Didn't do a whole lot this weekend, but it was still a solid weekend. Friday my friends went downtown to go to some bars, since I'm not 21 that meant I couldn't go. Honestly, I was kind of glad to have a reason to not go out. I was very tired from the week adn wanted to just chill. I rented Entourage and finished off season 2 so that I would be ready for season 3 which starts tonight. I got a really good nights sleep and didn't get up until about 230 on saturday.

On saturday I did some things around the house like clean up my room and car. I also changed all the passwords on all my poker accounts. It's something I try to do quite often and it had been a few weeks since I had changed them. I had some friends over at night to just hang out and throw back some beers. A lot of my friends aren't around this summer and its a little depressing because we don't have that many people to hang out with. Taylor did drop by for awhile so that was cool. Taylor got pretty messed up. Good times.

Today I am going to play a lot of mtts. I decided to start working on getting my mtt game back in shape. I want to be a great all around player and not just a cash game specialist. I played some 10/25 today adn managed to play another massive pot (4 buyins). The guy sucked out on the turn but thankfully I resucked on the river for a boat. I think my luck is finally turning aruond and I expect a good day at the tables today.

I wasn't feeling too great this morning when I woke up. It might have had something to do with not going to bed until 2am the night before when I needed to get up at 6am... Anyway, I called in sick and slept in. I was feeling better when I woke up. Before I started playing I got some basic things done like buying some shampoo. I've had to borrow my brothers everytime I've wanted to take a shower for like a week.

I played quite a bit today. I played a few hours of Stars 10/20 while playing the stars 100r and UB 100 mtt. The stars 100r didnt' go so well. Same goes for 10/20. I won $25 for the day on stars. I did manage to pull 3rd in the UB 100. As I said, my mtt game is really coming around. I think I'm playing great in the mtts I'm playing. I played a little UB cash after the mtt and picked up 1 buyin. I wasn't playing too well and had some other stuff to do so I quit.

I went and worked out for awhile. I'm in terrible shape now, but I'll come around. On the way home I got some qdoba. I sat and watched some Anchorman on HBO and then started watching the game. I stopped and played poker for about an hour or so on PP and had solid session. I turned the game back on but I turned it off when Miami was down over 10 in the 4th quarter. I figured they were done and I realized I forgot to make a video for cardrunners. Obviously, I am very pissed about that retarded decision. I saw the final score and I'm sure it was a great game. At least I made what I think is a pretty decent video. I'm working hard on talking more. I also played solid. I hope you guys like it. Tomorrow its back to the grind at work.

Friday I took off from work early and came home and slept. I played poker for about an hour and won about 1 buyin. After that I ended up heading to my friend Laruen's house. She has a pool so I figured we'd go swimming, but no one wanted to swim. We just sat around and drank some beers and shot the shit. It was a pretty good time, but nothing great.

Saturday was a solid day. I woke up and headed over to my friends house to watch the US vs Italy game and cookout. The game was a dissapointment. The refs were absolutely pathetic and IMO they cost the US the game. I think we looked MUCH better than the last game though. We still have a chance. I really hope that everything can fall in place so we cna move on to the 2nd round.

After the game we went to my friend Eric's house to just hang out outside. His sister was having a party and had a volleyball net up so we ended up playing volleyball all afternoon. We cooked out some more and drank some more beers. Around dusk it started to rain and we headed inside to watch the end of the Sox games and shoot some darts. Again, nothing too crazy but a solid night.

Today was fathers day so I didn't play any of the majors. I played some 10/20 early in the day and CRUSHED. I then watched the back nine of the US Open. Wha ta crazy crazy final round. I can't believe Phil drove the ball so poorly. I relaly wanted him to win.

I playe da little 5/10 tonight and got KILLED. Overall, I was up on the day, but I gave a lot back at 5/10 and I'm pretty pissed about that.

NBA game was a SICK SICK game. Wade is unreal. I can't believe the stuff that he pulls off. I have $5 on the heat and I think I might be cashing in on that. I cna't believe they have won the last 3 games. What a great NBA playoffs.

Taylor bought 4 tickets for the Radiohead concert this tuesday. We had to pay a lot more for waiting so long to buy them, but it will be worth it. Mork and Beaumont are both coming too. I like both those guys a lot so it really should be a great time. I love radiohead and I hear they are amazing in concert. I just hope I can get off work early on tuesday.

July 30, 2006

I've left Vegas and am now in a hotel in Atlanta. I am here until Thursday afternoon to work on auditing a company called Amvescap. Thursday will be my last day of work, so I am pumped for that.

