CARDRUNNERS
What's Your Edge
I'm in South Padre Island, Texas now and having a great time. Basically we've been getting up at about 11am, going to the beach, drinking, coming back at like 4 or 5pm, taking a nap, eating, then going out to a club at like 10pm, coming home at 2am, continuing to party and then go to bed at 4am. It's been a blast. The weather has been perfect. I'd guess it's been around 80 everyday. We've had clear skies the entire time as well. Our sleeping arangment is a little cramped, but not too bad. Our place turned out to be really nice. We are in a condo and not a hotel room. We have a full service kitchen, sitting area w/ pull out couch and two bedrooms. We are right on the ocean and have a great view. I was honestly expecting a dump of a room, so I was very happy when I saw what we had. The only problem is that there is no maid service here and it's been getting pretty trashed.
My dumbass roommates almost got us kicked out of the resort last night. Basically they were being loud on the balcony and got the security to come up and talk to us. They claim they are strict about loud noise. I don't think it would have been too much of a problem, except earlier in the week my friends were wrestling after the bars and put a huge hole in the wall right next to the door. The security guard noticed this and wasn't too pleased. He even called in his supervisor. Basically, if we are at all loud again, I think we might be out of here. I think we can make it though. I got some pics of our view and the hole that I'll put up when I get home.
We've been playing a lot of beach volleyball. It's a great sport to play on the beach. I'm not very good, but my height does help when I'm playing the net. I'm definitely going to try to play more beach volleyball in the future.
Vanilla Ice is going to be at one of the clubs on Friday. I'm looking forward to that. Also, if you guys remember DJ scribble from shitty MTV fame about 6 years ago, he was here too. He was at a club a few nights ago and we were there. He was actually pretty good. I wasn't too crazy about him because I thought he changed songs too soon, but I won't argue he had some skills. My friends all thought he was really good. My friend and I used to rip on him all the time back when were in middle school and watched MTV. If you remember he used to always just turn the volume up and down when he was on. Anyway, it was funny seeing him here.
Ok, I'm heading down to the beach now. I've got a few more days of this and then I'm heading home on Saturday.
I got my PLO BB/100 back up to 22 - this is over 12.5k hands. I had a huge session yesterday which included one of the bigger pots in relation to the buyin that I've ever won. I wonder how high of a number is really sustainable. I think the way I play translates incredibly well to crushing weak players. I 3 bet out of the big blind a lot and basically just work on tilting people. I know a good player could definitely counter my strategy as I play too loose and too aggressive and good players aren't as prone to tilt. That being said, it works so well vs. the weak players I come across at 2/4. The swings are pretty big though as you can tell.

It was an unraised pot too. Pretty sweet. It was a very wild match so I can't completely blame him for going broke there. Still... I finally reached Platinum status on Stars. It took longer than I thought it would. I just really don't like that site. I'm glad that I won't be playing there anymore, especially with the new upgrades FTP made. Anyway, I bought a 30" Samsung monitor and a Bose Ipod player. I still have 5k points left, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them. I wish they had golf balls. I bought a new Dell XPS 1530 the other day. I've been working on installing XP on it, because Vista sucks. It was a lot more work than I thought it would be. I'm finally getting to the end though, thank god. It's been a long week. I'm looking forward to the weekend.

Nice job Andrew. Where the fuck are the dudes that stick in 400bbs with 3rd nuts in an unraised pot on the turn!? I want to find them! lol

