CARDRUNNERS
What's Your Edge
Never ever let anyone know or think that you know what you are doing. The worst they think the better.
So often I see people teaching others and validating their good decisions and I am blown away by this behavior!!! I want my opponents to think I am an idiot not a wizard.
If a situation comes up and I know what the right math or the right play is and it is brought up in conversation I will come up with the wrong solution just so people think I am clueless.
Never let them know that you know...ALWAYS SPREAD MAXIMUM disinformation.
I've dropped about 16 buyins in the last two days playing hu. brutal.
Hands: 7,465
Profit: -8,396.40
Days remaining: 51
this is not what i expected. if i keep losing at this rate, i'll be completely broke in about 2 weeks.

move up to where they respect your raises....... see empiremaker's latest blog post. it works!

Andrew,
I've had a bunch of sessions with you in the past....PLO is very swingy as you know. Your style leads to even a more swingier result. Sometimes in PLO nothing will go right.....other times everything hits and holds. I really don't think anyone has a HUGE edge in PLO and you can lose lots of cash if your not careful. As i've done to you a few times. It can turn around bud but it also could break your roll. Not much else to say about it!!!

Andrew, you obviously know what you are doing, but you need to adjust your game towards certain players, especially the regs. It's very easy for me and probably other players to play vs your style of play, and maybe its time you changed it a bit and maybe tightened up. Just my opinion from playing vs you and it will def. reduce your variance.
Asking this question to a long time UB player is like asking a heroin addict if he knows what a needle is. I know what this button is, I NEED it, and don't ask me again.
tks,

Two Billboards I have seen:
1. In Chicago, an ad for what I believe is Rush Limbaugh's (or another conservative host's) radio show in the mornings.
"Wrong Vs. Right!" XYZ AM Station in the mornings.
2. In New York, an ad paid for by someone who obviously isn't conservative.
"CON$ervative governMENt"
No matter what political beliefs you may have billboards like these are good enough for a laugh.

This is awesome. Some gold digger placed an ad at Craig's List and got what was coming to her...

ps - i haven't decided what I'm doing with that $475 yet. I think I might take my parents out to dinner next week. I'll probably actually do that for sure now that I am typing this, because the are probably reading this now anyway. Mom, Dad, I'll be home Wednesday night because I have a doc appt. Thurs morning. -T

average salary in NYC is \$48,000
In Manhatten its probably \$52,000
At Central Park West it's probably \$200,000+
I dunno where that slut gets her numbers from.
So true though, hope she kills herself when she gets ugly.
Melissa and I arrived in Miami yesterday afternoon. The trip was very uneventful, save for an older gentleman stopping me on the airplane and saying "CardRunners! What is that all about? I've heard a lot about it but I never really knew what it was." I was pretty taken aback, and had to give him a 7 second rundown of the site because we were walking to our seats on a plane. After I told him what it was, he seemed sort of interested, so i told him "it's actually really a great site, you should check it out." He nodded and I finished with "take that for what it's worth, though, I am one of the owners of the site." He and I both laughed and his wife seemd impressed, actually. Go CR.
The Shore Club is pretty unbelievable. Melissa and I ate at Nobu last night which is in the hotel, and the beach is a 2 minute walk from your hotel room. There are tons of little outdoor gardens and sitting areas, and the whole hotel sort of turns into a party at night. The interesting thing about that is that it was Wednesday night last night, with fairly chilly <60 weather, and there was quite a bit of partying going on at the place until I fell asleep at 115 AM.
Here is a picture of our view:
Melissa on the beach:
We had lunch at a hookah place that had some cool outdoor seating, then did a little shopping. I realized that I got a little burned so we just came back. I played a little poker, then took a nap, and now we are getting ready to go out and have some dinner at some place melissa found.
It should be a fun night, and I'm starting to feel a little better. I felt pretty horrible last night so we didn't really do anything besides watch a movie (Juno, LOVED it) after dinner. Juno is my kind of movie, the girl reminds me of a female version of my brother, actually, who has a pretty similar sense of humor to me, although he's a lot smarter and more insane than i.
I will close with an observation. Let me tell you that it is a good time to be a European. Europeans are (and should be) just pillaging the US on their vacations. It's a freaking 40% discount everywhere you go if you're coming from Europe. I'd estimate 75% of the people I've seen at the Shore Club are European. The couple to our right at dinner were speaking French, and I noticed when the guy pulled out his wallet to pay it was busting open with hundos. He tossed a few down to pay for the meal, and presumably used the rest for toilet paper later that night. Anyway, it's pretty crazy, my recommendation to all Euros out there is to 1) Buy a CR subscription (it's practically free) and 2) come vacation in the US.

