CARDRUNNERS
What's Your Edge
As I'm sitting here, I'm pretty damn hungover. I am also consistently spilling coffee everywhere. That includes all over my clothes, on my floor, on my bed sheets, and on my computer. The coffee does help cure the hangover though. Trade offs...
So yesterday I played like shit at the tables. I feel like with PLO you really need to focus and make sure you play your best. When I play my A game, I tend to crush the games. When I don't, I tend to get crushed. Yesterday was a roller coaster. I was initially down 3k. A lot of that was from running just awful, but my game wasn't there either. I actually rallied and was up 1k and quit. I came back later and put in another session and dropped 1.5k, so I ended the day stuck under 1k. I've been using PT for every session since I got my computer reformated and I love it. It's giving me added motivation to win. I've also realized that I play way too loose at 6man PLO. over like 2500 hands at PLO, I'm down about 6bb/100 at 6 man but up 110bb/100 at HU (like 600 hands hu and rest at 6man). I think overall that puts me at about 10bb/100 total. Although, it's a little skewed b/c I got crushed by someone HU at a 6man table yesterday and dropped about 4 buyins. Regardless, I'm going to focus on tightening up.
We have another office party tonight. Always a good time. I also think tonight's turnout will be pretty good, so I'm excited. It will be a good last night in IL before I head off to vegas.
Today I need to get completely packed and ready to go to vegas. I'm not looking forward to packing, but I'm really pumped to get out to vegas.
Pokerhand.org is working again, so look for some hand postings in my my next post. I'm also going to go buy a new camera today (broke the old one) so that I can get some sick vegas picks. In the next month, except my blog to be better than it ever has been. What better than to blog about living with a bunch of poker players in my first post 21 bday trip to las vegas.
This youtube video is making fun of east coast people, but it sure reminds me a lot of the typical guy in Vegas. It's kind of funny how people act in vegas. There are so many meatheads and just airhead women. I've never been anywhere else with the same kind of makeup of people. Anyway, it's a pretty funny spoof on those types of guys.
I watched the Prestige for the 2nd time the other night when it was on Showtime. It's a great movie. I think it was probably one of the best movies I've seen in the last couple years. If you haven't see it, I highly recommend it. Plus, it has Scarlett Johanson in it so you can't really go wrong.

Nice post Andrew. Real funny video :) In fact the bit on 1:40 with the protein reminded me of a scene from Wedding Crashers. Check out the ending part of it:

These guys were probably inspired by Will Ferrell who is awesome btw

Whooooaaa hoho, that isn't "east coast people", that is strictly the New Jersey/Long Island guido.
The rest of the east coast despises them as much as you do.
I saw 21 last night. It was a mediocre movie and it really wasn't true to the book. It was probably still worth seeing though. There were some great Vegas scenes. Seeing the movie really got me itching to get out to Vegas. The characters in the movie approached Vegas almost exactly like we do. The only difference was they played high stakes BJ, so they got comped. Everything else was the same. Nice hotel rooms, lots of gambling, tables at clubs, strip clubs for the after part... ah, I love Vegas. Unfortunately, I won't be in Vegas for a few months. I'm already getting pumped up though.
I finally got my monitor working. It wasn't cheap though. I went out and bought a new graphics card. I believe it is the Geoforce 8800 or something like that. It was basically the best card they had. It also forced me to get a new power supply for my desktop, which I wasn't too happy about. I would have almost been better off just buying a new computer really. For some reason I can only get my secondary monitor to show up at 1280x800 res when it should be 1680x1050. I'm not too concerned about that right now, because I'm only using it for PT.
I've been 16 tabling which has been interesting. I'm mostly doing it out of curiosity. I want to know if it's possible to win playing so many tables. I've never really played more than 8 or so. Having a massive monitor like tihs makes it a ton easier though. You just need to make your decisions instantly, which isn't incredibly hard at 2/4nl because most things are super standard. IMO, I've ran pretty poorly so far. I put one wicked beat on someone with AKs vs AA allin pre, but other than that I've ran quite awful in allin pots. I personally think I can win at a rate around .5bb/100. I don't know though. Below are my PT stats so far. I included the rake, because that is pretty important part of this scenario. I should note that this is less than 4 hours of play. I believe I'm averaging like 1200 hands/hr. Pretty ridiculous really.

i don't know much about computers but i think you can only get get the max resolution on your second monitor because your computer has an analog and a digital plug for your monitors. the analog one can't run the really high resolutions i think.

ha ha. 16 tabling and still has chat open. Balla and just what the cr videos tell you to do :). Love it...

