CARDRUNNERS
What's Your Edge
I ran better in cash games too and was able to pick up 1 buyin on PP and 2 on PS. I'll take any type of win right now.
I played quite a bit today. I played a few hours of Stars 10/20 while playing the stars 100r and UB 100 mtt. The stars 100r didnt' go so well. Same goes for 10/20. I won $25 for the day on stars. I did manage to pull 3rd in the UB 100. As I said, my mtt game is really coming around. I think I'm playing great in the mtts I'm playing. I played a little UB cash after the mtt and picked up 1 buyin. I wasn't playing too well and had some other stuff to do so I quit.
I went and worked out for awhile. I'm in terrible shape now, but I'll come around. On the way home I got some qdoba. I sat and watched some Anchorman on HBO and then started watching the game. I stopped and played poker for about an hour or so on PP and had solid session. I turned the game back on but I turned it off when Miami was down over 10 in the 4th quarter. I figured they were done and I realized I forgot to make a video for cardrunners. Obviously, I am very pissed about that retarded decision. I saw the final score and I'm sure it was a great game. At least I made what I think is a pretty decent video. I'm working hard on talking more. I also played solid. I hope you guys like it. Tomorrow its back to the grind at work.
We are going to my dad's friend's lakehouse right now. He has a speed boat and my cousin brought up a wakeboard, so we are going to do some wakeboarding. He also has 2 jetskis, so I'm sure well take those for a spin too. It should be a good afternoon.
Tomorrow I head ot Detroit to celebrate my grandpa's 80th bday. That should be fun.
Sunday I head back to Chicago. I'm definitely looking forward to getting home at this point. I'm ready to grind out that last month and be done with my job. I'm also looking forward to playing osme poker. In the last two weeks, I've played about 1k hands. That's up there with the least amount of hands I've played over an extended period in my poker career.
I did some math and basically I need to average about 1.4 buyins/day. I think that is definitely doable if I play well and play a good amount. I think one of the most important things will be following my stop loss. I'm gonna have plenty of big days. Avoiding 1 or 2 big loss days will be key in order to achieve my goal.
What kind of games am I going to play? I think I'll ONLY play 10/20nl. Tournaments are a waste of time most of the time and I haven't played enough lately to really be fresh. I might as well spend the time I have in cash games. I feel 100% comfortable there and I just feel like good things will happen this month. I will be playing on 4 sites, most likely in this order: Party, Stars, FTP, UB. I'm loving party lately and I want to keep taking advantage of my rush there. I only played party today.

I played for like an hour this morning. I got bored towards the end and wasn't paying attention, so I quit. I ran well.

Interesting hand. I was worried about a set on that board. After he called the flop I thought a hand like 1010, JJ or QQ seemed very likely. Obv the J turn isn't very good for those holdings. It may slow down 1010 and it puts me way behind JJ. There's also the chance that the guy has 88 or 99. Since QQ and maybe 1010 were what I needed him to have, I slwoed down a bit. Once he checks the river I'm pretty sure he has one of those hadns so I put out a nice value bet. He had 1010.

Can I fold the turn here? I've played enough poker to know what a set looks like and that sure as hell looks like a set w/ how he played it. Oh well, I took the standard line and paid him off.

Always fun when top pair gets action, even on a scary board like that. Ty for holding.

I made a great call here. I don't want to analyze this hand though since I play w/ him a lot.

