Only made it about an hour in both the UB and Stars tournys. I decided to pass on the FTP and go play nine holes w/ my dad and little brother. It was a good choice. My game is finally starting to come around which I am really happy about.

Tonight Im gonna watch entourage and probably play an hour session of PP 5/10nl.

I had another great session at FTP today too. FTP is a godsend. Those games are crazy soft the last week that I've played there.

Yesterday I played a veyr long session. I was playing on FTP and stars. I crushed on stars and got killed on FTP. I won about 7 buyins on stars and lost about 8 on FTP. I was playing/running well on stars, but not playing very well on FTP. I was just reading Talyor's blog about playing his A game 100% of hte time. I am going to publicaly make a committment to do the same. I need to focus 100% when I am plyaing. I need to sign off aim, stop surfing the web and watch teh games I am in. Also, I was 8 tabling 10/20 yesterday w/ some of the games HU. That simply isn't smart. I need ot limit my games to 6 total when I am playing 10/20. I should have had a huge session yesterday but because I played poorly on FTP, I ended up losing a buyin.

Today is a new day. I've said this before, but I mean it now, it's time that I stop messing around and actually start playing my best game everytime I play.

I wasn't even sure if I was going to play today, because I'm getting really burned out on poker. I got a bunch of stuff done early in the dya and even got some golf in. When I got hom at 4 I decided I'd play for about 2 hours until dinner. I looked at the Party games and they were piss poor. I decided I'd hop on some of the other sites. I've basically only been playing party lately, so I was ready for a change. I played 3 FTP, 2 UB and 3 stars tables. I got stuck about 1k on each site right away and was stuck as much as about 4k I think but then the cards started coming around. It was a pretty uneventful, but satisfying session. I'm done for the day and happy with the progress I made.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?457089
This hand basically was going to make or break my session. The guy was on a few of my tables on stars and ftp. I just saw him lose a big pot on FTP right before this and I had already thought he was starting to tilt. I decided to play the hand as fast as possible since he probably wasn't folding too many hands. It worked.

March 10, 2008

Today is a very exciting day for the CardRunners community. All seven of the CardRunners lead pros, myself, Andrew, Brian T., Cole, Brian H., Eric, and Mike are now officially Full Tilt Pros! Personally, and I know the other guys feel the same way, I'm honored to become a Full Tilt Pro. I truly believe that FTP is the best site to play on, and is the place I tell all of my friends to play. This blog will serve to discuss our relationship in a more informal manner, as I'm sure a lot of people in the CR community will have some questions for us.

Basically, some time last summer, FTP approached us and told us that they love what we are doing. Our pros are some of the biggest winners in the history of online poker, but we do things the right way. We aren't the type of guys to go around bragging about how great we are, rather, we let our results and accomplishments speak for ourselves. In a time when internet players are typically known as young "punks" to people outside of our world, I think we have carved out our niche as internet pros that are respectful to other players and to the game that has given us all so much. Full Tilt suggested that we form a partnership, so that our lead pros would become Full Tilt Pros, and our company could reap some of the benefits that a top-tier online site could provide.

Of course we were flattered that Full Tilt showed interest in our pros and our company, but we weren't sure exactly how this partnership would work. The first thing that came to my mind was "wow, what a great way to expose our brand to lots of poker players eager to learn the game, but how our are members going to react to this?" The last thing I wanted to do was engage in a deal that wouldn't provide value to a combination of our members, our pros, and our company. After all, CardRunners has always been about the community as much as anything else, and that's something I don't ever want to change. Cautiously optimistic, we continued discussions with FTP.

Over the course of the next few months, we talked a little bit more about the deal. We worked out some things that I think will be great for the CR community. One thing I am excited about is fund that FTP is providing for us to attract top MTT talent. We'll be able to provide top MTT players with buy-ins to major tournaments, in exchange for videos for the CR community. We will also be ramping up our recruitment of cash game pros. This deal should solidify our position as the class of our industry, and we aren't stopping here. Expect to continue to see big name additions to our staff of instructors. Finally, we're also going to be awarding free World Series seats, including one seat to the Main Event. Our members will directly benefit from all of these parts of the deal, and that's really important to me. On top of this, we figured we'd throw in some cool prizes, including the Macbook Air, and some gift certificates to StubHub. More details on this are coming soon.

