This one is pretty funny.

Same guy so no way I'm folding JJ. Luckily, it held.

He overbet the pot a bit on the flop, so I was pretty sure he had a strong hand like two pair or a set. I figured I could get his stack if I hit my flush. I hit it on the turn and decided to bet it pretty strongly. I did and he used up his whole time bank but ended up pushing.

Pretty big call here. I'm glad I was right.
Today: +3320.55

Blinds were 150-300 with 50 antes and the button raised to 1500, taylor in the BB, waited for quite a while for effect and pushed all in for 10k with K's having put him on mid pair with that raise. The guy eventually called his remaining stack of 7k with 9's and was rewarded for his decision to caloff his stackl by the perfect turn card to catch his two outer, reducing Taylor to a few thousand and crippled.
The last hand came 45 minutes later when the same guy raised to 800 in CO and taylor pushed in the small blind for his last 2600. The guy called with A,9 which was dominated by Taylor's offsuit A,K...but fate once again reward the loose call and he turned the straight to eliminate Taylor.
Good effort Taylor, forced to play a tight game, he put his money in each time, way ahead, only to have the odds go against him.
On a side note, this lady in all pink Party Poker gear two to Taylor's left was a horrid player, who amazingly was still playing in spite of poor decisions all around. The capper was when she folded on the river after she had raised 2k on the river after have led out each round to the reluctant pot commited push for 250 more in an 9-10k pot. Just amazing, I wont belabour her poor play with other examples
I'm going to give an approximate count of my chips throughout the levels to illustrate this point.
1 10200
2 11500
3 17000
4 13500
5 16000
6 19000
7 22500
8 32500
9 58200
this is to the best of my recollection, but as you can see, i ever really chipped up a lot in one level except for the last level.
I'm not going to post the cards I held when I won the big pot to push me to a big stack because I don't know who reads this blog, but I'll post how the action went.
I raised my hand to 3500 with the blinds at 600-1200, and 100 antes. I have about 36k at this point. There are 5 hands left in the level, and a HUGE stack gets placed at our table. This guy is an online player who won a bracelet this summer, and is extremely aggressive and has raised about half the hands hes been at our table (8 or so hands). His stack is about 125k I'd say. So I raise my hand from the cutoff, he calls on the button. The flop comes down Th8h7h. I bet 6000 into the 10kish pot, and the player thinks for a long time and raises me 10k more, to 16k. I think for a minute or two, call his 10k raise and push in for my last 20k or so. He thinks for about 20 seconds, and folds his hand.
I hope I catch some breaks tomorrow and make some noise.

He is set to appear on High Stakes Poker on the Game Show Network on Monday. Check that out, too.

I'll admit, when I first learned who Mark Cuban was when he bought the Mavs I thought he was weird and foolish. Some of his antics made no sense and I just basically figured he was just another rich tech guy having some fun or something.
I was wrong. Very wrong. Mark Cuban is a genius. His entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking are second to none (in one man's opinion, obviously). The way that he made a billion in the dot com era and had the foresight to protect his fortune when all the other billionaires were worrying about their next 10 billion was impressive. Even more impressive to me is how he turned one of the worst franchises in professional sports into a contender in only a few years. The mav's sucked forever, and now they will compete each year, basically just because of Cuban's ability to attract top talent which puts fans in the seats. He changed the way things are done in an industry where frankly just going through the motions was almost always enough. He didn't have to make all of the changes that he did, he could have spent a lot less energy, money, and time and still would likely see a decent return on his money while having the most baller job ever.
Anyway, I could certainly talk more about why I aspire to be like Mark Cuban someday, but I'll cut that short for boringness purposes.
My question is: Anyone out there know Mark? Or know of a way I can contact him? I'd be willing to work an unpaid internship for an indefinite period of time. Once the WSOP is over, I'll move to Dallas and file paperwork if I have to. Whatever job he needs filled, I'll do it, for free. I just want to get to know him and learn as much as I possibly can. I'll include a link to his blog here which is a great read.

I'm not sure if anyone blogged about this, but for some reason I was thinking about this at the gym today so I'll make a quick post. All the CR pros had a great time in Santa Barbara. On Monday morning, Stinger, cts, and Ezra were driving back to LAX so Stinger and cts could catch flights back to the east coast. Now, Stinger is a really smart kid, great guy, etc., but he can be quite helpless sometimes, as you might expect a 19 year old multimillionaire to be. For example, it took him like 30 days to send in a contract, when we even offered to pay one of his frat brothers $50 to mail it for him.
Anyway, Stinger is driving Cole and Ezra into LAX. Apparently they have checkpoints there to make sure you aren't a terrorist or drug mule. So Stinger is driving, music blaring, just kicking it, and runs right through the checkpoint. The Cops are screaming STOP STOP STOP, and it takes him a little bit to realize whats going on. So they ream out the Sting man, and he dirtied his trousers a little bit. Eventually the cops realize he isn't a threat to national security and he goes along his way. Just another day in the life of Stinger885.

If Taylor has to mention how one of the CR pro's is a 'multimillionaire', or about how he has "goals to make the most money i've ever made" one more time - i might gag myself w/ a spoon. You come off as a major ****. Everyone already knows you are good, and that Stinger is good. To constantly remind us that they are "multi-millionaire's" is sooooo tacky and smells of haughtiness. Please put an end to it.

JediPokerTrix: Stop reading too much into everything, if you don't like it, have that as your own opinion and stop wasting time making comments like those. It is Taylors blog and he can write whatever he wants, however he wants. He does not have to prove his worthiness or act 'appropriately' in a blog post when the material itself is not harming anyone. Your post is bordering on the Guser posts of old. "Please put an end to it."

jedipokertrix - some people see comments like that as some sort of brag, and the reason they see it like that is because they have so little belief in themselves they they feel they will never reach that level of wealth
others like myself are inspired and driven by comments like because i know i will reach those levels too.
and yeah its taylors blog be can write what he wants, get over it

1. A lot of the people that read my blog (real life friends) don't play poker. I try to write most of the stuff in here so that anyone reading it can get a good background on what I'm talking about.
2. This is the poker industry. Sadly, money is how you keep score in this game. I'm surprised someone who plays as many hands as you do has a hard time accepting that.

I like Taylor's blog since he tends to write about interesting things and not just poker. Even though this is a poker training site, it's cool to learn about the people here, not just the poker player side.
I just wanted to quickly welcome David Benefield, Raptor, to CR. For those "in the know," David is one of the best young poker players in the world. At 21, he's been killing the online games for quite some time, played in Bobby's room, but keeps a relatively low profile as he isn't the type of player out bragging about how good he is. I became friends with David this fall after talking to him a little bit about real estate investing (he owns a 4 unit place and a house in Fort Worth, and is currently buying a house in LV), and learned what a really great guy he is. It's funny, because a lot of people simply know him as "durrr's roommate," and it's pretty fun to give him shit about that.
David is obviously a great player (look at his results from our main page story, over 1.3mm in winnings last year), but I'm more excited about learning a bit about his unorthodox style. He doesn't play like a robot, and truly thinks about the game differently than most of the top online players. He's also known to crush some of the biggest games in the world, but still be able to step down and grind MSNL. He'll be sharing his MSNL secrets with the CR community, as this is a major area of emphasis for us lately.
Anyway, welcome aboard David, great to have you around CR.

That's soooo sweet that Raptor's joining. Maybe he can play a sesh one time and Durrrr can sweat him, just to hear Durrrr's thoughts on hands once in a while. Raptor's so sick though.

very nice addition , I remember raptor playing a gazillion sngs back in the Party days.