Wearing CR gear is clutch. I get questions all the time. Even got questions today in the pizza joint when wearing a new CR sweatshirt.
Juno was too slow moving for me without any punchline.
Enjoy the vacation. It's well deserved.
Feb 28, 08 20:20:59
mhm would love to go for vacation to US, I currently get close to \$1.50 for 1€ hrhr
Feb 28, 08 21:38:03
Honest to blog - I must be psychic. Now all you need to do is see another Ellen Page classic - Hard Candy.
And I bet you \$1.00 that you will cringe and/or flinch at least once before the end of Hard Candy.
Feb 28, 08 23:41:06
Hard candy is one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen. It's just so strange, and really really weird. Enjoy

Nice blog, a few things i would like to mention
-Europeans, holiday in Europe, support local tourism and don't fly half way accross the world to go somewhere which you can proabably find close to home.
- Maybe cardrunners needs a few vids of live play. Perhaps pros could take notes of every hand they play at a live game, and run them through the hand history tool. Quite extensive to produce though.
-And most importantly, get a better camera and post more pics of Melissa please!

Just post interesting hands you play and funny/interesting personal stories and you will be in the blogger top 5 in no time...
Oct 18, 07 11:15:43
Can you talk about your rise through the different limits and what you think separates you from a common 2/4 or 5/10 grinder?
Oct 18, 07 11:52:53
I like to read about hand analysis with some personal stories but when the stories are too long and nothing to do with poker they kind of get boring
Oct 18, 07 12:46:30
I would like to read about self management issues.
Things like games selection, bankroll, any practical advice for handicapping yourself against your opponents.
I think one of the hardest things to do in poker is giving yourself an honest appraisal of your current state of readiness when it comes to a poker session. Like being able to accurately say to yourself, I suck right now and should not play or the opposite.
Any tips.

Talk about Cardrunner gossip...like which Cardrunner pros annoy you the most..which shouldnt be teaching on this site, etc
Oct 18, 07 14:06:17
I'd like to know what limits you started - and how you started to move up - and what you were thinking while all this was happening....and what made you move up...honestly....and i'd rather not here the typical "i was building my bankroll until i had enough for 50 buyins for the next level"...personally - ive plateaued at 5-10nl live (not online)....wanna take a leap for the 25-50 or 50-100 without busting (again).....(i took a shot and missed - bad)
Oct 18, 07 15:56:06
Hi Brian,
looking at the cardrunners pro's, there are a lot of styles which can be extremely profitable. You and Phil Galfond for instance have a pretty solid style each one with their personal moves. Taylor and Cole on the other hand are extremely aggressive, while Brian and Andrew are somewhere in between both groups. But somehow, each of you are very successful. I made my own conclusions why each of you (or in other words: different styles) are successful, but I would like to know your analysis on the subject.
kr,
Oliver

woot! commentary on your hands a la CTS' blog would be very cool of you.
Oct 18, 07 21:22:24
Be nice to hear how you schedule yourself to get in however many hands you play/month. Alot of us go to school and play.
Oct 19, 07 12:01:14
Could you discuss your recent matches w/ Daniel Negreanu at Poker Stars. How does he stack up against some of the great online players?