As I'm sitting here writing this, I really don't know how to best describe the feelings I'm having. I grew up in the "Moneymaker era," just like most of the rest of the "internet kids." Before his huge win, I played poker in the dorms with many of my friends. I remember rushing home from summer school that summer so I could catch the new episodes of the WSOP. That summer I cut my shifts in half at the pool so I could grind $5 SNG's on UB, ha. I don't really know what I was thinking. Poker was just so new and fun to me back then, if anyone ever told me I'd eventually gain a sponsorship to play poker I don't know what I would have said.

Another part of the deal that feels so unbelievable is that I remember the days of online poker before FTP even existed. When FTP first launched, I immediately registered an account and tried it out. I remember thinking it was really cool that you could play with Phil Ivey, who has always been my favorite player. I didn't play too much at FTP back then because there was no high stakes action, but the site was always a first tier place to play. Over the course of 2004 and 2005, FTP slowly built up its player base, and really became the best site to play at. I split my play on UB and FTP at this time, as it was clear that FTP was really becoming the place to play.

The CR pros will be playing across the SSNL games on FTP today, so feel free to stop by and say hi. Please feel free to comment here or send me a PM if you have any questions or good ideas for CR in general. We want to continue to make this the best learning community for poker players everywhere, and I'm always available to listen to input.

To close, I'd like to say thanks to all of the people that have helped me out along the way. My family, friends, Melissa, and of course, all of the people who have given me advice on poker and CR. Finally, I'd like to say thanks to all of the CardRunners members out there. Without you guys, CR wouldn't be what it is today. thank you!

TC, I read the part about you guys playing today on FTP, I find you at 200nl 6max and the very first hand I watch you 4bet from the BB preflop with 97s and flop a straight after a guy moves in with AK. So, two questions, you think you can get me sponsored as well? And, why would anyone sit with you at 5/10 HU? Thanks

Mar 10, 08 12:56:18

You should try to get something in place where ppl with FTP accounts but not using them because of no rakeback can get switched to a rakeback account.

Awesome job taylor!!! Looks like you have arrived. Again!! It sounds like an amazing partnership. By the way the vids keep getting better IMO so keep up the good work.

Rakeback for existing members would definitely increase traffic on their site.

beware... FTP is interested i your company... they wanna take over CR!!! NOOOOO!!!

Mar 10, 08 14:56:21

Hey Taylor,

Quick question. Does this new partnership mean that almost all new videos produced will be on FTP? If this is true, wont this effect your training video diversity (many sites require different playing styles based on the competition), since you will be limited to one site? Thanks for the clarification.

Chris

Mar 10, 08 16:01:52

Hate to be bitchy, but how exactly does this benefit anyone other than the CR pros and CR itself as a company? I don't really see how there's any benefit in this deal for the current membership. Isn't it going to make videos of the CR pros that much more unreliable and unrealistic because all of the CR pros will be playing in red names and your FTP opponents will then not be reacting normally to your play? I can't really see any of the CR pros being able to make worthwhile videos on FTP under 5/10 NL now...

TBD

Mar 10, 08 16:33:03

Our FTP Pros will be making videos on FTP. We are going to be adding and recruiting MSNL and HSNL pros to make videos on other sites. Also, in the past, we've had very visible pros on FTP and been able to make good videos on that site, that will not change.

Mar 10, 08 21:58:13

From a business standpoint this is great. From a member standpoint not sure. I mean its pretty -EV for us if everyone on FTP is a CR member. The benefits to us are freeroll tourneys :( and a 1/10,000+ chance at a macbook.

A better announcement -"Hey guys CTS, Stinger, and BT are now doing one vid a week instead of one a month" weeeeeeeee

Great news guys. FTP was always my favourite site to play on. Like som eother guys have said though - if you can change existing accounts to rakeback in ay way that would be great. Because FTP didnt do this I had to leave and go play elsewhere. Cheers, Rossy

Great point and I agree. Obviously this is a hugh sell out and something that disappoints me greatly. There's no reason (besides padding Your own pockets) a poker training site should be affiliated with a cardroom. Hugh conflict of interest.

Where's the integrity guys? I hope the contract with FTP is fairly short term and that You can exit this seriously flawed deal once You realize that this is NOT a good thing for CR members.