So when I left off yesterday I was leaving for lunch with Taylor, Gaucho, Steam Boat, Melissa and also Whitelime from 2p2 showed up. We ate at a deli in the Rio and decided to go our own ways after lunch. I decided I didn't have time to play live because we were meeting with Bill before the CR dinner to go over some stuff. Ryan (steam boat) and I went back to his hotel room to just chill for a little bit. At first I was going to take a nap, but since I'm a degenerate, I decided to play some online poker instead. The only place that had any reasonable games was party. I also wanted to stick to party or stars so that I could use the resizable table option. My laptop only lets me play 4 w/o overlap and I was hoping to play 6. Luckily, the games were really good on party and I had a great session. I picked up about 4.5 buyins. It was nice to finally get a good session in online.

The CR dinner went great. It was cool to meet Cardrunners members face to face. The food was good and we all had a few drinks. Bill took some pictures, so make sure ot check them out (not sure where they will be yet). After dinner we were debating what to do next. Gaucho really wanted to go to the Ghost Bar at the Palms. It sounded pretty cool and I wanted to go as well, but we decided that I wouldn't be able to get in. Also, I wasn't dressed appropriately to get in anyway. We decided instead to go to the Venetian to play some poker. I ran into Jsup, JohnnyDrama and Used2beGood there. They were all in Aruba last year and we all hung out a lot there, so it was cool to see them. I got into the 5/10nl game and sat with about 3k. The game was full of nits. I played for 1.5 hours and I didn't see a single pot over $250 (i'm not exaggerating).

David (gaucho), who was playing 5/10nl at a different table, came over and told me that a bunch of 2p2 guys were coming out to play a 1/2nlhe and 1/2plo uncapped game. That sounded good and since I was bored out of my mind at 5/10nl, I decided to join that game. About two hands in David and I got into a bit pot. I don't remember if he raised first or if someone else did but someone I got $130 in preflop w/ 1/2 blinds and he called. I had AQo and the flop came down K10x. I bet out $240 and he called. The turn was a blank and I bet $420. He called again. I wasn't liking this. The river came 10. I thought for awhile and decided that I didn't want to give up. I wanted to bet an amount that looked like a value bet that would get him off a king w/ a reasonable kicker (thats what i put him on at this point). I bet $780. He thought forver adn folded. phew. A few minutes later the floorman came over and told us wed either have to switch to 5/10nl uncapped or 2/5nl capped at 1k. We went too happy about that, but we didn't have a choice and we went with the latter. I pretty much just slowly lost money the rest of the night. I lost a 1k pot to whitelime where I reraised 23s and pushed a KJ10 flop. He had AA and called. Dumb play by me. BLdsWttrs was plyaing and was sitting two to my left. It was fun to get to meet him. Suprisingly, a lot of the people at the table were playing pretty tight, but me and him splashed around quite a bit. A few of teh other 2p2ers there were Neon (bedeviling on UB), fsuplayer and flawless victory. There were a couple others, but their 2p2 names are escaping me at the moment (although I do remember their first names!). I left the game stuck about 1k and hating live poker. It's just too slow for me. I think I am pretty much done playing live cash games. I have a pisspoor record and I never have any fun. The only thing I can really see myself playing is some small stakes with heavy drinking involved. Losing 1k live stings.

That pretty much sums up my trip in Vegas. I wish I had more time there as it was a very very quick trip.

Time to get back to the grind of a long day of work with hopefully some poker and cr stuff mixed in. Come friday I will be able to replace work with a round of golf and some additional relaxing time. I cannot wait.

I wanted to kill some time but I didn't feel like playing 10/20 tonight. Also, the games on party were pretty bad. I decided I'd try the ole 9 table 5/10. I ran mediocre. I had some good situations and some bad ones. I also didn't play all that well. I wasn't giving up on small pots adn it's too hard to pay enough attention to play those pots well. All in all, it was a good session. I'm getting very close to being back on pace and I feel great about that. My hope is that by the end of the weekend I will be ahead of pace again. This time I plan to not tilt away a ton of buyins.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?451570
This was a pretty lucky hand.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?451689
This hand I thought about pushing the flop. I decided that I probably wouldn't get a call from a hand that I was beating. Also, his min bet was suspicious. I decided I'd give him the chance to keep bluffing if thats what he was doing or I'd try to catch up if i was behind. It was a nice turn.

This session: +2904.46
Overall: +27165.00

3085.00 BEHIND pace

I continued my trend of getting absolutely killed in the PP 5/10nl games. I lost 10 buyins. I do very poorly in that particular game and I'm not really sure why. I ended up tilted pretty bad today. I didn't save any HHs because I don't like posting hands that I either played poorly or got outdrawn on.

Time to do some admin stuff in my life. I figure the next few days won't be that productive with my 21st bday.

