason).
I've seen some pretty crazy hands today. 3 way all ins AIPF with A9 vs. AK vs. 55 for a 300 BB pot, etc. I mean, I was salivating at the thought of playing with them.
Oh well, hopefully they are still around and run well so then they can spew chips and $$$$ to me :o).
P.S. - I'm making it a point to post more in the forums on CR. Starting to lurk more and help where I can.
To my outside poker people who are reading this blog in hopes that I can start breaking down the college basketball scene like a few of us did last year for a good amount of profit, ok :)
I'm no Duke fan, but I am now convinced that Duke will no longer need to play with a big 6"10 to 6"11 star center to get big rebonds and block shots. Coach K has been the first person to really change his philosophy, by bringing in some guys that can play the 3 4 or 5 spot. College Hoops today is defense, the three pointer, lots of ball movement, and making runs at a torrid pace. The days of dominating Ralph Sampsons, Shaq, and Greg Oden are seemingly over.
Why?
Because a true talent at 6"11 or 7" never came to college to stay 4 years and get a pciture perfect education. These true height plus talent combinations came to college thinking about the NBA, and are often one and done guys, like Greg Oden. I believe the rest of the country will continue to adjust to this next type of college basektball. Look at these coahces getting huge contracts thanks to a tournament run? Bruce Pearl's UW-Miluwakee team has made him a popular and wealthy man, thanks to there three point pace that pushed them deep into the tournament a few years back.
I'm also going to be very interested in watching the Atlantic 10 for the next few weeks. These teams, Dayton, Xavier, Charlotte, etc, are proving to be competitive fixtures ont eh college basketball scene this season. I will be trying to catch as many Chalotte games this month, and it makes it kind of exciting, given that a focused league has a team in my city. I like Dayton as well - already with wins over Louisville and Pitt, in whom they destroyed. Xavier is antoehr watcher as well, even though they have a light schedule, that have handed Indiana their only defeat of the season. They come to Chalrotte on Feb 13th, so I might try to catch this one.
I'm not regretting my decision to join Cardrunners one bit. It's been well spent money. I knew the site would be worth it anyway, and I'm still not sure took me so long to join, besides the hope of using poker money rather than my own money to pay for it. One problem i've had in the past is losing interest to learn about the game, putting it asaide to actually play it. I'd begin to read and watch pro's, but become board and sit down at a table instead. With only 3 days here, I am definilty interested in learning again. Sorting through the bullshit at Pocketfives to find information seems like a complete waste of time, when You can hit the wrong link here and stumble upon something useful and interesting.
salty.

Another pretty bad day.
Dropped about $800 in like an hour. I'm playing bad AND running bad, which is not a good combination. I really need a break, and I've actually got a fun one coming up as I just booked my tickets to go stay with my old college roommate in NYC for New Year's. Should be a good time. Then hopefully I'll come back in 2008 and start crushing stuff.

Hey readers and viewers, I decided to become a poker blogger. I am doing this in order to keep records of how well i am doing etc. My goal is to try and become a pro poker player by the time I get out of college. To give you guys a little background information, currently i am a junior in college and go to pomona college. I don't play too much poker in college but play usually every day for a few hours, however I still use poker as a source of income. My goal is to net 100k sometime within the next.
Some of you may know me, i usually ONLY play heads up, i'm confident that as soon as you move up from 1-2 and play ring games, everyone has pokertracker and pokerAve HUD. My new labtop for some reason doesnt let HUD work...i hate vista anyway.. heads up is the best way to dominate a donkey i do believe. however for those of you thinking of playing, beware of the swings, they get tremendous. Like Chris Ferguson and his turning 0 into 10k i am hoping to turn a base roll of 500 into 100k.
Iv ran pretty well this year but cashed out everything but 500. What is also nice is rakeback is gonna at least give me 500 by the 15th of next month anyway.
Hey guys, I just got back from one of my best friend's wedding in Lexington, Virginia (the town of Washington and Lee where I went to school). The week as a whole definitely had a wide range of emotions for me, I saw a bunch of my great friends from college who I have not seen in over 6 months, had some amazing times drinking, sharing stories, and playing golf, and saw my buddy marry the woman he is going to be with the rest of his life... forever. I definitely feel much older now knowing a guy that I spent all four years of college with is a married man, but I really think it was a great thing because it brought together a group of friends that had not seen each other in way too long. Furthermore, I think it definitely cemented a tight friendship between my college friends that will be longlasting, despite not seeing each other for a long time, we picked back up on jokes, insults, stories, personalities immediately. Finally it was an interesting test of my career. It almost seemed like a prerequisite for this wedding to be brilliant in order to be invited, all of the guests, parents, and friends are extremely successful and educated (the groom was recently accepted into Harvard Law). So it was much to everyone's surprise when I told them I play poker for a living, and my normal sleep schedule is waking up at 2pm and going to bed at 6am. Regardless of the rebel nature of "gambling" for a living, I am quite proud of my accomplishments of getting full scholarships to high school and college, and then using that education towards the application of poker.
So on a personal note....
To the bride and groom, and all my friends and gf at the wedding, love you guys
Salud!
Tonight is is huge night for college BBall for me. College Basketball is by far my favorite thing to watch, I would give up every other sport, professionally and college, if I had to choose so I could keep CBBall. Anyways I attend Washington State University but I grew up in Spokane, WA, home of Gonzaga. I pretty much have been a fan of both programs all my life, but a much larger Gonzaga fan as WSU sucked and were unbearable to watch, while the Zags have gone to the tournament 10 years in a row now. Anyways, tonight is a dillemma. Were(WSU) 6th in the country and GU is 19th, and we play eachother tonight. I really want the cougs to win as we are having such a good season and I think we have more potential than the zags this year to go deep in the tourny. Big Problem:The Kennel! The Zags are 44-1 in their new arena and with how much hype there is in Spokane for this game, it is going to be incredibly loud.
Im nervous, guess we will just see what happens.
I havent played poker at all since my big win which kinda sucks since I usually like to play right after my wins to keep my confidence up, but just havent had the time. Tomorrow isnt looking much better either, hopefully this weekend.