So this means no more low- to midstakes videos by the "7 samurais?" And only videos on FTP? Not to mention the chatter on these featured tables - Unbearable to say the least with people flocking to these games just to sit down with a CR Pro. Yes, I believe the videos will be flawed and will not benefit CR members as much as before. Sure, most people know 'sbrugby' and most of the other CR Pros' screen names, but this will definitely put a bullseye on each and every one of them every time they sit down.

"A seat to the WSOP Main Event?", "Macbook Air?" Seriously, isn't the idea that by learning from You guys we can afford to buy our own "Gift certificates to StubHub?" instead of being bribed by Microsoft and Google, oops, I mean FTP and CR.

Also very interesting how this deal was announced one week after I plucked down \$200 for the rest of 2008...

Oh well, enough venting - Now I'm heading over to PokerStars to play some poker!

- Max

P.S. I honestly hope my predictions are wrong and that I have to publicly apologize in the future. But I gotta say, it doesn't look good for CR members...

Mar 12, 08 04:49:11

Seems like a very very bad deal for CR members.
I hope you have thought about a way to keep the quality of your videos on the same level, otherwise it's just a sellout...

I think you'll really need to give an explanation beyond 'more freerolls, gadgets' and other silly promos.

congrats taylor. as drunk as you were the other day, i can't believe i couldn't pry a piece of this out of you.

i mean, come on, you are a pro on FTP... just like Matasow

The reason most of us joined cardrunners isn't because we wanted to play some crappy freerolls or have a chance to win a mac (I don't even think I can because I'm EU) .

We joined to be able to see how the best players beat up the game. In my eyes the videos won't be as profitable for us when you're playing under a name that everyone just want's to make a move at. I would also like to see you guys play at some Euro sites but that's probably not gonna happen either.

This sounds so meh.. good for you, bad for the members... Sucks if your turning the community down, I'm sure your gonna work this out.

As stated before, a better offer for us would be a movie a week by the CR pros instead of one a month.

Aetanal

Mar 12, 08 18:20:33

I agree, great for the cardrunners pro's, but I joined this site for getting better at the game, not for freerolls or gifts or having to hear how great FT is. We'll see.

Steinitz

Mar 13, 08 17:41:16

I dont see anyway this can be good for cardrunners members. I thinkalot of the reason the members here are members is because its a thing only some of the poker community knows about. Now you are trying to expose it to everyone, you can say donks will be donks and sure there will be people that wont give it the time of day, but alot of people do so if u get 5x the people sign up as you do now that would be a huge hit to poker in general. Im sure there could be maths done on it. It probally seems like good now to you as a bussiness idea, trying to boost the people that see it, but i believe a product like this can only have so many people with it to keep it the same good product it is to start with. I feel like i have so many things to say about it and how the pros cant compared to the cons. But i got to go. Just feels like the community is being taken out of cardrunners for money. Just my thoughts.

yonnyaus

Mar 13, 08 20:21:21

this is obviously great for the 7 of you and I don't take away from that, but I think you've made a huge mistake. I don't think you thought through even half of the implications, one of which is the whole practice of playing on others accounts in the past and the whole FJ thing recently. It just looks bad + all the stuff about getting played back at from being read etc.

thanks for the freerolls tho :(

Mar 17, 08 05:30:54

Sellouts. What a f'n sellout. Freerolls and gifts, so lame. This site just lost a lot of purity. FullTilt makes me sick the way they're trying to own the poker world. Didn't u guys have enough money already? Very dissapointing.

So that $5 i turned into $135 on ftp is no longer with me. I should just cash out the $400 on UB, it would be smart. hahaha. I ran pretty bad this morning multi tabling 25nl and lost about $60. I proceed to tilt the rest away at 100nl hu cash, when I 3 bet pushed 9J on a 669 board and ran into A6. F tilt. F ftp. GG me. So back to grinding sngs on UB...sweet.

Gonna go work out, something I haven't done in 2 months, and need to continue doing as it makes me feel so much better physically and mentally.