I decided to play some when I woke up today because I woke up quite a bit before I had class. Some guy tilted to me pretty bad at 5/10 PLO. I was able to get this stack in about an hour. I was on for 5k though.

I woke up this morning at 8am and was wide awake. Since there isn't much to do at 8am, I decided to play some poker even though I hadn't planned on playing poker for awhile. I played 4 tables of 2/4nl and one two tables of 5/10nl. 5 of the tables were on FTP and one table was on UB (only sites I have money on at the moment). I played excellent poker and started to run a bit better. I ended up picking up about 1500 at 5/10 and about 1k at 2/4. I'm pretty happy about the session and I will probably play some more poker today. I basically focused on playing a pretty tight game. There is one thing that was different about my game lately than when I used to only play 5/10nl. My variance was fucking huge. I'd win 7k one day and lose 7k the next. That never used to happen to me. I mean, I'd have some great days where Id win a lot, but i never had days where I lost 7 buyins.

Gonna go play some now. I'll update later.

This blog has had a pretty negative tone to it lately. I don't like that. Things in my life have been going really well lately outside of poker. I also have gotten pretty damn good at not letting poker affect me when I'm not sitting at my computer. Therefore, I think my recent posts are giving off negativity that doesn't really exist in my life. yea, I'm really frustrated with poker, but that's no excuse. I need to look at the bigger picture. Having a losing stretch isn't a big deal and its supposed to happen. I'm gonna focus on some more positive things in my life and come back to poker when it feels right. I took a week or so break at the end of last month and it didn't really help. I guess I need to take more time off. I also said I was gonna stick w/ 2/4nl and I didn't. I had people telling me that it's +ev for me to play higher and that I should be playing higher regardless. Well, I think they were wrong. My head and bankroll just aren't right for the bigger games. I still have about 6k online, so I'm just gonna leave it in neteller for now until I decide to play some.

I am going to read some books, workout more, get caught up on school and put more of my time into Cardrunners for the time being. That sounds a lot more productive than sitting at some virtual poker tables and losing or breaking even.

December 19, 2006

Yesterday I head out to the city at like 230pm. I was supposed to be there earlier so that Tay and i could go out to get a sushi lunch, but I overslept. oh well. It takes about 45 min to get there and it's pretty easy directions. I think I'll probably go to Taylors place at least once more to work on CR stuff. We got a pretty good amoutn of stuff done, but not everything. There are a ton of things that go on behind the scenes that we constantly have to make decisions about. We spent a lot of our time discussing the best ways to handle different situations. I think we made good progress. After a few hours of working on that, we played some fifa. We went 1-1 at the time. I would show my dominance later though.

Our next plan was to go to eat at Benihana. I have a feeling that we were influenced by the latest Office. We were all pumped to do saki shots and just eat a lot of good food. We looked up the closest one and took a cab to where we thought it would be. However, it was nowhere to be found. We walked around and didn't find it. We asked some guys working in subway. THey had never even heard of it. We even tried calling some friends to google it, but no one was at home. We finally threw in the towel and went to some sushi place called Ra. It was pretty good. We ordered a ton of stuff and had a few drinks as well.

We were planning on meeting up with some people, but we didn't know where we were going yet, so we just headed out to Linkin Park area and went into the first bar we saw. It was a chill bar called the Lions Pub. We had a few drinks there and my friend, Brad and his girlfriend, Meera, showed up. After that we went down the street to a bar called John Barleycorn (at least i think thats what it was called). A bunch of girls that lived in my neighborhood as I was growing up and hadn't seen in awhile met up with us there. It was good to see them. One of the girls I hadn't seen in probably 6 years. It's always fun shooting the shit about old times. I also ran into some friends from U of I there. Apparently, some girl was having a birthday party so a ton of girls from her sorority were there. I didn't expect that, so it was a nice surprise. Earlier in the night it was looking like we wouldn't have many people to hang out with. I'm glad it ended up like it did.

After the bars I fleeced Tay in Fifa. I beat him twice in a row and by wide margins. We decided we were gonna play some low limit poker on UB. We went with 25nl. We basically ended up going allin almost every hand. I ran my stack up to $300 on one table, but lost most of it back by the end. I think I dumped about $250 or so. Kind of dumb, but it was fun. I hadn't gone crazy at a low stakes table in a long time. It reminded me of the old days when I played poker less for money and more for enjoyment.

Awhile back, my friends and I wrote a pretty dumb rap song. It was basically about getting in trouble for drinking and smoking in high school. It's become kind of a cult classic. I have run into people I've never met before that can recite the lyrics to my song. It's pretty crazy. Anyway, the girls I hung out with last night know the song and kept rapping it. Taylor suggested I put it up on my blog. It's obv a bad song, but people seem to enjoy it. I'm probably a dumbass for making this public, but I really don't care.
