CARDRUNNERS
What's Your Edge
had long entry ready to go and something ate it before I got done.
summary, played way out of my BR tonight (100nl), won $25, and cleared a $50 bonus from PS that i forgot about. I ran ok , stats (30/24/1.88....what u think? too loose for 6 max?)
Anyway, i broke my rules for the challenge, but no harm done.....I will be back to the grindstone soon.

I guess you can call this the 75k hand challenge. I'm really anxious and I can't wait to start. I feel real motivated. I have been having a small problem getting all my hands imported into PokerTracker for some reason? Not sure why but it seems like it's been cutting out the ends of my sessions lately. Oh well.
Financial Goals:
1. Make $1500 from 50nl 6 max.
2. Make $2500 from 100nl 6 max.
3. Make $500 from $50nl HU
4. Make $2k + from rakeback.
Totals = + $4500 from poker and +$2k from Rakeback for $6500.
I'm aiming high this month, but I'm 100% dedicated and I'll atleast log the hands, just really have to hope the results follow. If I miss the goals, so be it but I can at least say I tried.
Tonight I got together with some poker buddies (most of them my students) and decided we'd hit the tables to have fun and play against each other. Needless to say, these games were really wild. We messed around on some .10-.25 deepstack tables and Max and I specifically made it our goal to drive everyone else nuts and to try to outplay each other 6 ways from Sunday. I took a nice beat early on in the session with my KK when I 5bet for half my stack and got 6bet allin by Max. Obv the flop comes Axx two hearts when I have no heart, so my one out decided it didn't want to show it's face.
After awhile, one group left Max and I and another group joined in. These guys only had a couple bucks in their account, so we decided to hit the really mean streets of .05-.10 so this way they could play without having to buyin for 20bb's and pray. I wound up getting Max back for his suckout on me by making a move on him with a gutshot and two overs after floating his flop bet (and of course he showed me KK, taking away my overcard outs...OOPS!) Of course, with one to come I spiked the 9 and -- while it didn't add up to what he blasted me for considering it was a lower limit -- it felt DAMN GOOD to put a HORRENDOUS beat on that guy, LOL. Don't worry, he'd say the same about his A9 win.
Eventually, I wound up stacking both of them for their bankrolls with my flat call on a 3bet with 52o on a 552 flop. Gotta love it.
It was mostly fun, and I felt like we all had a blast except for the one guy (who is actually the only one I know in real life, sadly). I've been hearing bitching from him about how I busted him with 52 (when all he had when he shoved was a flush draw) and about how I forced him to play, yadda yadda. Com'on man, it's twenty friggin bucks, are you serious? He seems to totally forget that he raised and called a reraise with Q6s, so who is he to get pissed off at me for making a subpar call when I am clearly just trying to have a good time tonight. It really kind of ruined the entire night for me, which is a shame because I had a really good time, otherwise.
Eh, I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow. Just need to shake off all that negativity.
I apologize for the lack of updates and non substantial content in my last few blogs. I'm still out in Denver and it is absolutely gorgeous out here. It's actually nicer here than it is in Indianapolis. I played for about 45 mins last night and obv ran pretty good. 9 max seems a lot different than 6 max when it comes to variance and "running good" though. Here are my stats. I will try and be more detail this weekend when I get back home. Everyone say a prayer tonight for Western to beat UCLA tomorrow night. Go Tops! :)
Here are some hands from several sessions...
On the better side of a cooler
Sort of how I felt like I've been running lately..
Running bad promotes bad playing...
Nothing like playing a draw aggressively -- when the draw is counterfeited...
I don't hate my pf playing based off reads, flop is sick.
A cooler Heads up.
Preflop raising had been pretty liberal so his 5 bet hardly polarizes his range to AAxx. It might be a big leak to get in middle set for a 350+ BB pot..
This standad too, I think -- although for the stack sizes maybe I played it too aggressively.
Overall my results have been -- quite frankly disgusting. I'm break-even at best for the month and down like 30 buy ins in PLO. If I had to rate my game I'd say I'm playing at about 3/10 at PLO and about 7-8/10 in NLHE. I feel like my NLHE game has improved so much, but there are still a lot of situations that give me fits and take me out of my comfort zone. Hopefully my determined personality will drive me to fill these holes and really regrind the BR I pissed away last weekend.
I hope to be productive the rest of the day. I've got some articles I really want to write and get out of the way and also I'd like to get some studying done as well as take my dog on a walk. It will feel nice to get a lot of my workload off my chest, as I've been a D+ student at best this quarter, thus far.
Yesterday was great. I hung out with my gf and her brother and his gf. We just hung out at a pizza place and shot the shit for like 3 hours. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and really a good time. Our waiter was a douche who didn't appreciate any humor. I typically like to joke around with the waiter (and a good response leads to a very solid tip) but this guy just wasn't having it. Oh well, that's why he got a shitty tip.
Afterwards we tried to introduce Chris's dog Max to Hector. Max has had a fear of bigger dogs (Hector is about 80-90 lbs) and they met when Max was a puppy. Apparently Max remembers him because they got along pretty well. Better than I expected atleast. Lauren and I didn't feel entirely comfortable with having both dogs spend the night here though, so unfortunately Max couldn't stay. I hope that they can become better acclimated with one another in the future though.
Anyways, time to be productive. I hope you all have a good weekend!
First Entry
I plan to update this blog often. My main goal is to post my results as I continue with my transition to NL cash games. I will also be posting HH's and I welcome insightful input from any one who is interested. Here are my results thus far since switching to exclusively NL cash. I have been employing an optimal strategy and have not ventured too much into exploitive play. Generally I keep the pot small and make bets that a better hand will raise and a lesser hand will call or fold, unless my equity vs. my oppnents theoretical all in range, is at least equal to my pot odds. Meaning I take the remaining effective stacks add them together, then add the dead money, then divide my remaining stack, that can be put all in by the total amount of the potential pot (effective and dead moneys). If this # is (x) and my equity (vs. opp. AI range) is at least = to (x) I make pot building raises with the hope of earning a fold or getting all in. This way I can not really be exploited easily. I feel I will earn a nice equalibrium between fold equity (opp. folds when not holding a hand within his all in range + takes bad price when he calls or moves in with these same hands) and pot equity as I will be at least recieveing a break even price when he does hold one of the hands I precieve to be within his all in range. I review hands where I chose to build the pot for an all in confrontation with pokertracker and pokerstove. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Here are my PT results thus far,