Had a very nice session today. Ended up ~140K in PLO and ~-40K in NLh across all sites. I ended up down about 75K in NLH on FTP but made 35K back playing HU against luckexpress who I met at in Monaco at the EPT finals. He was a very nice guy and I hope the action continues at pokerstars as it is a nice change of venue from FTP. I don't have any hand histories because today I played on my desktop and am on my laptop tonight. It really feels good to have a +100K day after having a horrible day yesterday. I am also sad that I can't play now as there are 6 very juicy 200/400 PLO games running but I went out tonight and I am very good about not playing poker while drunk. I can't complain though booking a 100K win feels very good after yesterdays downswing.

I've  been wanting a new mod for FTP and something that would make multitabling a lot easier for me.  I sometimes forget who's in a hand (Terrible, I know).  I'm not smart with this stuff and after about 2 weeks of searching for advice on how to do this stuff, I sat down and cracked it tonight.  Anyways, here's my new FTP mod.

Those cards are ugly. There are actually some white CR logo backs that are pretty cool and show up very well when you use a black table.

Please post more info.

I have similar problems when I have shrunk the windows down (multi tabling) and have pahud stats overlaid, this sometimes covers the cards and makes it difficult to see who's in a hand.

The wii just arrived in the mail today from PokerStars... prob 2.5 or 3 weeks after I ordered it.  Completely sick.  BTW, I will definitely plug PokerStars- they're definitely then nuts when it comes to poker sites.  Nothing is even close.  The ONLY reason I prefer FTP is because of RB.  Dont' get me wrong, FTP has great software, game selection, and tournaments, but PokerStars has that covered for sure.  The game selection is pretty good, though people may be a bit tougher.  The software and connection is just as reliable as FTP's, but the look, feel, and customization available to the table look I really really like.  Also, the time bank feature is better and the tournies have a better structure.  I love how they have .25/.50 hu tables and are combating against shorstackers (hopefully will cause a trickle-down effect).  They're customer service is sick for sure, and I obtained the Wii from their phenominal FPP VIP store.  Plus, I was also registered from some freerolls (which ended unsuccessfully...).  If they had rakeback there would be no reason for anyone to play on ANY other site.  The only reason FTP angers me a bit is because their FPP kind of store requires many more points for things, with smaller selection than Pstars, but mainly because of the look and feel of the site.  I've grown tired of the cartoonish look...

Neway, about the Wii.  Completely sick- just need to set up online with it (I don't even know if it has a wireless adapter...?)  and also buy some more controllers for when friends come over, along with Wii play.  I think those r gonna be the only games I'll need for a while on that.  Nintendo really hit the mark with this system.

Should be a good weekend coming up...updates to follow.

******9:30 PM Update****************

Ok guys, just finished playing some HU.  Playing very well.  I'm seriously on top of my HU game, and if I can find action, I'll play it every day.  It's more fun than 6max, more rewarding, and more profitable.  It's said to be the purest form of poker, and that's probably why I love it so much; it emphases everything I love about the game, and experience and dedication to the game shows through while playing.

TrueOrange is one of the guys I played today.  Played VERY unorthodox- ended up winning $800 off of him in ilke 20 mins at the 2/4 tables (bought in for $260 each).  He played RELEE weird and make some rele crazy plays.  Yes, I was fortunate enough to be on the good side of those, but basically, dude played releee weird and sometimes passive and sometimes overbetting nutjob (with somewhat marginal hands for the bet size in relation to pot).  For example:  http://www.pokerhand.org/?1726063

I can't get over how I played this hand.  IMO, it was soo sick.  I didn't wanna get raised off my hand on the flop.  Therefore, I checked.  I planned to c/r, figuring he'd bet so much on thef lop and my hand certainly looked strong.  On the turn, I decided to weak-lead, to induce a raise, then to shove over the top of it.  Basically, I got the most value from a draw while taking the pot.  [X] Max value [X]Good for Metagame   http://www.pokerhand.org/?1726069

Destroyed the HU on FTP about an hour and a half ago.  Found a few regs sitting just now, but

Sick riv for a ~600BB pot.  I was small fav on flop- I ran fairly well vs this good HU reg.  I decided to gamble, and he would fold a lot of hands on flop neway.  http://www.pokerhand.org/?1726090

Very close to folding this, but decided he was tilting a bit and my hand could be sorta underrepped because he could assume I'd peel the flop with overs with my image, and I called.  http://www.pokerhand.org/?1726099