So that's where I stand right now. I was stuck as much as $6k at my low, so I'm not going to complain too much. I'm not a great 6 max player. My PLO strength has always come playing HU and even there my style didn't work much above 2/4. One of the things that stands out to me about my numbers is my very high flop AF. I don't know if that's bad or not. I also feel like I'm playing too tight. My last few sessions, I've played at like 20/16. That seems way too nitty for my liking. I figure it's not terrible though since I'm working through leaks. It's better to err on the side of being too tight.
At first I thought my opponent played this hand terribly. Looking back on the HH, it's not too bad. He had a decent hand to call with preflop considering we were both deep. That's a flop that's worth going with. Although, he's lucky I didn't have his flush draw covered. I think you need to be very careful in spots like that because you can be in ok shape like he is or you could be crushed.
This hand is fairly straight forward, but I wasn't really too sure of what to do on the flop. After reviewing it, I'm convinced it's a fold. It's a pretty standard call preflop, but you gotta give it up on that flop. oops.
I think this was dumb luck in a way. I wanted to throw up when he shoved the river. The guy was a crazy player and I knew he was capable of bluffing or showing something like top two. I basically just crossed my fingers and hoped that was what he was doing. I guess I'm not sure what's standard there. I think I have to bet the river. Shoud I typically fold when he pushes?
I really feel like I'm gonna push through soon and start posting big wins. Let's hope that's true.

I fold flop hand 2 and river decision hand 3 is very player dependant but 85 is pretty unlikely after flop so call can't be too bad. GL wigman
Poker has been great still - having a pretty amazing month so far - +about 13 or 14 buyins I believe (haven't updated all my stats yet). I'm closing on my condo thursday, but I have some excess cash so I'm going to try to pay off the mortgage in a few months. Either way, I'm putting about 35% down so my monthly payments aren't too bad. Big ups to my mom who basically bought Marshall Fields bedroom/kitchen department for me. They are going out of business so all of their stuff is like 70% off. 600 thread count sheets, down blankets, all hotel quality stutt for cheap. Looks like I will continue to sleep like a champ.
Today the US is down 2-0 in the World Cup as I'm writing this. I'm going to go watch the rest of the game, play 18 holes, then ???. The gf took the LSAT today so she wants to party, sounds good to me.
PS - some guy has been playing sporadically on UB lately with the screen name Andres Nocioni (bulls player) - anyone know if its him? I can't imagine it is but hte guy really talks like it is...and doesn't play multiple tables and just plays for short sessions - also he was talking about eddy curry being nice guy but way too lazy (true) and said he is in argentina for the summer (probably true too). any thoughts?

I'm leaving next week to go to NYC for an interview with Forbes about CR/Poker. It is a really great opportunity for the business and there should be a video interview of me on Forbes.com eventually.
I want to buy a suit for the occasion as I only have one and I'm not crazy about it. Any advice for what I should wear would be appreciated. The look I am going for is a young professional but with a good sense of style, not something old and "stuffy" but not something that is over the top or too flashy.
Any advice let me know. I'll be playing in some live games out there too so I'll have a trip report for that.
Peace,
tc
I'll try to take some pics tonight, too.

.......but I owned TrevRob in chess. And I want to extend my dominance over him in blog hits too. So I think I'll write something to stay ahead of him.
Ok I thought of something! This video is hilarious. Many of you have probably seen it several times on ESPN but I've watched this like 20 times in the last few days and it doesn't get old. "OHH MY GOD (funky Azn accent)" "Say I'm the best. Go on, admit it. Say it!" Priceless.
School is good too so far, me being sick for the past week or so aside. Rush week was an awesome time and I'm looking forward to the rest of the semester as well. I'm glad I'm still only a sophomore.
Ok I'm tired. I'll try to not be lazy and start writing more. Peace.

Making that horrible call with only a pair of tens with a queen kicker when his opponent had obviously rivered a flush. Everyones a genius until they go busto with one of their "genius" calls. He was just a calling station most of the time.

Today: Hands-147, UB 200NL, +1,232.05
I ended up playing two sessions yesterday. Unfortunately I always play one during the day and one late at night so my "days" get merged together and it's hard to tell how I did in a 24 hour period. I had a calc test yesterday but I breezed through it and it wasnt too bad. Ive been studying a lot for my chem test tomorrow, but still find time to play. This week has been hell because next week is dead week and teachers aren't allowed to give assignments or tests next week so theyre stacking them all up this week. Kind of sucks, but oh well, in all its not too bad. Have to do a lot of studying tonight but hopefully I'll still be able to get in a session tonight.
Biggest hand of the day yesterday: http://www.pokerhand.org/?1753250