Here's a quick run down if you care.
KK into AA twice, QQ into AA once, 910 on 91010 board loses to J10, AA vs KJ on Kxx board, AA vs set on 972 board, QQ on Q10x board vs KJ.
Every one of those pots was 5k+. I feel just absolutely sick right now. This is the most frustrating run of my life. I think that the legislation is putting added pressure on me to win. I know my days might be numbered. I played so well today though...UGH.
I played another session before Lost last night and won 5 more buyins. I'm on a 10.5 buyin upswing in the past two days. I gotta say that the games have played pretty damn soft when I've played them. I know I've also run well, but some people have just been giving away money. It reminds me of the old days...
I haven't played yet today. Brystmar came over to our house today to hang out, talk some CR and play some poker. He's a really smart guy who has a major in E business. He had some great insight on things we can do to improve CR. It was a really productive afternoon. I think I'm going to grind some now. I'm not sure what I'm going to do tonight. I'll probably take it easy because we are all playing in the event tomorrow. I think I might go over to the house Daut is at and watch his WPT debut. That should be fun.
I took a few pictures of our vegas house:
Our badass pool.
Brystmar, Taylor and LL2 grinding it out. This is definitely my favorite part of the house. There is a couch outside by the pool. It' even got a TV. Pretty badass place to chill.
The family room. Brian and Drama grinding it out as well.
I've barely played any golf this summer, but I've played really well when I have. I can't say I know why. Basically, when I was in high school I was a really good player. I averaged in the high 70s and my golf team even took 10th in the state senior year. We were a small catholic school, that was a pretty big feat in my opinion. As soon as I went to college, my game dropped off. When I say it dropped off, I mean it completely went to hell. The summer after sophmore year I had trouble breaking 100. It was pathetic. I became a complete hack. I remember that summer I played the junior club championship at my country club for fun. The first round i shot 101 and the second round I withdrew when I got to my house on the 6th hole because I was on pace to shoot high 50s on the front nine. Golf was supposed to be fun and it wasn't when I shot that poorly. That led to me playing even less and I wasn't sure if my game would come around.
Last summer I played a bit more and shot more reasonably. I was averaging about 90. At that point, I was more than pleased if I could break 90.
This summer has been completely different. I've barely played, but I've played quite well when I have. I've played 5 rounds. 4/5 of the rounds have been in the 80s and when I've been in the 80s I've shot low 80's. I think I've shot 82,82,83 and 81. I had one lone bad round of about 93. It was very windy out that day and my game was just off.
Today I shot 81. I started off with a birdie and a par but struggled after that on the front nine. I wasn't hitting the ball well at all. Luckily, my misses weren't in the woods, they were just mostly thinned balls that skidded down the fairway. I couldn't get the ball rolling well on the green. I just wasn't putting a good stroke on the ball and missed every putt. The back nine started the same as I was 40 yards out in 2 on a par 5 and made a 6. After that I started hitting and putting very well. Everything just finally clicked. The only boogey I made after that was when I misclubbed my approach and then lipped out the up and down putt.
I wish I had more time to play as I love golf. It's nice to get in a good round when I do play though.
Football started up last night. This year is the first year I've played Fantasy football seriously. I played it a few years ago but didn't watch much football and didn't care at all. I've really gotten into fantasy sports in the last year. I played NBA and was terrible. It was probably because I didn't watch enough NBA games and I really didn't know what I was doing. I then played MLB. I started off just as bad as basketball and was in last place after the first few weeks. I've watched a lot of baseball these year and I've really read up on Fantasy strategy. I've learned a ton and I manged to take 5th in my league and make the playoffs. That's not great, but I'm pretty happy with it. Most of the other people in the league know a lot more about baseball than me and they have played fantasy baseball before. I've been reading up on Fantasy Football and I think my two drafts went pretty well. We also got NFL sunday ticket, so I know I'm going to watch a ton of Football this season. The great thing about Fantasy is that it makes every game actually mean something.
I decided to start playing more poker. I basically didn't play for 2 weeks and I've been getting the itch to play again. I've also been developing quite the spending habit lately and it would be nice to pay for these expenses with poker money and not money made from CR or elsewhere. So far I'm up about 5k on the month in pretty limited playing time. I've been running well and playing good but not great. My play has been between 2/4 and 5/10. I've been hoping around looking for good games. My goal is to average 20k/month for the remainder of the year. My biggest obstacle these days is actually putting in the hours at the tables. I keep pretty busy with Cardrunners and my personal life these days. I'm going to do what I can to play as much as possible.