My friend and fellow CR member, Pacuno played me today on FTP for a bit.  i was up like... $1k on him at first, then he came back and I ended up stuck like $200.  GG Pacuno, fellow strong and hyperaggro nutjob HU (I wonder who's crazier- him or me).  Here was a sick suck and resuck.  http://www.pokerhand.org/?1726102

Though it may not look like it, I think my play was good here.  Once in a while, I'll have the best hand anyway.  78 and JQ both play like this.  Once in a while he'll have air and fold.  If he has Tx, I'm most likely a 60-40 dog with tons of $ in the pot.  If he has a small pair, I need one of 3 nines, 3 J's, 3K's, or 4 Q's.  So if I have 13 outs twice, I have ~48% equity, so virtual coinflip with lots of $ in pot.  Basically, because of the amount in the pot and my equity vs his hand range, I pushed.  I seriously think this is a +EV play.  http://www.pokerhand.org/?1726111

Here, I basically played my hand so fast trying to look weak but was releee strong.  I wanted him to play back at me so badly- he was tilting at this point.  And he did play back at me... with a better hand :-(.  This was the last hand of the HU match before I was quitting (I gave him 15 min warning); so sick!  I like his riv check in case I had a busted draw.  Damn pretty nasty cooler.  http://www.pokerhand.org/?1726119

I think the sickest laydown I've ever made in an MTT, and it will remain the sickest laydown I'll ever make (2nd nuts).  I don't know how I folded it- I guess I was seriously int he zone and wanted to win this thing.  http://www.pokerhand.org/?1726026.  His timing tells told me all I need to know.  I couldn't imagine him palying a lower flush like this.  If I went for the standard c/r line, I prob woulda went broke.  Something just didn't feel rite, and it felt like he was acting, and not thinking, when he shoved riv.  I don't think he's shoving riv with less than A high flush- time will tell.

Ironically, got back all my chips with the same hand, after hitting a Q high flush.  http://www.pokerhand.org/?1726078

First in this thing is $40k-560 started, 500 left.  I can definitely expect a grossly challenging field, so I'll navigate through the certaily treacherous waters.  I'm in a good mood and mindset rite now.

****Blog from Earlier in day*******

Basically, today was not a good day on Pokerstars, However, on FTP, it was a very good day. I won $2500 on FTP playing one dude HU (where I woulda won $1200 more but he hit a sick cooler on me on VERY last hand). So sick. Lost... oh jeez. I would have to say $3k on Pstars. Basically, I think I was 0-20 in allins preflop in the 50r. Then I added on chips. I had 4k at the 75/150 level. I chip up. Then, it's the 150/300 lvl. I have QQ UTG+3 with 15BB. UTG makes it 900 (DABADDESTCHIC- very good mtt player), and a coldcall from sorta a donk in UTG+2. I shove my stack, folds around, he calls. 14k pot. He tables JJ. Flop comes a lovely 993r. No backdoors, no shit. Turn Js. Dagger in my face; I'm out after wasting a fuckload of money. SOOO sick! in the $100r, I prob spend $1200-1600... basically lost all my allins preflop. it was pretty fuckin gross. HAYACHACAKCHACKACHACHAKCK (that's tilt language). My BR on Stars is... $6600. But I'm in the $320 wednesday tonight, so I'm basically even before this tuornament starts since the past few days. Damn tho, very nice run on FTP. The combined money I lost today was probably... oh, $600, plus the $600 earlier, so $1200 today. Normal mid stakes swings= gross!

I will post some HH tomorrow... sorta tired right now after some of these sick grinds... So happy I ran well on FTP- so in other words, doomswitch is now off on FTP, but on at stars!! GROSS! I still awnna play the $320 Wednesday tonight, so that's what I'll do. I'll play solidly and see what it do. Might also play nightly $100k gtd. From now on BTW, since I like NEVER play on FTP unless it's HU, I think what I'll actually do is transfer money from Stars ot FTP through a friend that will be my profits weekly. FTP is like my reserve $ to be cashed out... so that will feel very well to like be putting that $ in the bank equivalent. GL to me in the MTT's tonite! If I feel like it and not too tired, will play the nightly 30k $109 on FTP, though I won't lie, I run like balls in that torney every time I do it haha (and beileve me, that's been plenty). I hate FTP MTTs compared to stars...