I have been employing the following BR strategy.
Up to and including 1-2 NL
10 x Max buyin to begin 4 tabling. If at any point during play BR < = (6x), drop. I am sticking exclusively to 6 max tables until I am full rolled for beyond 1-2 NL.
Beyond 1-2 NL
10 max units (behind) for full ring. eg. if 4 tabling BR would = 14x at all times min.
15 max units behind for 6 max.
20 max units behind for HU.
25 units behind SNG.
50 Units behind MTT.
Although these numbers may seem a tad aggressive. I am not depending on poker as my primary source of income.
If that ever became the case I would exactly double the above parameters.
Your thoughts appreciated as always.

Took a small 35 win playing 50NL 6 max.. But it felt good to be grounded out of the HU action which I am both underrolled and under experienced for, although my small sample has good results. Any info on if .5-1NL with 100 max buy and .50 max chop is beatable long term?

Moved up to 100NL 6 max today and found that the games seemed no tougher here are some sample hands that make you scratch your head a little. The first is soo crazy, ask yourself what you would have done, as I called with the kings, I thought, I am making a bad call.

Im still sure that my call doesnt lose money through infinity, as the ranges are usally alot tighter for my opp.s and I think you would be facing AA too often. Anyway scrap the other two hands for now that was just a crazy one I wanted to post.