Primary monitor is 30" Samsung Syncmaster 305T. The secondary Monitor is a 22" Samsung Synchmaster 226bw

I've got a 32" LCD, but when i hook my computer up the screen only lets me have like 4 tables fully visible, how do you change it so you can see so many tables?

I just went to Best Buy tonight to buy a new setup and I avoided the having the same problems you are having with your resolution, because the geeksquad guys were on the ball. I wanted to run 2 28" monitors and the computer I was looking at had a the same video card in it that you just bought...8800 geforce with two DVI (I believe thats what they are called) outputs. However, that video card needs BOTH DVI outputs for one monitor to run it at max resolution. The fix was that I had to buy a SECOND video card so that I could use two DVI outputs for each monitor so that they could both be run at their "native resolutions". I don't know if your mother board will support the second video card or not, because one of the computers I was looking at didn't. Good Luck.
can't wait to get the hell out of vegas. heading back to chicago tomorrow afternoon.
due to feeling like hell, i came back home to chicago a day and a half early. im disappointed because i wanted to hang out with my friend blasek more, but i just had to get out of Vegas. vegas wears on you like you wouldn't believe. I'm excited about some of the progress we are making with CR related stuff, so I guess the trip was not all in waste. there should be a series of pretty awesome announcements over the next 1-4 months, so stick around your cpu's.
it's snowing, i took a sudafed, and i'm going to sleep. this blog sucks sometimes.

Hope you feel better Taylor. I always guzzle a NyQuil milkshake ;) cures everything. j/k that's disgusting, but really, NyQuil is heaven.
it's not working so far.
i'll make the post i planned to make anyway. This is the obligatory "Vegas!" blog post. Every poker blogger has to tell the world when they arrive in Las Vegas for the WSOP. I'm one upping them and doing it from the airport before I land. So long as my plane doens't go down in a fiery crash, i'll touch down in Vegas in about 3 hours from now. This has to be cut short because I gots a plane to catch, peace.

Dude, try using plurk (plurk.com) instead of twitter. It's new and far superior.
Last two days I've been working like a mad man getting ready for our show in las vegas...G2E at the LV Convention Center. Should be pretty exciting.
Currently I'm playing a little .25-.50nl and relaxing before I go out. All my ATO boys from college are in town this weekend and they love to rage. I feel my health deteriorating right now, but I can't turn down people I haven't seen in a few months.
Tomorrow night i'm going to this place in LA... Pirate Adventure This is gonna be AWESOME. If pictures are allowed, many will be taken. I've done the medieval one at Excalibur in Vegas, but never this. Yo Ho Yo Ho....
Sunday morning I leave for Las Vegas. We did a lot of prep work at the office, so all the setting up labor should be minimal. The week should be packed with expensive dinners, clubs, strip clubs, a little poker, and perhaps house hunting, in the event that I move to Vegas for work in a few months. That's still very much up in the air and certainly not happening soon.
I originally was going to stay till Friday, but a friend of ours from UCSB (who's from Texas) might come meet up with us. She informed us that her hot single girl friends from Texas could be coming out to Vegas as well. Umm...Spud's now staying in Vegas for 8 days. I must have done something right in my past life to deserve this shit now.
Following week is Thanksgiving and my birthday. I'm turning a quarter of a century. Thursday I'm flying home to San Francisco, I have Friday, my bday off, and me and my 3 best friends from home are going to Lake Tahoe for the weekend to booze hard and gamble. If I'm alive come December, I'll be stoked. If not, well I went out on top.
Have a good one CR fam, as always GL at the tables and I'll try and blog from the road.
Peaccccccccccccccccce
I find it slightly ironic that the cute chick next to me on the flight back from O'Hare, while I was asleep, left me her name and number on a baptist church religious join our community card, placed within the pages of the book I am reading, Motley Crue - The Dirt; most likely on a page that talks about Tommy Lee pounding vag.
And on that religious note, I'm off to Vegas tomorrow. As I've blogged about before, my favorite part of Vegas is the unknown. I have no idea what I'll be doing and that's really how I like it. It leaves me with random nights, best kept for stories the following morning and beyond.
Viva,
-Spud