I'm stuck maybe... $3800 on Stars today, though I'm up like $2675 on FTP.  So I really only lost ~$1100 (which still sux because it was almost all in those damn rebuy tourneys!).  However, there is a bright sight:  I wanted to consolidate all my cashout funds to FTP- sort of a self-protection method in case I tilted, since I never play FTP for the most part anyway.  So I moved some nice money technically from Stars to FTP (because if I didn't get stuck in rebuys so hard I woudln't have tried to earn it back HU on Full Tilt Poker).  So yea, interesting way to look at things for me.

December 06, 2007

Wow I played the BIGGEST FUCKING JOKE EVER AT HU PLO. I lost $1725 in 15 mins. UNREAL.

Here's 2 of VERY interesting HH which represented my night!!!

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1779769 You must be fucking kidding em at this runner runner- his equity was like... 7% on flop? And, about 5% on river... but obv the two outer hits; and I can't fold, though I'm prob beat.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1779766

Needed to dodge a 4, 7 or T of NON-CLUBS. WOOOOO, too late

Great, now I have fucking academic shit to do. WOOOOOOOOOIE.

WTF Y THE FUCKING HELL DO I RUN SO BADLY AT FUCKING NIGHT. JESUS CHRIST.

OK so...there you have it guys.  The official end to all things PLO.  No more gambling, no more hu- who cares if I play well... wtf do I want to hurt my emotional well-being for?

*Verneer, FYI, this was all 1/2 plo, so yes, 7.5 BI in 15 mins.  I dare you to find someone who sticks their money in 85% of the time ahead and loses a buyin every 2 mins... lol...how am I laughing about such sick BS?

So guys.... I'm going to move all of my roll to Stars as quickly as possible.  FTP has doomswitched me and is rigged...I will leave no money on FTP; I will regrind an FTP roll like I said I would.  I will try to find someoneto swap me $7200 or so on Stars for FTP money- updates to come.  I will move down everytime I have a losing day.  So guess what that means?  NL$100 for tomorrow- 9tabling on Stars.  Updates to come after my next session- will prob last ~1.25 or 1.5 hours tomorrow.  U guys are frustrated with me.  However, I'm making progress. I guarantee before, if same thing tonight happene dto me, i woulda movedup and busted roll, or kept playing and just fuckin stuck a stick in my ass the rest of th enight.  I seriously run horribly at night.  Wish I followed that rule of no playing after 9pm- I hadn't played after 9pm in like 2 weeks...

I have a feeling I'll just grind NL$100 for a while, even if I win and get a substantial $1/$2nl roll.  NL$100 is the highest limit where I really don't tilt; even if i lose 8 buyins, that's only $800... (and as I said I'll only lose 3-4 buyins with my stop-loss... didn't follow it 100% tonight guys sryyyy PLO HU is gross swingy).  So yea, I can deal with losing $300 or $400 in a day no prob.  So NL$100 it is for a while!  Will cash out periodically- this could make me much happier than trying to move up to middish stakes.  Middish stakes are seriously no fun with dealing with gross swings.  No PLO: HU OR 6MAX, w/e, any form.  You guys can imagine how I love poker but NLHE, heads up or 6 max, can certainly get boring... only reason I switched games for a while.  It will be a 2/5nl game this weekend... but I think I'll be okay in that.  Money doesn't go as quickly live as online for SURE.

I have ordered a book Verneer requested on Flow:  Optimal Experience or something (by some european author). Should be fantastic to help my poker game as far as mentality.  Maybe whenI get my rakeback after my break on FTP they'll boomswitch me and I'll run it up nicely.  I'll just try to accumulate enough points to get something tight, then I COULD leave FTP forever; Stars jus feels much better.

Still hope in the life game guys on Sunday... plz lemme win $2k or something lol.

Did you not just say this two days ago?

"Take my smallish roll that I'll have by mid-December after rakeback and try to run it up. ONLY NLHE... long break from PLO (that I will follow this time... damn stake from friend that one time really got me back into it, but I'm done with it for now)."

Sorry bro but you have zero discipline and you will be broke if you don't start to get some.

you clearly have a problem, I think a month long break would do you WONDERS, get your head off the game, because it is obvious you think about it 24/7. Be completely honest with yourself.
